We played the original version of this game at my son’s house. When we got home, my wife told me to look it up on retrolio and get a copy for us. We opted for this version of the game solely because my wife liked the graphics on this board better. At some point, we might look at playing with the expanded rules that this version introduces, but probably not. You can play on this board with the original rules. Those rules can be learned in less than 2 minutes. The game has enough chance to prevent the play from getting too intense, but there is enough opportunity for displays of skill to keep everyone interested. The game plays best with four or more players. This is the game you pull out when you want something to enhance the conversation, but not dominate it. A full game can be played in less than 30 minutes with the actual time depending on the number of players and how quickly they care to play.

Really fun game. I had been eyeballing this for a while and finally broke down and bought it. The box and game are beautifully illustrated and it feels like a quality game. I’ve only been able to play a few times but with only two people it goes fairly quickly with the amount of Daikaiju that it recomends to put out on the board. Our games typically pnly lasted a few turns before we had to start over. We plan to play this again soon but with more people, as I feel adding more players will allow for longer game play and more strategy. I really like the concept and art style of the game and feel that it was still a good investment despite the short gameplay. Sometimes though, that’s all you want!

Lots of fun to play. I play with 3 people and we have a blast. There’s enough strategy to keep the game fun but not so much that people take 20 minutes to lay a tile like in some games. Its also relatively easy to learn. If you’re having troubles with the rules, I suggest youtube over the rule book personally. Its fast enough paced to where those that aren’t really into board games will still enjoy it, yet slow paced enough to where you’re OK to take a bathroom break after your turn and not miss anything game changing. You can play both the original Tsuro game and this version with this board, so don’t buy the original.

I love having the options of playing with or without the sea serpents. it changes the the whole feel of the game. but the serpents can add the chaos to a lost cause , when they pop into the game and wipe out opponents . definitely a favorite !!!!

Download the rules for original Tsuro and this game can serve as both.Tsuro is great because it’s quick to set up and play. This version adds more complexity and can lengthen the game. But I’ve found with my sons that usually the game ends just as quickly because the increased number of variables increases both the strategy required and the element of chance.I’ll assume you know how to play Tsuro. This version adds in sea monsters that move about the board. As they move, they block your way, take out laid paths, and potentially destroy your ship. Dice drive the monsters actions. Everything else is up to you…where you go, what path you lay, etc. Each turn is a little longer because you resolve the monsters each time, but the flow is quickly learned and it is still a quick pace. The instructions take a little processing to understand. But a test turn or two makes it clear if simply looking at the rules and game pieces doesn’t allow you to connect the dots. The best part is that you don’t even need your basic Tsuro game anymore. You can ignore the monsters and simply play it as the basic game. However, because the monsters can destroy path pieces, this version has more than enough to fill the board, so either you need to set some path pieces to the side as well, or accept that the end-game dynamic may be slightly different.

I play this with my 4 and 5yo all the time, and it’s great. Some key things that are important to me for playing with them:*No required modification of rules.*No reading required – There is not a single word to be read (other than the rules, which I explain to them, of course).*Luck that comes from dice rolling – Too much strategy and they get frustrated. Fortunately, they don’t really understand that dice rolling makes it high on luck, but they don’t seem to be bothered by that either.*Short playtime – You know kids, they get bored easily.Although it’s a heavily “luck” weighted game because of the dice rolling, that works perfectly with my kids. They love rolling the dice, figuring out if they “woke the dragons”, and then trying to get away. It plays in about 20-25 minutes when the three of us play together, so sometimes we can even get two games in.I go into much greater detail about imagery that might be scary, how easy it is to manipulate the pieces, and more:

Bought this for my mom for Christmas. Played it a couple days later and was a little confusing at first but got better as we played more. Fun time with the family.

I love Tsuro. So it’s no surprise I love Tusro of the Seas. This game, like the original, is easy to set up, easy to learn, and easy to play. Plus it’s a quicker game, most only last 20 minutes or less. Which is nice if you want to fit in multiple games in a night (or TableTop Day!). Always a great time with friends!

Easy to pick up and fun to play over and over again. This game is nice for those who like strategy but want an easy and quick game to play every once and a while that doesn’t take so much time and brain capacity. The artwork is absolutely stunning in this game! I can’t wait to pick up the expansion pack for some added fun!

Tsuro of the Seas, much like Tsuro Classic, is one of those games that is simple to learn and understand, but difficult to master. The sea monsters do add a bit of random luck which tempers the strategic edge a little, but I think the addition is welcome.I bought this game because it can be played by nearly anyone (neighbor’s 5-year-old absolutely loves it!), is quick and easy to teach, and is short (15-40 mins per game, depending on how much time each player dedicates to strategically placing their tiles). Perfect for any collection, and is a great game for kids wanting to step out of "kid games" and transition into full board games.4.5 stars rounded up to 5, as it fell out of our regular game rotation fairly quickly, but still finds itself played often as a breather between 4-hour sessions of Arkham Horror or Star Trek:Frontiers.
