Mirror of Fate is the kind of game that you can’t put down. With excellent level design and very tight controls, as a standalone castlevania adventure it is a great entry into the series. The game feels like a combination of Super Castlevania 4 and Lord of Shadows. Platforming and enemy placement feeling as though much care was placed in it. While combat is the combo based affair from the last Lord of Shadows game. The only thing holding the game back is the lack of replay. After the second play through there is nothing left to do.

A nice return to form with some modern updates. I played all the Castlevania games for the DS as well as this game’s predecessor for the Xbox 360. It’s a side scroller/platformer that incorporates some of the combat system from the Lord of Shadows. It’s has a nice balance and plays really well. Unlike the games that came before which heavily borrowed from Symphony of the Night with a ton of customization, this game doesn’t do too much of that in detail, which I like. Not every game out there needs to be an RPG that allows you change out your armor and switch between weapons and spells. It’s very simple and akin to the old school Castlevania games from the NES/SNES era. For an old school gamer, this is really awesome. It’s just you, some spells and your whip. I can dig it.

Son loves this.

This game is very addictive. I rate it four stars bc of my personal opinion: im not a big fan of 2d gameplay. It is similar to Batman: Arkham Origins, Blackgate. But, besides my personal preference, this game is very fun with a good storyline and great graphics!!

Like a true Konami gamer the characters have shocking family revelations, monsters crawling out of the castle. So very cool.

Presentation and music are superb. Great for a pick up and play, it’s not overly difficult. This Castlevania is combat based, and does not have the typical ‘where do I have to go to progress’ feel that Metroidvania games have. This game got some overly critical review scores, but I am really enjoying it. Fun with some incredible 3d effects with the 3ds.

This was a gift for the grandkids and they seem to really like it.I don’t play them so I don’t have any first hand experience with it. sorry.

This is a great game! The only things that bring it down are the repetitive enemies, tedious combat, too many puzzles, and frustrating boss battles and quicktime events. I really like playing as Simon but by the time you get to Alucard who is way stronger with powers the make it into a grind fest. I would love to see less complex or frustrating puzzles and less tedious and difficult boss battles, and would it kill them to have a symphonic soundtrack like we are used to in Castlevania?!?!? I also despise the still frame comic cut scenes in this game seen in all too many 3DS titles like DOA Dimensions, Shinobi, etc… they cannot even make the characters move even their lips! The graphics and atmosphere on this game however are very good. I would give this game 5 stars if they would have fixed what I mentioned above, still a great game!
