It is a good game don’t get me wrong, but I was a bit disappointed with it. Unlike most otome games you don’t have any choices to make aside from picking a side (Good or Bad Apple) and who’s rote you want to do. Also there was no hidden route and the game was much shorter then I expected. However, I love the characters and did cry in a few routes, but yeah overall it was fun playing….well more just reading then playing but yeah lol xD

I saw this before it was announced to be localized and I was actually contemplating whether my incomplete Japanese lessons would be able to get me through this game. When I saw an English version on retrolio I was so excited I pre-ordered it on the spot. I’ll probably kick myself when it goes down in price in a month or two, but I live for otomes!!Anyway, I have now completed a route and am halfway through a second so I can now give a bit more thorough of a review. Firstly, I will say I think that even if people are fans of otomes not everyone will automatically like this game. I can genuinely say I enjoyed it for what it was though, but I’m an otome junkie. Regardless, this is not a Code: Realize, or even a CollarxMalice. Be warned that if you like otomes with dialogue choices you won’t get much of thus. Any of those, truth be told. What route you’re playing isn’t quite as arbitrary to pick as say, Period Cube. But it doesn’t require carefully picking the dialogue that will most appeal to the love interest of your choice either. You have points early in the game where you decide where the protagonist should go on the map, and there are different color-coded circles (each corresponding to one of the 4 guys who are automatically available to romance). It’s very easy to tell early on whose color is whose. Their clothes and text boxes match. So you simply have to go to their location and it will initiate their route. Actually, the game makes it even easier by letting you pick if y.

It’s a shame that this otome has far less reviews than other titles also released by Aksys. I assume that’s due in part to the fact that the limited edition was only purchasable through Game Stop, and it’s not immediately apparent that you can still write a review even though the product was not purchased through retrolio. I wasn’t aware of the fact until recently either, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong.I do like Bad Apple Wars, and I’d have no problem with replaying it again. The story is straightforward in its reveals, but of course, those reveals must be discovered through each route. I liked the characters, and there were many lively ones who were voiced but had no portrait of their own, which is a shame. I liked love interests, and it was interesting how the game worked around the issue of the guy not necessarily being born in the same era. This isn’t really a spoiler, since it’s explained with your first actual conversation with the Bad Apples. And overall, even though a lot of same days are repeated in each route, I never felt like it dragged because there were enough little changes of perspective and dialogue. Which is always a plus

Loved it! Great story and interesting characters, so if you love dating sims, pick it up!

I did like the art style, the characters and their route, but with the timeline I was hoping for it to diverge into a different storyline early on. Overall, I liked the game, the music and the characters! Would recommend!
