If you love basic Tsuro, then you’ll love the added dimension of complexity that this version brings with the random interference of sea monstersQuick set up, fun simple game

A great board game for anyone. I don’t really like the rules for the non-player dragons added with this sequel, but you can just ignore them, and play classic Tsuro on a board that’s 1×1 larger. The basic game of Tsuro is so fun, and so easy to learn. People who have never played a board game aside from Monopoly are able to join in after 30 seconds of explanation.

  3. Scott T Shippert

I love this game. You can play the original version easily, which is a chill, drink with friends experience. Or make things a bit more strategic using the new additions included. Highly recommend.

Such a beautiful fun game. My 5-year-old loves it and my grown-up gamer friends love it. to be honest, I don’t think the addition of the daikaiju to the original game mechanic adds much to the game experience, but you can play without them and it’s just fine. But I would recommend this version over the original Tsuro because it might be nice to have the daikaiju option, and aesthetically I find the blue/beige sea theme more pleasing than the dragon-red color scheme of the original game. Also, the rules and accompanying papers are easier to read than the first version.

Easily one of our favorite games! Even our 5 year old has learned how to play and loves it! The dragons add such a fun element, and makes for faster game play.

Tsuro of the Seas expands upon the idea from Tsuro: The Game of the Path by adding a new level of complexity and some absolutely beautiful art. My Wife and I enjoy the original game and this game lives up to those standards. For those not familiar the general premise of Tsuro is that you construct winding paths across a game board by playing tiles from your hand. You want to avoid colliding with other players and running off the edge of the board, if either of those happen, its game over for you. The object is to be the last player left on the board. The game is a mixture of strategy and luck, you want to play your tiles carefully but you can only work with the tiles you have. Count on there being times where even careful strategy will be thwarted by bad luck with tiles.Tsuro of the Seas adds a new dimension to the game by adding what are essentially sea monsters. These replace tiles that would have been played otherwise and can move and shift through the course of the game by a dice roll that happens at the start of every turn. Now, in addition to avoiding your opponents and the edge of the board you need to avoid the sea monsters, too. This is a great new feature of the game, it adds a level of excitement that wasnt there before. But, at the same time, it makes things a little more complex. It took us a few minutes to get the hang of the new rules, both in terms of how to start and setup the game but also for how to play. Once we did, it wasn’t bad but it did he.

This game is awesome. We have plaid traditional tsuro for years. The addition of the sea monsters in this version is a nice change.

  8. Gregory Moffatt

Just like the original Tsuro you take turns placing tiles with multiple paths on them. Follow the paths and try to run your opponents off the board while trying not to be ran off yourself. Though you can play this one like the original, (why I wouldn’t buy the original) this one has an added feature of playing with sea monsters. So now you don’t only have to watch for your opponent running you off the board you also have to watch for them running you into a monster. Or for the monster running into you. (They move around the board.) A fun fast pace game easy to learn but never gets dull! Love playing this with my sons or a large group! I would rather buy this version over the original due to the fact you can pay either way with or without the sea monsters!

  9. teamredafro

It’s only getting four stars instead of five because 1) the art on the tiles isn’t as appealing to me as the original (less fluid, less clear) and 2) The dragons, while adding an additional element to the game, can ruin the game for people by getting them out early on.–>Get this game if you like the original but want to play with boats instead and have dragons attack you.–>Don’t get this game if you just want a simple game with simple strategy that is fun for everyone and doesn’t add more randomness to the game. Get the original one instead.

This game is great because it plays quickly but still makes you think. It is a great game for the end of game night when there isn’t enough time left for something like Settlers of Catan. It also works for up to 8 players, which is great. Many games only work for up to 6, so it is nice to have something to play when there are larger groups.
