As players of many Settlers/Carcassonne/Seven Wonders types games it is always nice to have some quick and easy games to explain and to play and HTMF is just that. The only criticism with the travel sized game is that the discs are slightly hard to pick up when you have to remove them but a toothpick or fine knife will do the trick. This is probably more of an in betweener on a games night when you just need a quick refresh between longer games but it is fun and there is definitely some strategy involved which changes depending on your opponents. Fun game.

I love this game! It’s good for adults and children. It’s a pretty simple game that is easy to learn and easy to play, but yet there is strategy involved.

This has become my go-to casual game when I’m in a group of 4 or less looking to have some fun for a few minutes. The basic rules are so simple that I’m never hesitant to include new players, but the complexity and cutthroat action that emerges keeps the game fresh and satisfying during repeated play. The travel size version is well constructed and fairly well detailed. All of the pieces can even fit in one of the included plastic bags, for an extra bit of portability. My girlfriend happily chucks this in her purse whenever we head out to the bars.

As advertised, but the ice flows are hard to pick up without moving the rest. I use a dental instrument to help pick up the ice flow from within ice pack.

First off, do not let the fact that this is a travel sized game deter you. After having played numerous games, the size of the tiles and penquin models are ideal. Much bigger and you would have to have a larger playing area to play. I love how small it is for storage or transport, but it is plenty big enough to play. The game mechanics themselves are very simple and easy to learn. It is playable by children (it was a Christmas present for my 4-year-old, and she adores it) but there is enough strategy to make it fun for adults. The games are fast-paced. I can’t see one playing longer than 15 minutes, with no real down time. Also, the tiles amd models are all sturdy and of the excellent quality we have come to expect from Fantasy Flight.Thematically, this is a refershing change from all the wargames and dungeon crawls. It is a family friendly contest between penquins to grab the most fish on a very rapidly shrinking ice flow.Overall, this is a great game and a great value.

Bought this for my wife (who loves board games) as a stocking stuffer last Christmas. We brought it with us as we made the rounds visiting family, and even relatives who usually don’t like board games joined in for a round or two and had fun. Strategy is easy to understand, but surprisingly deep for a ‘little’ game.

We LOVE this game! It sets up quickly and plays in less than 10 minutes with 3-4 players. While the rules are very simple to follow, there is a fair level of strategy involved while playing. For example, the rules state that you want to be careful that you do not strand your penguin on an ice floe, but that can work to your advantage if you are able to intentionally strand your penguin on a LARGE ice floe as it allows him to fish unchallenged by other penguins. My kids ASK to play this often – and since we purchased the smaller (and much more economical) travel size, we can easily take it with us where ever we go! Fantasy Flight Games gets an A+++ from our family!

We don’t generally spend a lot of time playing board games as a family, but we love this one! My kids are ages 8 and 12, and this is a really fun, engaging game. It challenged our strategic thinking skills and entertained us. Well worth the purchase!

This game is super easy to learn and easy to play. It’s great for game nights when you need something to do while another game is finishing up. Or just if people are getting frustrated with more complicated games!
