Most coding toys consist of learning how to follow directions and perform various tasks by entering in (programming) steps of operation. This toy is no different, but Kinderbot is much more versatile than some of the other basic ones we’ve played with. This robot has three buttons which offer different modes of play: independent coding, challenges and secret codes. The code button is designed for free play, and allows kids to set up their own robot walking patterns by using up to ten directional arrow moves (forward, backward, left and right). During the process, Kinderbot is very chatty and engaging. He repeats back what the child has programmed in as he takes each step. The challenge button is just that—Kinderbot gives coding directions that kids must set up, and when several sequences have been successfully achieved, Kinderbot makes the next directive a bit more challenging. This is our kids’ favorite button because Kinderbot emits robotic squeaks, there’s lots of fun music and he dances to each correct set-up. Included with this toy is a booklet full of secret codes and a few accessory tools (plane, axle, wheel and wedge). The third button implements the booklet and tools—kids must recreate the step patterns they see in the code book. Six designs in the booklet make Kinderbot form shapes, four demonstrate early engineering concepts (lever, ramp, seesaw, obstacle course) and the last six codes are just for fun (shark fin, tap dancer, saxophone, etc). What ma.

My nephew loves this little robot! I bought this for him for Christmas because I like getting him things that help him learn and this robot is really good for a wide age range. He is only 3 years old and doesn’t yet understand all the functions, but he loves pushing the buttons and making him talk and move around. As he gets older he can discover new things to do with his robot. The coding is very simple and easy for adults, so I know my little nephew will figure it all out eventually. Of all the toys I looked at with this price point, this one seemed the most interesting and fun. I highly recommend this for anyone with a kid 3 – 6 years old.

Oh, this little robot is really too cute and fun!He was a Christmas gift for my three year old who is utterly robot obsessed and Kinderbot was the one thing he asked for over and over. We’ve played with him a few times and he’s really fun I think. He’s got fun lights, and colors, and sounds. He comes with a little pamphlet that has “secret codes” that you program him with to do things like roll around in different shapes- like circle, pentagon, rhombus, etc. and also explains what the shape looks like. He also has secret codes for things like “walking the dog” which he barks like a dog and rolls around in the directions programmed in the code, or “bulldozer” and makes bulldozer sounds, and “motorcycle” with corresponding sounds. This is also where you incorporate the added shape accessories, and you can set up an obstacle course with those pieces and program him to navigate it.I know, all of this sounds super challenging, but I promise they are VERY simple commands. Most are three buttons. And of course you can come up with your own commands and make him go any directions you want him to!He also makes cute “whoops” sounds if he falls over/gets knocked over. And he rolls very well on carpet. We have a very plush carpet in the living room and he’s had no problem getting around.I think it’s a very good start for learning how robotics and programming go together.I dont know if it’s me or my son who has more fun with this little robot lol.

Our 4 yr old grandson loves robots, so we thought his would be a fun learning and action-type toy for him. He is a little delayed and hyper for his age, so he really didn’t have the patience to “code” (punch-in) the directional buttons and then WAIT for the robot to follow it. He and younger sibling enjoyed watching the robot do it’s little “dance” but otherwise, they didn’t quite get how it worked. Hopefullly, parents will keep showing them how to use it and he will learn what it actually does. If your preschooler is super-active and doesn’t concentrate well, this is not the toy for them.

Purchased as a gift for my 3 year old son. He loves it! Had a little bit of a tough time at first following the directions, he just wanted to touch all the buttons and not really listen and react to what the robot says. But now (approx 3 months later) he does a great job with it. It’s a really fun and educational toy for him and very happy with my purchase

I was worried my 4 year old would be too old for it, but she’s the perfect age!!

My 4 year old son loves it. It’s very durable and programmed well. If he picks it up while it’s moving it makes a dizzy sound and stops. It has a cute little “personality†and dances when he wins a challenge.

Omg my almost 4 year old girls LOVE this toy and so do we! All month of December they said santa was bringing them a robot. I was a little stumped by all the options but I’m so glad we picked this one. Such a fun way for them to learn directions and coding! Plus low volume button is a good level to keep it from becoming obnoxious.
