Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate 3DS
Set several months after the events of Batman: Arkham Origins, and serving as something of a companion release to the console versions of that game, Blackgate once again finds players fighting crime as the Caped Crusader, albeit in a side-scrolling, 2.5D manner. A mysterious explosion at the titular prison let Joker, Penguin, and Black Mask each form a small army and take over sections of the penitentiary. Gamers guide Batman along a set path through a variety of 3D environments, engaging in hand-to-hand combat and using his detective vision and gadgets to reach new areas.

I’ve been chomping at the bit to be able to play one of the “Arkham” games. I’ve “played” them before, but I decided a while back that I was done buying new big screen systems… Right now I’m rocking the old school NES, the Super NES, the Sega Genesis, the N64, the PS2, and the Nintendo Wii. After the Wii I decided I was done with big screen, simply because all of these previous systems have their gems. I love the NES for Ducktales… I love the Sega Genesis for Chakan and Sonic, I love the SNES for Zelda (which is still my favorite Zelda), N64 for Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye… PS2, Vice City (and several others)… I think the Wii is the weakest link… Some games are good, don’t get me wrong. Anyway, getting aside the point… I see all these new games like Arkham Asylum, the new Mortal Kombat, Grand Theft Auto 5, and they all look remarkable! But my collection is already far too big for the amount of time I spend playing video games as an adult…ANYWAY, so I made the decision that anything new I’d focus on portables, because portables take less room. I still haven’t gotten a Vita yet because nothing really amazing has caught my eye as far as games are concerned.The 3DS… and more specifically, the 3DS XL is a great system. I think Resident Evil: Revelations kinda paved the way for me as far as potential this system has. The 3D feature is great and all, but much like the Wii Nunchuck system, I try it once and then want to go back to basic. With the Wii I ju.
