There are a lot of people out there who are overly harsh on this title because it is NOT a typical Banjo Kazooie game. Yet, the reality of it is that the gameplay of Banjo Kazooie simply doesn’t age that well. Similar to Mario 64 and Gex from a couple of generations ago, it was designed around small levels with multiple tasks to perform to unlock “jiggies”, the equivalent of Mario’s stars. Yet, what was fun ten years ago isn’t nearly as fresh or fun as it used to be.Rare recognized this fact, and set out to create a new style of game that incorporates an old character into a totally new way of playing, and even spends a great deal of time mocking those old games in the process. Sure, there are platforming elements here; the entire central hub/town is designed around jumping, balancing on wires, finding hidden objects, etc… But the real meat and potatoes of this game is the Lego-like design aspect that allows you to (very easily) make working vehicles that perform different tasks. Each world offers up several different challenges, and though those worlds will be revisted over and over again there will be plenty to see and do. Tasks vary from standard races, to playing soccer, to designing vehicles that can carry coconuts from one point to another within a given time limit. Some of these tasks might feel repetitive after a while, but the game recognizes this and gives you so many OTHER things to do that you can simply leave for five hours and come back to it later if you want..

My son wanted this game for his birthday but we are now fighting over who gets to play it. He is such a pig and won’t let Mommie play. At least I can hear him enjoying it from outside of his bedroom door. Maybe I need to buy my own copy just so I can get some preactice in.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t very excited about this game when I heard about it. An N64 platformer, made into a…vehicular platformer? And yet, that’s exactly what this game is. And while it sounds crazy, that is the key to its success. This game turns you loose with some parts and encourages you to experiment. This free-form experimentation is what makes this game so fun.The first thing that one notices about this game is its sense of humor. It doesn’t take anything seriously, including itself. The characters tend to be pretty funny, although after a while some can start to get a little annoying. The actual on-foot exploration and platforming feels dated and slow. Fortunately, this game doesn’t involve much in the way of traditional platforming. Why walk somewhere when you can fly, drive, or bounce your way there? The key feature of Nuts and Bolts is the vehicle creation tool. Simple to understand but surprisingly deep, it allows you to create virtually anything you want. The only caveat is that you need to explore the hub town to find many of the good parts that will let you build more exotic things like planes and helicopters. At the beginning of the game it was a little frustrating to find that I couldn’t build these more advanced vehicles, but I quickly found “parts crates” and was able to keep building. And at this point, building vehicles is what keeps me coming back to the game. The story is mildly entertaining, and serves as the catalyst for inspiring you to bui.

    My wife loves this game.

Rare is one of those companies – like Pixar and Nintendo – that can create entertainment suitable for both children and adults. Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is a brilliant game in both concept and execution. If you like the idea of tinkering with parts to create custom vehicles that exploit game physics this game will deliver in spades. The environments are lush, the characters are clever and funny, and the entire game is a blast.

I’m really enjoying this game, brings back memories from the first two. I already downloaded and beat the original banjo kazooie and I’m really excited for the second one to become available. One thing that is kind of a bummer is the overall plot of the game, kinda cheesey with the whole “Lord of the Games” thing. But I do understand that it’s a new time and new target for a different generation of kids. I highly reccomend this game for the banjo kazooie veteran or the newcomer.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t gotten too far in the game yet, but it’s great so far. There’s plenty of self-referential humor in here, and the N64 even has a small cameo. I don’t remember the last time I laughed this hard at a video game. I’m enjoying the building mode, lots of potential and variation to mix things up. I will definitely be playing for a while.

Banjo Kazooie is an interesting game, I love the mix of platforming and vehicle creation that this game allows; when put against a task there are multiple methods of completing this task by creating a default vehicle using the included blueprints of designing your own vehicle. If you enjoy platformers, this is the game for you!

I understand that this game is a disappointment for many considering the legacy it was burdened with, but I still think it’s an objectively good game. I played this when it first came out and I had never played the N64 games so I just enjoyed it in a vacuum and had fun building cars. The lego style car building experience is easy to understand and the progression through the game is well-designed and keeps you interested in the things you are building. It also has great replayability (I still dig it up every few years) and I don’t know of anything else like it (the closest is Kerbal Space Program but that doesn’t have the gameplay aspect, just the building). I also really enjoy the art and style, which isn’t usually something I care about in games. So overall, I know it wasn’t what a lot of people were hoping for but I think this is a great game

It is really fun but it is not really time consuming i could not wait to play this classic again
