I have looked everywhere for this game. I was so glad when I finally found it. This was my favorite game as a kid.

Having played a rather large number of survival horror titles in my time, I uncovered this title at the local flea market for 3 bucks. Having missed it back on the ps1 days (I was too busy with Silent Hill and Resident Evil I guess…) and being a die hard fan of Survival Horror, I picked it up. First and for most, many people have claimed this to be Rresident Evil with dinosaurs. Don’t get me wrong, the similarities are hard to miss, but this really is something unique. Enimies are fast… the slow moving zombie has been replaced with the screeching, agile, adreniline fueled velociraptor… Which makes this game pretty difficult. No, think about it. RE controlls… only with zombies that move faster than you. Get the picture? While this does ramp the difficulty significantly, it isn’t too over bearing (You just have to learn that blasting dinos isn’t a good idea and running away is). Despite the more frentic combat, the game still moves at a sluggish pace that survival horror players have either come to love or hate. This is due in large part to a vast number of puzzles (which make little sense, as usual… colored key cards, statues, crate moving, etc.)and back tracking, in true RE fashion. However, this game offers some really chilling atmosphere, and despite the slow moving speed, it really does feel faster and more frentic than it’s compitition, just because dinos are everywhere, you are always running and usually have an extremely low ammount of ammo at all times. Becau.

it would be unfair to pass this game by as another resident evil rip off because, although the basic premise is the same it is actually a very different game in every respect. And with the exception of 2, dino crisis easily excels any of the resident back catalogue. The graphics are very good and use a different technique than RE allowing for much more user interaction. In RE the graphics are made up of pre-rendered backgrounds but DC uses polygonal characters and backgrounds to better effect and look very much like the areas they are trying to convey. This style of graphics works better than in RE and heightens the tension very well. The gameplay is more innovative than in the RE games with more puzzles and less emphasis placed on action. DC’s weapons are reasonably feeble compared to those in RE but this works for the better. Instead of just splattering every enemy you come across you need to think of alternatives as shooting everything will soon either get you killed or make you run out of ammo fast. Throughout the game you have to use security fences to your advantage, running past a raptor when its back is turned, past a sensor and then turn on the fence, much better than just killing the raptor and more satisfying to boot.Enemies are also more intelligent than in RE games, as they would need to be, and will chase you through doors and follow your trail of blood. They are all also more agile than those in RE and so those encounters you cannot avoid are made even more visc.

I first played this game when I was a teenager but I have loved dinosaurs since I was a child. While this game/story doesn’t fit with the accepted dinosaur reality, it does bring my favorite subject to the realm of video-games without a connection to Jurassic Park.

If I were you I’d prolly get this, by the looks of all the votes doesn’t it seem like it’s awesome? I’ve only played this once and thought it was cool! But if you like this one you should try Dino Crisis 2! I’m gettin that for christmas and I’ll leave a vote for that one as well! Lata ppl!

Dino Crisis is like resident evil in the sense that it is “survival horror” but it is much more than just a RE copy. This game is very intense and in depth with it’s story line very easy to follow and understand. One of the greatest things about this game is that the dino’s depth of detail is great, AI is very impressive. Predators will follow you through doors until you either out smart them or they kill you. Thrashing, charging, tossing, and leaping are just some of the ways your enemys will challenge you. The T-Rex can instant kill you or stomp you to death, birds will pick you up and toss you around in the air if you are unable to dodge there attacks. All the attacks and designs of the dino’s make you wonder if they were ever really extinct.Another cool thing about this game is you can mix different items to make darts. Some will temporally put the enemy to sleep, stronger darts will put them to bed permently. When a dino is put to sleep you can walk up to it and do “point blank damage” the closer you are the more you do. Not only can you make darts but the same weapon functions as a shotgun depending on what you decide to load it with. All weapons function realistically and are greatly detailed.Bottom line I paied 50 bucks for this game when it first came out. In my opinion almost 7 years later it is still worth 50 bucks. If you have not played this game and like survival horror this is a must buy.

You can say this is resident evil with dinosaurs but it’s a little more than that. Definitely scary. Puzzles are a little complex and tricky. You’ll need a pen and paper to figure them out. Cutscenes are awesome. Monsters are quick here. You no longer have the comfort of running away from a slow moving zombie. Certainly challenging. Four stars overall because this game is short, but still worth it.I did play Dino Crises 2 and it was okay. More of a shooter. Wished Capcom stayed with the survival horror element. They had a winner here.
