Originally released way, way back a little after the release of the original Playstation; Acclaim’s Alien Trilogy (you can tell this game is old considering the film series stopped being a trilogy when the fourth film Alien Resurrection was released a year later on) is a straight forward first person shooter in which you play as Ripley going through all the Xenomorph infested areas from the first three films. By today’s standard’s the graphics, gameplay, and weapon options are all pretty dated, but in it’s day Alien Trilogy was one of the better FPS games to hit the PS1. All in all, if you still have your PS1 and dig older FPS games, you should give this one time gem a look.

This is a great game. Yeah, the graphics are a bit creaky, but the atmospheric soundtrack more than makes up for that. My son and I have been playing this game together as a tag team for more than two years. It will fill you with anxiety, make your pulse pound, and–yes–it may even make you cry for your mama. If you liked the 1st two films, this is the closest you’ll get to LV-426 (in this lifetime anyway) . . . at least until an upgraded version comes along. But try to snare a cluebook as well. We’ve been stuck at level 3/3 for about 3 months!

Alien Trilogy for PSOne is 30 levels of acid bleeding insanity!!STORY:————The battle begins in the opening cut-scene where Ripley and the marines arrive at Hadley’s Hope on LV-426 and are attacked by the xenomorph. In this version of the story, EVERYONE but you and Bishop (Who is stationed in the APC vehicle outside of the colony) are wiped out in the first big bug attack, leaving Ripley to complete the search and destroy mission by herself. And so the game begins.GAMEPLAY:——————This game is very reminiscent of the Doom games, also being a moody, atmospheric First-Person shooter with slightly better graphics and a scarier, heart pounding soundtrack that’s both eerie and upbeat. The way the game is set up is that Bishop sends you mission text objectives at the beginning of each level, and you play through the 3 major settings of the Alien Trilogy films, in the order of 1. The LV-426 Colony (Aliens), 2. The Prison (Alien 3) and then finally, The Bone Ship (Alien). Each area has 10 levels and TONS of enemies, ranging from the Xenomorph, facehuggers, chestbursters, company combat synthetics, corrupt company security guards, dog xenomorph – young & adult variants (Alien 3) and of course, 3 queen aliens, which you’ll face on the 10th level of each area. You also play as the bald Ellen Ripley from Alien 3, but she’s wearing her outfit from Aliens, which I thought was a bit weird. But alright, you only do see Ripley in the cutscenes or the death scenes any way. But.

There are many aspects of this game that i love. The music in this game is hauntingly beautiful, i rarely get a chance to say that so im going to enjoy it. Its like a dark ambient something thats just absolutely perfect. The same guy, stephen root, made the music for die hard trilogy. If you dont want to buy the game at least give the music a go online, track 9 is my favorite. This was the first fps i ever played and I think it did very well for its time. It can be a tad clunky at first once you get a groove your good to go. The stage layout is great, the bonus stages are a cool touch, and those queen battles always got me pumped as a kid. There are plenty of stages in it and plenty of hidden equipment and ammo which i am a sucker for. I think theres over 25.All in all i love it. It has a special place in my heart because of my childhood, and i thank god i was given the chance to listen to this music and just watch my dad shoot aliens up.

I was very impressed when the person selling this game to me gave an express delivery out of the kindness of his heart. That was thoughtful.

If you want a [well priced], yet fulfilling few hours of destructive fun, this is your game. I found the ambience slightly disturbing, that’s good. Fans of the films will appreciate all the locales being included. The graphics are extremely dated, but for fans of old school games who don’t need extreme eye candy, this is a solid buy.

I have played this game many times before. Due to family financial reasons I had to get rid of it. Finding it again at an affordable price was huge bonus. The game I ordered came in the original case but with one deeper scratch which makes one part of the game freeze for a few seconds then it works great again afterwards. Its a fun game and I missed playing it. Sometimes the scratched part makes me lose a life but the playability is still great.

Alien Trilogy is a first person shooter that plays very much like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D and Wolfenstein 3D. It ties all 3 Alien movies together into one, but it does it very loosely meaning that even though the game is based off of all 3 films, the story in this game is it’s own story. You play as Ripley throughout the entire game. Most of the objectives in each of the levels include clearing out alien hordes, activating switches for elevators and doors so that it’ll be easier access for the clean up crew, and collecting ID tags from fallen comrades. There are a total of 3 chapters in this game, and about 12 levels per chapter. Just like with Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, Alien Trilogy tells you the progress that you’ve made in that level after completing it. It tells you the percentage of aliens killed, the percentage of secrets found, and the percentage of your mission accomplished. Though, I have noticed that after completing a level, it will sometimes skip a level for some reason. I don’t know if it’s because you have to get 100% in all 3 categories on the chapter before the skipped chapter in order to play it. The game does have cutscenes, but there are very few of them, 3 to be exact. Each one plays before starting a new chapter, though oddly there is no ending cutscene after completing the game, not even any credits. The graphics are identical to that of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, except with different enemies and a different HUD. There are a variety of enemies in this game inc.
