There are 4 different sports here, but they kind of feel inferior to the other games that only focus on one sport. The horse racing feels incomplete. They should have done basketball instead.
This has a good variety of sports games, but you have to figure out which button does what for each game. Not all of them work the same! For example, in one game you may have to use the B button to jump, but in another game, you may have to use A to jump even though this is on the same disc.
My daughter loved the game, but was disappointed because it did not include the amiibo card as stated.
Overall, a fun game that contain 5 sports…..i purchased two games to be able to play with my kids…we really enjoy the multiplayer mode together…

Mario Sports Superstars is a combination of 5 different sports in one set. Two of these–Tennis and golf–already have (superior) standalone releases on 3DS, and the characters have engaged in every one of the included activities in different games in the past (horse racing was included in a recent Mario and Sonic game).Mechanically, these games are all pretty solid. Tennis and golf work exactly the same way as the standalone entries. Baseball introduces a spinning wheel mechanic for pitching, which is a little different from previous games. Soccer has basic passing and shooting mechanics. Horse racing is pretty easy to control as well.Each mode has its own version of an exhibition match as well as a basic tournament. The tournament rounds are inevitably short. Tennis matches last a few games, golf is best of 3 holes, etc.Some sports have competitive online play. Tennis and soccer work pretty well. Golf does not have an online component, which is curious given that the standalone version did. Playing tennis, I suffered a little lag, but this is consistent with the standalone tennis 3DS game’s online experiences. Other times, matches were fine.The amiibo component is frustrating. Nintendo is selling amiibo cards, which can be used to unlock star versions of the characters in their respective sports (e.g. Golf Bowser unlocks Star Bowser in golf, but not in tennis). Every existing amiibo figure can be scanned to unlock coins which can be used to purchase in-game cards, but these.
Just a collection of 5 basic Mario sports game including Golf, Soccer, Tennis , Horse Racing, BaseballMost games are stripped down compared to their full game counterparts and only include Exhibition, Tournament and Training with exception of Horse Racing which has a ‘Stable’ mode to train your horse.-Golf: Similar to Mario Golf World Tour except no open world map view and limited courses. In fact most mini-games in this collection have limited courses.-Tennis: Similar to Mario Ultrasmash (Wii U) or Mario Tennis Open (3DS), but like golf, no course variety. Power up system is similar as they’re not over the top, and can be initiated by one or two button presses once a glowing circle icon is present on the field-Soccer: If you love Super Mario Strikers then you’ll be very disappointing as this is a very stripped down version of it. No personalized power ups and the field seem very small in terms compared to the GameCube game. You get your basic pass, long pass, kick and slide mechanic. If you dribble the ball long enough it will glow to where you can do a special kick that’s faster and harder for the goalie to block-Baseball: Very basic compared to Mario Super Sluggers. As a pitcher, you select your type of throw then a circle appears with a yellow and/or red section. You try your best to press a button and hit the red area at a better chance of the opponent not hitting the ball. As a batter you just have to watch the ball and swing at the right time. Each character have a dif.
Great variety of games. Golf is especially good.
Directions very confusing. No characters have to be unlocked
I love being able to play more than one sport without having to switch games and building up my players to make them better.

Honestly, the past several years had proven to exactly be hard for Nintendo, and so much of their video gaming empire. After 30 years, Nintendo really had a loss after the diminished sales of the Nintendo Wii U, which failed to eclipse and continue the massive appeal Nintendo delivered upon in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s with the original Wii system. But that has also hit the Nintendo 3DS too, with more people opting to go with apps for the tablets and smartphones for price and amusement. But overall, Nintendo has lately been delivering with the Nintendo 3DS, with some very strong and solid titles like the underrated Super Mario Maker and Mario Party: Star Rush. The games have been delivering, and prove that Nintendo is back and up & running for the handheld market. What is also more interesting for Nintendo, is that they have also decided to really roll out the red carpet with great games for the system, instead of rehashes. But their latest title may be considered a rehashing, but at the end it is fun overall for sports junkies.Mario Sports Superstars for the Nintendo 3DS is a real tried and true return for the system, and game that is more of a collage of the best of Mario Sports games from the past that delivered so well with the legacy Mario has continued to flourish with. The game takes on a collection of the best kinds of games that have been on Nintendo’s systems before: baseball, soccer, golf, tennis and horse racing, featured in Mario & Sonic at the 2016 Olympi.

Preordered 3 of these for my 3 boys ranging 10-13 and they really like it and seem to enjoy playing. It keeps them busy and they love everything that has Mario in it:) it does challenging them too!

I’d been waiting for this game to come out for months. Haven’t been disappointed playing it so far. I’m really not sure why ccritics have given it mediocre reviews because it is a 100% playable, fun, effective sports title for your handheld.Baseball is a game I’ve enjoyed on handhelds since Original Game Boy but baseball games have never been great n handhelds. This version of baseball is lively and the power up/specials aren’t so exagerated that they slow the game down. I enjoyed the ability to change the fielder’s positions (which u can’t control individual out fielders but this seems fine)–and the ability to save your costumized team.Next I wanted to play soccer/football—-11 on 11 with lots of team customization options. The characters on the screen appear large enough to tell what’s going on. Smooth, fast, fun gameplay. No complaints.Tennis on this version was more enjoyable to me than Mario Tennis open. The gameplay just seems more fluid and the special animations don’t last so long they ruin the fast pace. As with all games on here, the replays are enjoyable, quick and skipable.Horse racing is a super fun new thing and so is the "stable" which works a little like Pokemon-Amie but better. Horse racing feels very fresh and new. This is the one I chose to play online and had no frame rate issues but did get beat very badly! LOLGolf. I just hate it and always have, going back to the Game Boy yet I keep trying it. I thought this version was "easie.
