I grew up playing Act Raiser and loved it as a child. I recently downloaded the title on my Wii via the virtual console. The game still holds it own even to this day. What separates this game for most is the mix between ‘sim city’ and ‘2D action’. The game features different areas that first require a 2D action level to be completed. Upon completion a city needs to be built. As the city grows new abilities are discovered and new ares can be reached. The new areas feature more 2D action followed by more city building. Each area has a unique landscape and basic story. Overall the game is just unique and well balanced. Excellent title.

Product arrived in working order (save battery intact, which is kind of a minor miracle given how old the game is now). Physical condition of product just as described by shop; very satisfied with this purchase (and particularly satisfied with the ability to play a game that I loved in high school twenty years later). As for the game itself: ActRaiser was one of Enix’s quirkier products to reach US shores during the SNES years. It combines the "god game" genre (literally, in terms of the over-world portion of the game, and figuratively relative to the player character) with a side-scrolling hack-n-slash action game featuring RPG-lite elements. It’s worth noting that while ActRaiser is a singular title (in that I’ve not seen anything that replicates its formula exactly in the US market), and well worth playing, the action suffers from some of the design flaws that were common at the time of the game’s release. Jumps can be touchy (the player character has the ability to stop on a dime in mid-air, which can be both incredibly useful, and incredibly irritating when it comes to twitch-jumps), and hit detection for some of the smaller enemy types is a bit sketchy. Once you get past that, though, ActRaiser stands as one of the gems of the 16-bit era; well worth a look!

I think that this is one of the best SuperNes games, half RPG half action, and the music is fantastic, i recommend !!

incredibly polished for the time, especially Yuzo Koshiro’s soundtrack. “Filmoa/Fillmore” is one of my favorite video game songs EVER.Interesting concept. You are God.
ZoSo –
Yet another fun Enix action RPG with a creation theme. You play as a god who must clear various countries of monsters (using 2d platforming segments) and then build your civilizations (using a very basic Sim-type of development system).

I purchased Actraiser 2 online because it was less money and I wanted to see how the game play was. I really liked the second one so I purchased the first. The first is great, the has some creative game play for its time. Would suggest buying this game.
