There was a bit of the double image/line things that everyone mentions. But on mine it is only on the very first disc in the first book. I used some specialty cleaner and scratch repair just in case- it didn’t completely get rid of it; but it did help. I would rather have it on blu ray, but this is much preferable to not having it at all! One of the few cartoon-like movies/shows that are funny and entertaining for kids but not so silly they just destroy my adult soul.

I was happy to see this series released in HD on BluRay. They did a good job up-scaling it and the issues from the DVD set are gone. But I do have one small gripe. Someone got lazy while making these. Disc 1 and 2 were done right. The issue for me starts at Disc 3, Chapter 17. Instead of starting the episode starting at it’s title, the episode now has the intro in it. And since they did not add a chapter mark, you have to fast forward up to the episode title if you don’t want to watch the intro again. Then this issue goes away when you reach Book 2: Earth, Disc one Chapter one. Then returns again in Chap 6: The Blind Bandit, where Intro makes it’s return and they start to annoy you with “Previously on Avatar”. Do we REALLY need to be reminded of what happened previously on Avatar in a Box Set? Yet once again, you can’t hit the “Next” button to skip it because there is no chapter mark to skip this. And if you do hit “Next”, you will end up 9:47 into the episode. It goes away when you reach Chapter 12/13. where they combine the 2 episodes. I know it may not bother others the way it bothers me, but this issue would of been solved if they simply started the episodes at their title, or added proper chapter marks to make skipping to the start of the episode possible. Maybe they could fix it in the 4K release.. who knows. Still, no regrets buying this BluRay set, but I did take off a star for it.

If you are like me you want to make sure that the double blur line from the original dvd set is fixed. If thats what you are worried about, they fixed it.

I am a huge animation fan. I have always loved shows that take pride in good animation whether it be Jonny Quest, Gargoyles, Batman the animated series, Talespin, whatever. Unfortunately, after the 90s there was a decline in quality animation in favor of a low quality, high level of production animation. Avatar looked different, but when it first came out I was busy with sports and never got a chance to watch it on tv. Now after all these years of hearing a lot of good things about avatar I decided to find out whether the show really is as good as people claim or if it’s merely that it came at such a low era in animation that it is being compared to other shows of the same time. After watching it I can say it is the most impressive animated tv show I’ve ever seen. The animation is flawless and the movements are so fluid and with a show based on fast movements and fights that is a fairly rare and very impressive accomplishment. Really my only issue with the show is the way vehicles are animated is more of computerish as opposed to traditional animation which clashes at times, but I don’t let it distract me enough to hurt the show. The voice acting in the show is another impressive aspect. The voices and emotions are perfect and when taking into account the characters being animated appropriately it works perfectly together. Then there’s the soundtrack… I must admit while watching it at first the soundtrack is so perfect that I really didn’t “notice†it cause it was.

I grew up watching this show and it has (in my opinion) remained one of the best shows I have ever seen. It definitely holds to the test of time. If you’re like me and you grew up with it then you should definitely buy this collection, at least just to re-visit it should you get the itch to watch it in the future. Plus, now it’s in Blu-ray so the quality will be way better. If you have never seen this show then I HIGHLY recommend you buy the series. It is definitely worth the price and I think people of all ages will be able to enjoy not just the target audience it was “made” for.If you’re wondering what makes it a great show let me explain. The character development is overarching and even after three seasons you can see the characters grow with each episode. The bending is based off of real martial arts and you can tell they really put work into the animation to reflect this. The lore itself is also very expansive and you’ll find yourself curiously wondering about other aspects the show may not necessarily touch upon.

Whatever issues the first book on DVD had have been fixed for the Blu-ray release. I was worried about the quality after seeing the complaints about the dvd, but it’s not an issue!

Our family just finished watching Avatar The Last Airbender for the second time through. We first watched it 6 years ago when it was available to stream on Netflix and retrolio Prime and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own this Blu-ray set to watch it again with our younger children. We highly recommend this endearing series. The Blu-ray discs offer good video quality (other product reviews scared me away from the DVD set and the expense steered me away from a digital purchase).Compelling characters, conflict, drama, comedy, innocence, betrayal, tragedy, triumph, disappointment, redemption, and love all combine to make for a riveting and uplifting experience. This series connects with audiences of all ages.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a fantasy show with a beginning, middle and satisfying end, featuring compelling three-dimensional characters, genuine laughs and surprisingly great martial arts/super-powered action. I say surprising because the show looks like a Nickelodeon cartoon from 2005, which is to say “frequently cheap.” This can make it a hurdle for first-time viewers who want to see their cartoons a little more uniformly smooth, but when you hit one of the important scenes, the scenes to which the animation team decided to divert their resources, you’re treated to some dazzlingly fluid and expressive stuff. The previous DVD releases had some problems, doing no favors to some already dodgy looking stuff. This blu ray transfer, as far as I can tell, is flawless.

Review for the 1st BLU-RAY version of the show.First thing I should clear up because retrolio puts the DVD reviews in with the Blu-ray for some strange reason: The "double-line" issues of Book One’s first disc has been FIXED! That alone made it worth it to me. There are times when the animation itself is wonky, but this show is 13 years old now and wasn’t made with HD quality so .Naturally, it still also has the full screen aspect ratio (black bars on the side), but that’s to be expected. Just wanted to put that out there if that bothers anyone. The box is nice and didn’t arrive broken. I like the two different covers on the sleeve and on the case itself. I wish there was a bit more "artfullness" to the inside and the discs themselves, as they all look the same. I recommend everyone making sure they have all the right numbered discs when you buy it, just in case.I bought it for $30 and it is worth it. That comes out to $10 a season. Considering a few years ago, people were trying to sell all the DVD Sets for $60-100+ on eBay, you might as well get the Blu-Ray
