Dragon Quest V. I love the DQ series and this being the first time V (and VI) made it to the states I was happy I bought it when I did as the price has only gone up in value. The game itself has charming graphics and story. You play through a lifetime, pick a wife and later even fight with you’re kids. If your efficient and don’t take your time exploring, grinding and recruiting you could probably finish the story in 25 hours not sure because I always dottel and take every turn in dungeons even if it’s a dead endThe battle system is very traditional turn based something I have always loved and prefered in RPGs. Some monsters will ask to join your team after a battle, some are amazing to use others are not. Recruiting can take awhile but it kills to birds with one stone if you do it as you go as you will grow levels. Even the not so useful monsters can be useful just to keep in the wagon a lot learn healing spells which are always useful. The wives vary in skill and personalities though the most developed is Bianca (I haven’t chosen Nera yet). Your kids will be the same other than their hair color and bits of conversation when you talk the the girls you didn’t chose.Overall if you enjoy old-school turn based combat you should give Dragon Quest as a series a try though this one is hard to get now it’s still a lot for you dollar As a fan of the DQ series DQV is probably my favorite.

    Everything exactly as described.

I love the series and am happy I finally got to play 5. Unlike the others in the series, you have to recruit monsters. It was more hassle than help.

I have played through Dragon Warrior/Quest 1-8 (except 6). DQ5 is a good game but not my favorite out of the series. The story line is interesting and has a cool twist to it but I was disappointed with the number of human characters that join your party. Monsters join your party randomly but they don’t have any backstory. I was also disappointed with choosing a bride. Your wife disappears almost immediately and you don’t get her back until nearly the end of the game. Other than those complaints, DQ5 is a good game and I would recommend it.

Another solid RPG of the Dragon Warrior/Quest series. Doesn’t have the cutting edge graphics, but story and gameplay make up for it.

    Brand new.

I haven’t played a game that grabbed me like this with its story for a long time. It was an excellent, excellent title. If you like classic JRPGs, this is an exceptional choice! The life story of the main character is gripping and just finding out what would happen next kept me going. The battles are simple and straight forward. Nothing to fancy, but they do require thoughtful strategy in many cases. The music is excellent. I loved the overworld theme. There are not many games I have played consistently from start to finish when I purchased them. I usually buy a game, get into it and then chip away at it until I get to the finish. This game was different. I was finished in about a week or so. As a 32 year old Graduate student working toward administration in education, this is saying something. This is an excellent game!

The is an old RPG game the graphics are okay and the amount of time to do everything is making it slow going at first. You have to forget what you know in gaming and go back the the basic gameboy controling. I like the game and it helps with my collection.

always a classic game….had a lot of fun playing this game..loved thesense of humor the characters have throughout the game.
