I like this game but sly 2 takes the cake sly 1 is a soild game
Overall, this game is pretty good. Great storyline, fun gameplay, relatively cheap price. The only issue I have with it, and it is in no way its fault, is the graphics. I expect that, for their time, the graphics were very nice. Unfortunately, it appears this game does not age well. But everything else more than makes up for it. Four out of five stars ain’t bad.
Sly Cooper is a young master thief, assisted by his turtle buddy, Bentley, and a hippo named Murray. The threesome set out on a mission of vengeance, striking back against the five criminals who killed Sly’s father and stole the Thievius Raccoonus.The Fiendish Five have split up and gone their separate ways since stealing Sly’s book, so you’ll traverse through five separate worlds. Each world has seven main objectives that manifest themselves in the form of treasure keys. Once you’ve collected all seven keys, you can fight the world’s boss.Aside from getting through the levels, there are also a few extra objectives in the game’s standard levels. Each level has a collection of bottles hidden throughout. Once you collect all the bottles, you can open that level’s vault and retrieve a page of the Thievius Raccoonus. Each page will give Sly an additional move, such as a forward dash attack, the ability to slow time down while jumping, and a high-speed roll. Each level has a time attack objective that becomes available once you’ve gotten a key and all of its bottles. The most difficult part of the game is that Sly normally dies after taking just one hit. Collecting a lot of coins can bring this number up to two or three hits before Sly dies.One-hit deaths can be a little frustrating in a few of the game’s more difficult portions. With only a couple of exceptions, all the enemies die with one swing of your cane. The game throws a few stealth situations at you, but this is limite.

this is definitely one of the best ps2 games ever made. I never really played sly cooper games until now and the was a big mistake because this a very good game.

On the night Sly is to inherit the book, however, his home is attacked by the notorious Fiendish Five and his father is killed in an attempt to protect him. Beautifully rendered levels, intuitive controls, and varied gameplay make this a great platformer. The storyline is fun, if not a bit dopey at times. The boss battles take on different formats: ranging from memory-testing button mashing battles to typical Crash Bandicootesque skirmishes. This adds variety to the gameplay. The moves learned from collecting all pieces of the Thievious Racoonus are typically worth the hassle of finding all of the level’s hint bottles, though some are totally useless. The two standout drawbacks for me were the game’s length(about 10 hours of total gameplay) and lack of difficulty. This left me wanting more. Other than that, this is one solidly constructed game that should be on the top of everyone’s rental list, but left out of your shopping cart.
Sly Cooper was one of the big three mascots (or pairs as it may be) for the PS2. Alongside Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank, Sly inherited the mantle left by the first three Crash Bandicoot games on the PS1. In this respect, Sly overwhelmingly succeeds. I can definitely see Crash Bandicoot threads that run through this game. Sly acts a spiritual successor of sorts with mostly linear levels, great level design, polished graphics, and entertaining voice acting. The controls are really tight and the levels are varied and fun. Overall, the game feels very well polished with special praise going to the cel shaded graphics which really stand out, even today.Having said all of that, Sly is definitely skewed towards kids. The story is decidedly PG. Jak 2 this is not. The levels are extremely linear, and while collecting all of the special tokens may not be super easy, completing the levels usually is. Additionally, Sly can pull off certain spy moves and super spy moves throughout the game. The spy moves can only be mapped to one button and the super spy moves are totally context based. Altogether, they make the experience a bit more friendly than most other platformers.Sly is a lot of fun. It’s pretty short, but it’s great while it lasts.
This is the first game in the Sly Cooper series, and even though it was released in 2002 I have just recently had the chance to play it. Better late than never, right? Anyhow, it is a great game all-around with not too much I can say about it that is negative. You are Sly Cooper, who comes from a long, proud line of professional thief raccoons. The basis of the game is this: the Thievious Raccoonus, which contains all of the secrets of the Cooper family, has been stolen. It has been split up among The Fiendish Five, all adversaries of the Cooper family. Sly, with the help of his friends Murry and Bentley, must defeat the Fiendish Five and reclaim the Thievious Raccoonus.As someone who plays a lot of time-consuming RPGs, I found this game to be a great light-hearted alternative to the norm. The graphics (done in cel-shading) are absolutely gorgeous. The controls are excellent as well with fluid movement. As you progress through the game Sly will learn super sneaky moves to help him progress to the next area. Each area has a certain number of clues you can collect, which if you find them all will allow you to open safes which will increase the moves in Sly’s arsenal. These aren’t essential to beating the game but are fun to attempt anyway. I actually beat the game without finding them all (finished at 75% in about 6 hours).About the only bad I could say about this game is that you will lose a life if you are hit once (unless you are holding a lucky charm) and this is aggravatin.

When most people first look at this game, they see a strange name and cell shading, and quickly turn away. While this game can be perfectly fun for the younger group of kids, and still be fun enough for almost everyone else.The basic plot of the game is fairly straightforward: You are the youngest in a long line of burglars. Back when you were very young, a group of five evil beings came to your house and stole the family treasure, the Thevious Racconnus. Now you must steal all the pieces of the book back from the ones who took it from you. It’s a nice plot, but in the game, it really only ties into it when showing movies between areas.As for the sound, we must remember that this game has many stealth elements (you’re a burglar, after all), so the music, or almost complete lack thereof, fits. When you trip an alarm or something similar, the faint notes and small tune will pick up, but it’s not too bad.One of the first major games to use cell shading, when Sly Cooper first came out, the graphics weren’t that popular (anyone remember the Zelda fiasco?). But once you accept the style, you can really start to notice the vibrant background and flawless animation of the game.Even the controls are great. One way this was managed is the fact there are so few buttons used. You’ve got the control stick, four action buttons and a zoom feature (but that’s really all you need). Apart from a few instances in which it might be hard to grab onto a rope or hook, in most cases, you get it the.
