Coming from the world of Wii DDR with the crinkly dance pad, I found this game to be really refreshing. No more floating arrows, this is actual choreography! What I like:-Different levels and styles of choreography so you really get your body moving-While some of the songs are repeats from DDR, I do like the soundtrack-The graphics and you as dancer on the stage are really engagingWhat I don’t like:-I miss the old DDR challenge where you unlock new songs, etc. by completing levels. Unlocking “titles” in DanceMasters seems like an afterthought of the game. All the available songs seem to be there at the beginning which some may prefer.Overall, I really do like getting the whole body involved while dancing with DanceMasters and would recommend dance and DDR fans alike to give this a try.

This is a real love-it-or-hate-it sort of game. I love it, but I’ll be the first to admit it’s not for everyone. Luckily there is a free demo available for download from Xbox Live (and I think you don’t need to be Gold to get it) so if your Xbox 360 is online, do give this game a try before buying.Dance Masters is to Dance Central what DDR is to Just Dance. Just Dance and Dance Central are great casual party games for everyone, young and old. However, Dance Masters and DDR are much more “niche”. I think they should have put this under the DDR brand umbrella, or called it Dance Evolution like they did in Europe, because it really is an evolved, matless DDR. Instead of matching marks on a mat, now you have to match marks in 3-D space with your arms and legs. Like DDR, a player doesn’t really look like they’re dancing; until you memorize the choreography, you’re going to look more like you’re clawing your way out of a giant cobweb or fighting off invisible aliens. Unfortunately, there’s no cueing or a training mode that lets you practice the songs; the only way to learn them is to play them. And there is a bit of lag between you and the screen (I think this is true for all Kinect games) but the game itself is very forgiving. The Light mode is very easy for even beginners to pass, and once you know the moves, you should be able to pass Extreme level or even Master.Unless you’re already a DDR fan, you probably won’t recognize the music. The soundtrack is mostly remakes o.

Not bad, but it is really really difficult, and not quite as much fun as Dance Central. I kind of just gave up playing it for the dance central.

If you like dancing games this is a good one to have.

Kinect had two Dance games at launch. Dance Central, and Dance Masters. You can’t help buy compare the two. I happen to like both. They are different though.Dance Central is more follow the moves the dancer is doing, and Dance Masters is a lot more like Dane Dance Revolution. Where you hit the marks at certain times.Dance Masters has better multiplayer, with 2-player co-op on a single console and versus over Xbox live. But Dance Central has a better Single Player and a more mainstream music selection. While Dance Masters is more DDR (J-pop) type songs. There are a few different types of “arrows” you have to hit at the certain times. (Note I only call them arrows to compare them to Dance Dance Revolution).-There is a basic hit the mark type of circle, where there is a circle with a larger circle around it that shrinks. You have to move your hand in that space at the time both circles match up (usually goes with the beat).-There is a hold circle (similar to the hold arrows), where you hold your hand in the circle for a set number of beats.-There is a multi-beat circle (indicated by a number of dots in the smaller circle) which you have to hit the circle multiple times in a row to the beat.-There is a foot marking that you hit with either left or right foot on the ground, also usually to the beat.-There are silhouettes that you have to match the pose of. Which usually aren’t too hard, but there is quite a variety in these. Usually if you are following the on screen dancer.

Dance Masters is a fun dance rhythm game that will keep you entertained. If you like J-Pop style songs full of energy, then you’ll like the song selections with this game. You don’t have to be exact in your dance moves like other dance games. This may sound like a bad thing, but due to this you can better concentrate on simply having fun and it’s much easier for everyone to jump in – making it a ideal party game.

My son bought this game for the Xbox Kinect. It takes a little bit of time getting used to, but is very easy to use once you get the hang of it. It has a wide variety of music and styles. Graphics are really very good and sensor response is pretty good as well. Is a lot of fun and can get quite exhausting if you really keep at it. Love the game and have ordered Zumba also. Can’t wait to see how they compare.

  9. Nobody Important

Welcome to Dance Master. One of two dancing games for the Xbox360 Kinect.Game play consist of following the character on screen similar to Dance Central. However instead of flash cards you have circles, directional lines, and silhouettes that you must follow in order to complete the song, which can be failed unlike Dance Central.Circles are where you place your hand or leg during a song and come in several variety’s.Directional lines are for you to trace with your hand in the direction of the arrow. While silhouettes are similar to the “finishing move” from Dance Central as you have to pose but they can come during any part of the song and can come often.Pros:Side-by-side multiplayer and online multiplayer. All J-pop if you are a fan of J-pop.Cons:All J-pop if you are not a fan of J-pop.

Once you figure out how to play, it’s a fun game, but very challenging. All kinds of things are going on all the time, which makes it sometimes hard to follow the movements. Limited music selection. Great interface and I would recommend to DDR players over Dance Central Players, but both are great.
