Super easy plug and play with the Xbox, and styled to look great with it. Once unpacked and plugged in to the USB port my xbox instantly recognized it and asked me to either use it for media or to format it for games. Once formatted it asked if I would like to make it the default location for game installs. Once that was finished I decided to move all the games on the internal drive to this one, which was easy to do from the game/app screen. I now have 72% of free space on the internal and only used roughly 25% of this drive with 30+ games on it. Great purchase for someone who has a lot of games or media for xbox.

Great storage unit. I use it for my Xbox one, I plugged it in and it synced automatically. My Xbox kept having problems and was super slow. After putting my games on this my Xbox is lightning fast again. It is very sleek and I never notice it on top of my counsel.

We have four xbox ones in our household and the installs for certain games can be massive. Even with a 1TB HDD, it will take no time at all to fill it up with a few AAA titles. Gears of War 4 or Halo 5 by themselves are over 100 GB a piece along with several other titles coming in with massive downloads too. We placed this with our main Xbox One X that is used in the living room, because that is the one we use to play local games together like fighting games or sports games and such. It adds a massive boost and is nice that you can truly make an entire library that is ready to access right away. The install couldn’t be easier! You just stick it in a usb slot in your xbox, it will ask you if you want it for pictures, music, etc. or would you like it to put games on it. If you choose the latter, it will format it and then it asks you if you would like to use this for the default storing area and that’s it. Anytime now, when you download a game or dlc, it will automatically store it on there instead of the internal HDD. You can also move something from the internal to the external, although this pauses anything you have downloading until it is finished. I was a bit nervous that the performance would go down a bit by using this, but I haven’t noticed any and have tried games that I played on both the internal and external. I’m not exactly sure how durable it is, but I don’t really want to find out. It’s in a plastic box, so I don’t really think it could take too much abuse. I’m t.

I bought this to replace my Seagate Expansion 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STEB5000100) which failed recently after about 4 years of use. I think the drive got corrupted due to power outages – might be a good idea to use a small UPS to keep xbox+hub free from such, particularly when the drive is writing.I have hundreds of games installed on my xbox from years of Games with Gold and several of my purchases being digital.I am in the process of reinstalling them all, but should have few Tb free after all done.I bought it on a discount, as a new 12Tb model is coming out, but figured 8Tb is enough for me.Note when they say 8Tb, they really mean 8,000,000,000 (which is less than 8Tb) with just over 7Tb usable. This unit is so much better than my old unit – It is virtually silent (old unit ticked all the time, even when not in use – figured was Xbox updated or something, but now just think it just was a crappy drive)I really wanted SDD or hybrid, but those units are still expensive, and not guaranteed to work best on XBox USB3.0 connnection, as heard somewhere that USB 3.1 SDD/Hybrid drives do not work well, so decided to play it safe for now and get the 8Tb Hub.It seems faster also than my old drive, but I may just be imagining thisI really like the USB hub, which I can use to charge my Xbox controller when I have something else plugged into the XboxI was hesitant on the white color (having a black xboxonex) but it actually matches my shelves above my tv, so is ok.So far.

I have over 100 games, 30 which are One X enhanced. After installing every game I own I still have 50% free hard drive space. I have to buy a lot more games before storage is ever an issue again. An external hard drive is an essential purchase for every Xbox owner. But it’s really upsetting so many people have trouble with their Seagates.Mine is going strong after 3 months. Its a great product while it’s working. I’ll update this if it fails.—————–UPDATE: After 6 months it’s still going strong. There have been absolutely no issues and I couldn’t recommend it more. The speed difference between the main console and the external is indistinguishable. And I don’t see any signs of it failing. I don’t know, did the other reviewers store their external hard drive ON TOP of your console? Did you overheat your hard-drive? (it actually is very tempting, the cord is pretty short and the green is a bit garish). The built-in Xbox hard drive space is very, very limiting. Get a hard drive, it is a huge improvement, especially if you’re doing something like GamePass. Just download EVERY GamePass game. Then they’re ready to go. More importantly, I have Xbox Live. It’s monthly, it’s expensive, and it basically does one thing: let’s me stay in contact with my friends. If both my friend and I have data storage issues, we will never play games together with busy schedules. Without this I might say “hey let’s play Forza” my friend will “I uninstalled it yesterday” and then we don’t catch.

This thing is a life saver needed extra space due to the fact that I bought an Xbox one 500 GB. This was just what I neeeed. Works great! The price really ain’t bad because it would cost the same or more if you bought a regular seagate external hard drive.

I’ve read several bad reviews and many good ones on this external HD! I purchased mine a couple months ago and am totally happy with it thus far! I use it for storage and to swap games between my 2 consoles! I don’t keep it plugged in 24/7 to eliminate wear and tear, so I only actually plug it in when I’m gonna back something up or transfer out to internal storage! I highly recommend this drive for anyone that has to delete a game every time you want to download a new one cause you are scrambling for HD space!

This was my first experience in purchasing an external hard drive for the Xbox One and honestly I don’t see anything that could make me feel like it wasn’t a good purchase. It works as it should, it’s simple to use, just “plug and play”. After plugging it in, it did it’s formatting and was ready for use! What I like most about this is that there are no additional power cables, just the USB cable that connects to the console.Pros-Easy to useMaintenance FreePlug & PlayCons-None

So far I love this thing. I connected it and filled about a 1/2 gig with Xbox 1 and 360 games. The games have a little faster load times on this HDD than if the games were installed on the internal.Xbox One games are freaking HUGE in comparison to 360 games so if you’re buying someone an Xbox One who prefers to keep their game collection through digital download instead of having a bunch of plastic cases sitting around, then grab this HDD. It’s inexpensive, fast and well worth the money.

The hard drive itself is small in size and memory given I got the one terabyte, could not even imagine the 500GB one. Overall it’s small easy to hook up and had noticeable decrease in load times especially with Destiny 2 and other games. I would recommend getting the 2TB one but it’s a bit pricey. Even the 1TB is a lot. If you are on a budget I would look into getting another external that has more memory for a lower price. But if you’re a hardcore Xbox/gamer and want that little extra decrease and load time go for it
