I played this game as a kid at a friend’s house. He was a control hog, so I never got to truly play it all myself until the trilogy collection came out on ps3.I do own that collection on my ps3, and it is wonderful, with the higher res and redone music and all, but there is a major thing that is missing that was there in the original: the developer commentary when you defeat the time sprints in levels. It was removed in the collection and while I can access it all online, i wanted to earn it for myself. Take that Brody, my town now.As for the actual game:The first entry of the Sly series is the odd one out. It plays like a typical 1-hit KO platformer, only it’s in 3d and has nice branching paths here and there as you look for collectibles. Sly can do a lot of athletic feats, and you unlock more as you progress.A lot of levels are a point A to B, where you have to navigate them to reach your goal, the treasure keys. Every level feels unique and fits the world’s themes though, so it’s hard to get bored. Some levels even switch it up where it feels more like a side scroller, while others keep you moving as platforms get destroyed. Each world has a level or two that’s a little different, like racing, turret shooting, or whacking chickens in a small space. The story is one that really fits Saturday morning cartoons. Sly is from a long line of master thieves, and as a kid an evil gang stole his family heirloom and left him orphaned. Now grown up, Sly seeks to take back what’s rightf.

Disc worked perfectly, just wish the game itself had less text and talking, haha.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus is a very unique game in that it combine stealth gameplay, akin to the darker “Splinter Cell” series, with colorful and great-looking cartoon visuals. This may seem like an odd combination, but in this case, it fits like chocolate and peanut butter. The gameplay is very fun, especially when you unlock the Thievius Raccoonus pages, which allow Sly to use a wide variety of different abilities, like slowing down time and planting hat mines. There are some sections of the game where the gameplay changes completely, most notably during the final parts of the game and some missions which need to be completed in order to move on with the story. These are easily the most frustrating sections of the game, and they somewhat detract from the overall experience. The graphics are very good and the art style is very, well, stylized. The characters are all memorable and unique, especially the villains. Overall, I give this game a 4.5 out of 5.

I have played this game ever since I was little and still pick it up every once in a while for a play through. The game is kind of kid oriented, but the commentary between the characters is still funny. The controls are easy and you do get very used to them. Try switching to another game with differing controls, and I was in a world of hurt in the other game. The power ups you collect from each "normal" level are so much fun to mess with, especially Stun that you can only get after you defeat Clockwerk, the leader of the Fiendish Five. I would highly recommend this game to anybody that is looking for a light gaming experience and wants to chalk another one up on their "favorites" list. Happy playing!

A classic game for the PS2! The controls take some getting used to, but the game is fun, especially for kids!

I agree with everyone who liked this game. It is fun, clever, good-looking, etc. Unfortunately, it gives me motion sickness. Most games don’t.I bought the game for my son, and he’s fine with it. So I know it’s me. (No big deal; it keeps me from hogging the controller.)I have had a similar problem with a few other games for PC, notably Castle Wolfenstein (the OLD one) and Myst III. If you don’t have a tendency to motion sickness, then I recommend it.

my kids have enjoyed it

AWESOME! Love the sneaking, great platforming and good variety of gameplay. The controls can make it insanely hard at some points. That’s when you get your roommate to finish those levels. Otherwise an addictive stealth/platforming game.
