This is a great item, my boyfriend collects all these tv shows, movies, etc. He is very happy when I surprise him with random gifts.
I used the AR cheat CD to pass this. It’s pretty good. It makes you invincible and have unlimited super powers.
Shadow of Apokolpis may have some of the best graphics I’ve seen in a game. It helps that it’s based on the animated series giving the game a cartoonish feel to it almost identical to the series. I also love the fact that the game really makes you feel the true might of Superman. You’ll find yourself in many situations in which you get your chance to use all the variety of Superman’s famous powers.The game have some easy stages at the beginning but don’t press your luck, it gradually gets extremely hard to play. As is common with Superman, The Man of Steel is set to do nearly impossible tasks. Fustrating as it could’ve been, the difficulty level also forces you to think like Superman. It’s not the kind of game you’re willing to set aside just because it’s difficult. Instead, it encourages you to challenge the stages. The volcano stage in particular was amazing. It’s so grand in an epic scale that you’re forced to use all of Superman’s might to beat it.Shadow of Apokolips is way on top among the best games I’ve ever played.
I see this as probably the first in a series of Superman games for PS2. I suspect it’s [priced]less than the average PS2 game because they didn’t include game features like multiplayer. Perhaps this was done to get it out on the market before the Xbox game.It has many similar qualities to the original Spiderman for PS1 and so in that regard there isn’t any majorly new innovation except perhaps the Cel animation- which isn’t really new either since games like Robotech already do this.Still this limited game is quite enjoyable and the implementation is excellent.Pros:- Beautiful cel shading in both the game and in the cut scenes.- Cartoon series voices are intact.- Flying thru Metropolis’ Art Deco cityscape is really cool.- Supe flies like Supe. He can do loop-the-loops!- Supe gets most of the capabilities you’d expect: super breath, heat ray, heat burst, xray vision, super hearing, super top-spin, ground stomp, high speed flight. This provides you with a variety of ways to dispose of the villians.Cons:- Can’t just pick up arbitrary objects- like cars, except in specific cases.- Can’t crash thru buildings in Metropolis.- No multiplayer mode- would be awesome if you could recreate the duel between General Zod and Supe in Superman II.- Would be nice if there is a way to quickly turn around 180.- Does not use the cartoon series sound track.
BOUGHT MY DAUGHTER A PS2 SYSTEM,BECAUSE SHE MISSED THE GAMES AND FUN SHE HAD WHEN SHE USED TO OWN ONE. I GOT RID OF ALL THE PS2 AND GAMES EXCEPT THIS GAME WHEN SONY STOPPED MAKING PS3 BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE. I KEPT THIS ONE,BUT GAVE IT TO MY DAUGHTER WHEN I BOUGHT HER A REPLACEMENT PS2 SO SHE WOULD HAVE A GAME TO PLAY. I THEN BOUGHT ME A REPLACEMENT ‘ SUPERMAN: SHADOW OF APOKOLIPS PS2 ‘ GAME FOR THE ONE I GAVE MY DAUGHTER. THAT’S HOW GREAT THE GAME WAS AND IS IN MY OPINION. EVEN WITHOUT A SYSTEM AT THE TIME TO PLAY IT ON I KEPT IT FOR YEARS BEFORE GIVING IT TO MY DAUGHTER,THEN BOUGHT MY OWN AGAIN. IF YOU ARE A SUPERMAN FAN AND LOVED THE SERIES THEN YOU SHOULD LOVE THIS GAME. NEED I SAY MORE.
with the cheats of ‘jor el’ and ‘smallville’ for infinite strenght and powers it became more realistic. If you could have 2 player battles, could unlock different superman suits over the years, unlock combos (spiderman movie game), watch superman episodes, have more artwork from over the years, be able to move even faster, like a special move whcih enables ‘light speed’ flight and movement, be able to run like the ‘flash’, have more amazing special moves like ultimate twister or somethin….. if you could have all the unlock features .ie. suits, episodes, 2 player, more moves it would be the best game on the plannet…… i really enjoyed completeing it twice and level warping/level attack to fight metallo about 10 times :-)
I pretty much stayed with the superman history of games, and from the 64 version to this is an impressive leap. I recommend this game to anyone with an imagination, and in the mood for a great adventure.

I am a big Superman fan, I simply loved this game. The controls of Superman is a little tricky but when you start to play it you get familiar to it. Recommend this game to every Superman fan.

I actually like this game. It’s the best one they have so far. I guess we will have see if the new Superman game will be the game of the year. Suppossedly it will have complete free flying, meaning you can go where ever you want around the city and up into the clouds. Wil it be the first movie to game that does’nt suck???

Following in the footsteps of the other great DC comics PS2 game "Batman Vengeance", Superman roars onto the scene. This is a fun game with a lot of good features and fairly easy controls. There were a few shortcomings in that it’s not always easy to figure out what’s going on with a particular mission (though they make strategy guides for that), but who isn’t thrilled at the thought of flying through Metropolis? The thing I really wish we could have had is the chance to just free-fly through Metropolis with no mission or time limit ala "GTA3". Still the few minutes you get to go at it during the training at the beginning really make for a fun game. And the cutscenes look and sound straight from the cartoon – even better than "Batman Vengeance" – which makes it seem more like a movie than a game. I don’t regret buying it, though some parts do get monotonous and aggravating. One major gripe is that you can only save at the end of a level. With each level consisting of 4-5 separate short missions, you can’t quit until you finish the whole thing or you have to start all over again. This is confusing given the save function in BV is a lot better than this, but who knows? Other than that major gripe and a couple of minor ones, I would have to say this game is near perfect for a comic book fan like me.

“Shadow of Apokolips” is the perfect title for this game since there is very little Apokolips or Darkseid in it. The game itself is really fun, but maybe more fun for fans of the TV series. We, as fans, are treated with the return of the entire cast and the writing does feel just like an episode. It being based on the TV series, casual Superman fans may not get the same thrill out of it like those who love the TV show.One of the big things missing from the game is the TV theme song. I was listening for it the entire time, and it never plays. That was kind of a downer. I also wish they had Brainiac and Bizarro on this game, but they are missing as well.What is great about the game is that it is fun and not easy. They didn’t make this game extremely easy for the kiddies, but it is actually challenging in some parts. With all of the challenges, the game can still be beat in less than 5 hours. Overall, this is a game for the fans. If you love the TV series, you will love this. I would suggest that you may want to rent it first if you are just a casual fan of superheroes.

This game is very good, but it is not as good as good as other super hero games such as Batman Vengeance, or Spider-man The Movie.However it is better than Batman Vengance, because i’ts cell shaded graphics are better than that of Batman. It is not better than Spider-man lenght or fight wise. Over all I would rate this a very good game.
