This game is a super simple system (you do one of three actions each turn), but with a ton of strategy and variability to consider. There are so few actions, and each one progresses you further into your deck (by drawing cards or playing them), so you need to make the right choices. Excited to see the system expand with more and more characters.

Me encantó el juego, es lo suficientemente rápido como para abrir o cerrar la sesión de juegos y cada personaje es levemente diferente, lo suficiente como para querer probarlos a cada uno sin tener que aprender reglas adicionales

My family is a board game family. They love good campaigns and strategy. This game doesn’t take all night, but still snagged them. If you are a real gamer- you will read tons of descriptions, but if you are a mom of a board gamer family— buy this one. Worth it. They already bought two expansions.

This is a great game to play with your buddies while drinking. As always when learning a new game, my friends tend to complain about the ‘overload’ of information, but we were ready to start playing in around 5 minutes, with the last few rules explained when they became necessaryI explained the basics:1) The objective of getting your opponents’ health to 02) You have two actions per turn3) Combat is driven by cards; each player playing 1 card face down, then revealing simultaneously4) You can move, and when you do you get (have) to draw a card5) Each character has unique abilities and decks, which make for great asymmetric playThat was enough to get the game started, and while we were playing, I explained the rules of movement, zones for ranged attacks, etc. These friends are usually reluctant to play board games with me, but they seemed to really enjoy the ~30 min of playing.Despite the simplicity of the combat system, it allowed itself to have a ton of “take that” moments. My friends were able to make simple but momentum-shifting plays in a single turn. Unfortunately, I died first in our 1v1v1 game, but it was a great experience. Even watching them play and do things I didn’t expect them to do was fun.Highly recommend! This is one of those games that I want all the expansions for. More characters = more variability = more fun!

I wish I had heard about this game sooner. I would easily have started to play it when it first released! The gameplay is incredibly easy to pick up and learn. The characters in this first edition are pretty cool. Our first game was Sinbad v Medusa v King Arthur. There is a whole lot of variety in the characters and their moves. I cannot wait to try out the expansions! Highly recommended!

Great skirmish game! Uses cards for attacking and defending no lucky dice rolling. Its easy to learn one of the best entry level games without feeling to simple

    Great game

2-4 players, Competitive, Fantasy Tactical SkirmishDesigner: Rob Daviau, JR Honeycutt, Justin D. JacobsonArtwork: Oliver BarrettPublisher: Restoration GamesRelease Year: 2019Origin StoryThe Unmatched series of games had been out for a while before I finally took the plunge. Most of the earlier released sets didn’t really capture my attention due to the characters used. However, that all changed with the release of the Jurassic Park set. I preordered that one as soon as I got the opportunity and it really opened my eyes to the entire series. Over the following weeks after acquiring that set I systematically purchased all the other sets because I was so impressed with multiple aspects of the game. So, over the next few weeks I will be writing up reviews for each set (which you can view on my site), starting with the first set released; Unmatched: Battle of Legends, Volume One.Overview of GameplayEach game in the Unmatched series has the same basic ruleset. Players will choose a character to play as and collect their corresponding deck of cards. On the board players will place their miniatures on the starting spaces for each player and then draw up five cards from their deck as their starting hand. Play will then go back and forth between players each taking two actions which translate to movement/draw a card, attacking and/or playing a “scheme” card. The winner is the player who is able to reduce the other player’s health to zero first.Let’s go into a bit more depth with the ac.
