I am very impressed with this game! It is a lot of fun, and it kept me playing until I beat it! The graphics are decent for the 3DS, and the 3D is done nicely. The steering controls are touchy, and take some getting used to, but it doesn’t ruin the game at all. The X,Y,A,B buttons all act as different weapons that you can deploy. You can upgrade and unlock a nice variety of weapons as the game progresses, such as rockets, mines, flame throwers, rail guns, etc… It is a very cool assortment of gadgets!Story wise, there’s not much there. But, I don’t care about story in the games I play. I play them for the action, and this is nothing but fun! There is a "bad guy" that you are dealing with, and he sounds exactly like Dr. Claw from the old Inspector Gadget cartoon! I thought that was funny!I really do think this is the best version of Spy Hunter I’ve ever played. The last one I tried was on the PS2. It was fun, but this one really kept my interest. I definitely recommend it if you like the previous Spy Hunter games, or at least the concept of having a turbo-charged super car that can blow up stuff!

Based on other reviews I had read, I expected this to be a very frustrating game that I would soon sell. Instead I found it to be more enjoyable the longer I played. In total the game took just under 7 hours for me to play through to the end. I didn’t get all of the intel and black boxes etc…but just played through all the levels and saw what they had to offer in the way of gameplay and challenges. In a lot of ways, I thought the hardest levels were probably level 2 and maybe 5. I had to play those levels through quite a few times and watch some videos on youtube to see how others had approached and beaten these. For weapons, I really just focused on upgrading the standard weapons and found them very useful. Towards the end I started equipping other weapons and fully upgrading them with the money I had banked, but always found myself going back to the standard weapons. The cloak/shield was helpful if you need a short break from the enemies relentless attacks. I started going back through the levels to try and get all of the black boxes and looking through the various things you can continue to unlock and achieve, I would say there is probably another 10+ hours of gameplay I could squeeze out of this if I wanted to try and achieve and master everything. For the budget prices this title goes for now, I think this game is a good value. The main gripes I have with the game is that the control definitely left something to be desired and could have been tightened up and worked o.
