Tsuro of the Seas is a great game. A group of us play this periodically on game night and it’s always a big hit. Your ship has to avoid the sea monsters whose moves are determined by the roll of the dice. Never boring.

A great party game which holds more than five players (can play up to eight). Very simple to explain. This is the expanded version of the original game: you can play the original way by navigating the seas, and the updated way by navigating it with dragons.Length of game play varies drastically: one game with five players, lasted less than ten minutes. Another game with five players lasted over an hour. Just expect that once a player is out of the game, they’re kinda hosed in sitting there and waiting for the rest of the other players to slowly be eliminated. One player can be ousted the the first five minutes and then having to wait for that extra half hour for the game to finish for the others.

We bought this game on the recommendation of a friend. I didn’t even know there were two versions until I started looking for a youtube video because I was so confused. So hopefully here are some helpful tips for an amazing game.Buy this set, but play it without the dragons first. This will allow you and your kids to get used to creating your wake and just staying on the board.I have always been confused with the numbers for placing the dragons, but as pointed by another reviewer, just use 3 and 4 as the same row and all will be well. Thank you for that previous reviewer!Last, but not least watch a youtube video on how to place and move the dragons, the instructions in the game are absolutely terrible, although I’m not sure how you would explain it any better. Be careful some youtube videos have you do it incorrectly anyway and we were still reviewing the game rules.Overall this is an insanely fun game, the element of the dragons gives suspense for my son, which he loves. Without the dragons its all about strategy, but with them it adds a twist of uncertainty which is great. My 9 year old asks to play and my daughter who is six also enjoys it and understands it. A must have for any family!

Fun, fairly simple strategy game mixed with some luck. Good game to ease in to strategy board games because of that. Serious players can enjoy planning out their moves, while casual players can still enjoy choosing their move easily. I like the style of the board & ship playing pieces. You can play with or without sea monsters (like original Tsuro) to adjust the game. Play time was as expected. Have played several times since we got it with 3-6 players, mostly adults but did have some teenagers play and enjoy. Sometimes players did end out of the game kinda quick, but "house rules" of respawning to continue the fun fixes that. I’m happy to add it to our collection. (Other most played games in this house: Sorry! & Forbidden Desert)

Tsuro of the Seas can be played as if it were the original Tsuro – a great bonus for those with limited shelf space. The addition of the dragons as a random element encourages greater flexibility in player’s plans. These things said, this could have been done as a set of expansion tiles and it would probably do quite well for itself. The chosen color scheme for the board makes the path somewhat difficult to distinguish from the background at a casual glance- an issue not present in the original game.

Sailing is the heart of the ship, please don’t fall overboard!

Bought this as a gift, partially for the artwork, for someone who grew up in Japan. We played with a full number of players. We enjoy cooperative games and played this as if it was one, trying to stay out the way of others and trying to help everyone stay on board as long as possible. The game was not intended to be played that way but we had a very good time anyway. With fewer players it would probably make a nice competitive game but I have not had the chance to play that way.

This is a quality game that’s perfect when you want to get a strategy game in, but don’t have a ton of time (it only takes about a half hour). I also really like that it can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 8 players, and the theme is pretty darned cool, too. It’s quick to learn, and you can teach it to others easily. The components are quite good, with a quality board, ship pieces, and game tiles. My only minor criticism is that board game veterans will not find much depth here, but that’s not the intention of Tsuro of the Seas. Four stars!

The folks who made this game went way out of their way to make sure everything was top-notch. There’s an extreme attention to detail, and it shows. The artwork is amazing, and the package design, even down to the instructions, is incredible. I purchased this game, rather than the original Tsuro because The Seas allow you to play the original game (without the sea-monsters) or with the sea-monsters, which make it a totally different game. That makes it a Two-fer!The placement and movement of the monsters can be a little daunting at first, but once you’ve done it once it becomes second nature.Would highly recommend to anyone. It’s a quick board game and I think people of all ages will enjoy it.

I had the original Tsuro for years. But, this one can be played like the old Tsuro if you like. Plus, there are other features that can be added when you get bored of the regular Tsuro gameplay. The daikaiju really add another layer of fun to the game. I gave away my Tsuro copy after purchasing this version. The only thing I don’t like that much is the boat pieces, but this is a purely aesthetic problem I have with the game. These pieces are too large and unwieldy compared to the ones used in Tsuro. They also seem to be made out of the same colored plastic as the original Tsuro pieces. This would not be a problem, except that the color scheme of everything else has changed. These pieces clash with the cool-color scheme of the board and the cards. But, this minor gripe of mine does not affect gameplay. It is still very fun and I still think it deserves 5 stars for that.
