  1. Boonies

Plugged in perfect to my original atari. Fully functional just like the old ones. Was great to play the old oink and frogger again! First set was lost in shipping, but 3 minutes on the phone and was rushed a set virtually overnight. Happy dude here!

  2. Lensjocky

Finally a decent Atari Joystick that you will not break on the first night!

Right out of the box this thing showed a number of features I’d always wanted on an Atari joystick. Detachable stick, ambidextrous buttons, sloped edges, heavy base, a non-rubber, non-perishing joystick, and a room-spanning cord length make Hyperkin’s design the last word on the classic atari controller layout. It’s so pleasant to hold, I actually keep finding myself sitting in front of the TV not to play the game, but just to hold the controller, it really is that satisfying to use. I truly hope that Hyperkin will follow the ‘Trooper’ up with a set of paddle controllers just as thoughtfully devised as this magical thing. My only question is the packaging. They box this thing fully constructed. Why did they make the joystick removable, then choose to package it in a large box with the stick screwed into the base? The whole thing could have been shipped in a box smaller than a hardcover book, but instead you think you got a 1-litre carton of milk in the mail. Not really an issue, but it’s oddly frustrating.

Bought this for my light sixer 2600 not expecting very much, but i was pleasantly surprised. I’ve had it about 2 weeks now and it’s Very comfortable in the hands and doesnt feel like im going to crush it while holding it in intense moments. The joystick has nice throw to it but not too much and is very responsive. The joystick has similar feel and build quality to the Flashback 2 joysticks. Overall I’d recommend this joystick to someone but doesn’t want to risk getting a broken original or just wants a joystick more comfortable and less stiff than the originals.

I can confirm these work PERFECTLY for the retro systems that use a 9 pin Atari style joystick and a single fire button, unlike many other options such as the Hyperkin Ranger which DO NOT work on the Commodore 64 etc.High quality stick with a nice feel and construction and well priced.Highly recommended.

  6. Political Researcher

Feels a little looser than I prefer, and the stick can be a bit sqeaky. Otherwise seems pretty quality so far.Have been using it with various atari 2600 games on my PC via a 2600daptor .

So I use this to game with my Atari 800 XL Computer system. For the price this is an excellent value and really breathes life into my retro system by providing nice accurate input that in itself can make or break these older games. the joystick as a 10ft. cord and a nice weighted feel. Also, the corners have an indentation which makes them more comfortable to hold in your hands. The joystick has two fire buttons for ambidextrous use, any Atari system will only recognize them as one button. If you are into retro Atari gaming, this joystick will really breath new life into your older system. Although serious retro gamers will most likely spend much more on professionally restored or modded joysticks, again, for the price this a great product which works with the Retron77 Emulator and real Atari hardware, Atari 2600, Atari 400, 800, 800XL and XE systems.

    Works great with my console

  9. Paul Klintworth

Works very well as a digital joystick for my old Acorn Master Compact micro – very happy with it!

  10. Paul Daniel

Nicely weighted. Excellent feel and accuracy. Worked perfectly on my old Atari 130XE computer.
