I obtained DDR HP2 yesterday. My first DDR game and looks to be fun for exercise. I read the manual and it said to make sure to plug the included dance mat into the correct old-style Gamecube port on the Wii. What the manual does not tell you is that if you plug into the wrong port, you will still be able to work the menus with the dance mat.Hence, I plugged into the 4th port instead of 1st port and wondered why the mat was “broken” because it would not register any movement during the actual games. Switching to the correct port solved the issue. Some reviews mentioned broken mats and I wonder if this was the issue. Make sure you are really using port 1 on the Wii!

DDR2 fixes some of the problems from the first version. First, it actually saves your settings (I personally got tired of having to turn off the hand markers every time I started up the game). Also, it allows you to start the groove arena over as a different user if multiple people want the challenge. And other seemingly broken aspects of DDR1 are also fixed — the timing of arrows, difficulty level, etc actually WORK. I wish this had been the case in the original release. There’s also more help for beginners, like bars to show the beat/arrow timing you can turn on, and the ability to slow down the song and arrows to take on a new challenge. The songs – well, there’s a mix of good and not so good. But I think that’s to be expected. I got tired of dancing to the same songs over and over, so it’s refreshing and welcome. It also seems like they’re targeted towards easier play, with less difficulty on Difficult and Expert level. I haven’t unlocked every song yet.The graphics look better – both the dancers and stages. The Mii addition is kind of funny, but not that bad. You get a choice of certain Mii bodies to stick with your head, some better than others.Basically this is what DDR1 should have been. If you’ve got DDR1 and felt shorted, I think you’ll be glad to pick up DDR2. And if you’re a beginner, I’d skip DDR1 and go straight to this version.

  3. Surf

Just remember that it will take a little time (less than what I’ve read from other posters, though) to get used to placing your feet. Even that is fun, though. I have 1 injured knee and had to turn off the jumping so I could continue to play. The hand device is very useful to help with hand/foot coordination. Instead of watching a movie, we play this game and really enjoy it! The mat stays where it’s supposed to stay and appears to be of high quality. We did discover that no other mat seems to work with this, after calling multiple stores and asking. So, don’t go running out to buy a 2nd cheaper mat, it won’t work. We’ll just buy the mat that goes with this, if we decide to dance two-at-a-time and need the 2nd mat, as it’s a good quality mat and apparently the only one that will work.

  4. Gordo

Fantastic quality. This is definitely worth the money. Best DDR mat on retrolio, period.

  5. Osiricat

If you liked DDR I, then the Hottest party is for you. Lot of challenging new songs, you got the rhytm, go for it! You can always switch the level of difficult, I love this game, and of couse the included Mat is top quality

  6. DADDY ED

    DANCE MYSELF TO DEATH!

  7. N. Watson

DDR Hottest Party 2 brings hot music and good times into your living room. Its a wonderful way to dance some calories off too! I highly recommend this game. The music is fun and contemporary (w/ a few classic his from the 80s and 90s) and the steps range from the very simple to extreme challenge. Personally this is my first exposure to DDR and even several weeks into having the game I’m only comfortable enough to do the “Basic” level steps. I know this game will keep me interested for a long time to come.

  8. Federico anselmo

Es bueno. Comprar el juego y el tapete de baile.

  9. Darthvadernesto

This game will keep you moving and really giving you a workout while playing. Great for any ages.Graphics aren’t really the greatest, but they really don’t matter because all you are looking is at those arrows coming down very fast.Definitely will need some room space in your game area.

  10. Mom of an Artist

The kids have been playing this constantly since they received it for Christmas. They’ve had a blast trying to increase their expertise level and speed. I love that they are getting a good workout and are actually a little sore the next day, just as they would be after a workout at the gym. It’s been a success – I’ll look into getting a 2nd mat to take it to the next level of two playing/competing against each other. I’m sure it will be a great activity for when the kids have weekend sleepovers.
