After playing this game for an estimated 30 hours of playtime I just beat/finished the game earlier today and prior to playing this game I played NFS Prostreet which I just finished playing a few weeks ago. Prostreet seemed longer to me, it took me nearly a month and an estimated 40 hours of play time to beat that game. However I couldn’t put Undercover down sometimes and played for 2-3 hours straight whereas Prostreet I kind of picked at it for an hour here and there. So while I think Prostreet was longer, Undercover had a good amount of playtime to it as well. However, a lot of Prostreet was repetitive – you kept running the same tracks with slight differences over and over. There is repetitiveness in Undercover too but it is not as noticeable since there are other things going on in the game like the story arch. In Prostreet you simply beat an event then moved to the next event in a very linear fashion. Undercover has a linear story, but when you unlock the next part of the story there are then many different missions you can do during that part of the story and you can do them in any order you wish. So while there is a certain “linearness” to the story, there also is freedom to chose several different events in any order you wish.Perhaps one of the funnest things I like about Undercover and I think this is a key advantage over Prostreet is just cruising around the city or on the highway in your chosen ride enjoying the sound of the car and the nice graphics. Notice I didn’.

This is one of the best Need for Speed games. I really enjoyed playing it again. I am glad I could get it for the PS3 although it was quite jumpy in the heavy action sequences during races or chases. But all in all its a great one.

I love a challenging racing game. Graphics are important, challenging tracks, stiff competition, realistic sound. The cars sound realistic and that’s it. The story line and goals are not even clear cut with Undercover. You are supposed to infiltrate this gang of racers but you don’t know where you are on the road to doing that. After the initial cut screens you are on the street. You can drive and get the police chasing you. If you evade you are given wheelman pointts and cash to be used to upgrade your cars later. There should be a wheelman point tracker to let you know how you’re doing with those points you earn. Or let you know how close you are to earning the trust of the “organization”.While on the street the down button will highlight with a race invitation against those in the organization. You press it and are transported to the race without having to drive to the location.I’ve gotten to level 6 and the races are not challening at all. In a few you are one-on-one and have to win by 1000 feet driving on a busy highway. In another one-on-one you have to stay ahead for one minute; the leader can go any route he wants. In group races it’s been easy to dominate and win by 20 seconds or more. You sometimes get a bonus for winning big.The graphics are lacking considering the PS3 is in HD. The city you drive in is pretty drab except for the cut scenes.Update: I’ve gone all the way through now and am at 31% of going through a second time. The races get more chal.

Nice to have a non-track NFS on the PS3. But it’s still only kinda open world-ed. There really is no point to explore since you can jump straight to each race or shop by pressing the down button or accessing the GPS. It’s weird that the GPS doesn’t guide you around town like in previous titles. Cut scenes are over the top cheesy. Upgrading cars is simpler. No more brand names like HKS and Turbonetics to upgrade the same part. Sometimes it seems like the racing is too fast for the PS3 to draw in the road ahead. Confusion and crashes follow. Everything can get pretty repetitive but there are so many racing modes that it breaks it up a little.
