Just like the original castlevania, but with more stages and you can play as three additional characters. It took me a long time but I did finish this game back in the day with all three extra characters. the final stage is murder

Iv’e have to be honest.. I have not even got to the second level and I love the game. ive seen it on youtube and I love the music it’s amazing. i am looking on finishing it soon. only problem is that the whip is delayed and jumps are frustrating but it’s a challange. only thing i hate are medusa omg sooo annoying.

“Trevor Belmont is the great-grandfather of Simon Belmont. It is the year 1476, and Dracula has waged a war against humanity due to the death of his wife Lisa, who was burned at the stake after being accused of witchcraft. The people of Warakiya have called upon Trevor to save them from the wrath of Count Dracula.” – The manualHow sad is that? I now pity for the prince of darkness because I have to whip his sorry butt for good until Super Castlevania IV for the SNES comes out. I love this game. You get to be, along with T-Bel, Dracula’s son, Alucard(That’s Dracula spelled backwards), this dead girl, Syphia Belnades, whose family was slain for being witches and was then called up to rid Europe of Dracula, Grant DaNasty, a former pirate and another person whose family was killed by Dracula. I think Dracula’s going to get it. :)

Came in one time great I never had NES game as kid great to finally purchase them great game!

  7. Jeff Johnson

This is a platform fighter game that incorporates some from Castlevania I, in that you have a solid quest, and Castlevania II where you have a choice as to the leg of the path you chose. This game has amazing new features, characters and weapons! You start the game as Trevor Belmnot, vampire hunter who’s goal as usual is to kill Dracula. On your quest, you meet up with Sypha, who is a magician with powerful and awesome spells. Grant who is a theif and who may stick to walls and ceilings… it is difficult to get him to stick though. Alucard who is Dracula’s son, he doesn’t offer much other than turning into a bat. Along the quest there are several new and old monsters, bosses and challenges. This game is very challenging, so much so that it does get annoying, and the game has probably the greatest graphics ever for Nintendo!

If you have ever played Castlevania one or two then you know the series has challenge. But it is nothing like this. Dracula decided he isn’t screwing around anymore and is out for your blood. If you want the rundown go watch the Angry Video Game Nerd’s video on it. If you want go in blind, by all means. It is still a good game and will challenge you to think on your feet. I wish more games in this day and age did that.

This one is easily the strongest release of the NES Castlevanias. It goes back to the approach taken in the original game, but with some new features to add to the gameplay. Taking control of Trevor Belmont, and ancestor of Simon’s, you are joined along the way by Grant, Sypha, and Alucard. Along the course of gameplay, you can choose paths when you come to forks in the road, which will change how one experiences this game (which really adds to the replay value). There are other smaller additions in the form of new level mechanics and new types of enemies. Overall, this installment of the series polished up quite a bit of the gameplay found in Castlevania. This game is extremely hard though, but that’s not a bad thing. It finds a balance between fun and aggravation that keeps me playing, and that made beating it all the more satisfying. To top it off, the graphics and music are awesome. Castlevania III was one of the best game buys I’ve ever made.

There’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said. But I do want to make it clear, that this game WILL work in a Retron 3. That’s the clone console I have and it plays just fine. I’ve read other reviews that said it wouldn’t work on any clone console, and while that may be true for other clone consoles, it definatly works in a Retron 3.
