I have to be honest I only got this due to the price drop and the avid reviews praising the game. I am so happy I did, the game is made from the ground up exclusively for the 3DS and it shows, the campaign mode is by far one of the best in any fighting game I have ever played. The cut scenes are well done, and the story leads itself at a great pace as well as allowing the player for chances of learning multiple characters throughout the game. The 3D really looks good on this game as well. Multiplayer is very addicting and hard. I never was fan of DOA on console but I have learned a lot on the mechanics of the game with this version, and I have to say I am hooked. DOA is all about counters, counter throws, and hold/stop moves, if one can master this simple moves and the timing needed…your unstoppable, and look badass against the best combo crazy players. I am now a huge fan & cannot wait for the new DOA on the xbox 360. Controls are great as well, the analog stick feels great to use for the combat, and the buttons and response rates are dead on, I haven’t even notice frame rate drops with the 3d on unlike other games. If your looking for a good fighting game for your 3DS go no further. If your big on collecting things…there are tons of things to collect as well. about a 1000 items/ figures, and yes that is not a typo.

I think this is the best 3DS game yet. It has great use of the 3D features, as well as fluid gameplay. If you want a great portable fighting game, get DOA Dimensions.

  4. Stephanie

Was a gift for a family member and they play it all the time. She found the character trophy poses kind of stupid and wishes there were more costumes they could get. Story wise it’s not bad but there are some loose ends to it. Models are little weird, but it is a 3ds game so can’t expect too much out of it. You can also do attacks either through hitting the buttons or using the touch pad which has a bunch of options of attacks.

I will not review the game, as other websites have covered this; I will say it is like having original xbox DOA on a handheld. Nice, and what I was expecting.

Dead or Alive Dimensions is a continuation of a previous series under the name “Dead or Alive.” Currently this is the newest game of the series, and the first one on a Nintendo related system. This game was developed by Team Ninja, and published by Tecmo in 2011.If you’ve played this series before, then you’ll have a rough idea on how this gane is played. The game is strictly a 3D fighting game (some what similar to Soulcaibur, just without the weapon selection.) The character has over twenty characters to chose from, in which most of the characters are from this series (and Ryu from Ninja Gaiden.)The game is played with either a combination of the touch screen, d-pad, circle pad and/or buttons to pull of the moves. There are numerous combos and skills to master within this game, fulling any lovers who enjoy button mashers, or any person set on perfecting their skill on fighting games in general. This game strongly encourages to counter, block, air-combo, and use throwing moves to defeat an opponent. But if you do not like this kind of fighting, this may turn off some fans of fighting games. However, new comers do not be scared. There are useful tutorials found within the game, so no need to try and forget this game. There is multi-player in this game, the only problem is your friend requires a copy of the game as well (oh well.)There is a story involved within the game, mainly around a few of the characters and the Dead or Alive tournament. There are other parts to the story.

It’s D.O.A. and it’s exactly what you’d expect it to be.

Yeah I said it. This game tramples SSF4 3D. And here’s why: 1) The interactive environments. Unlike SSF4 3D, this game has interactive stages. You can move around more freely. 2) This game justs feels more like a fighting game than SSF4 3D. You have holds, more throws, and counters. And finally 3) more costumes. Sounds like nothing, but trust me, it is. SSF4 3D is limited to only 2 costumes per character. This game every character has at least 3 costumes. So if you plan on getting a fighting game, get this one, SSF4 3D is great, but I personally like this game better.

Whether you are a hardcore DOA fan, online junkie, or just looking to add a solid game to your 3DS collection; you won’t be disappointed. The 15-year-old Dead or Alive series is known for its’ beautiful femme fatales and intense 3D fighter gameplay. Now, think Tekken, Soul Calibur or Virtua Fighter. The distinctive mechanic that sets Dead or Alive apart is the ‘Triangle System’.Ever play rock-paper-scissors as a kid? Remember how you used to always read your opponent, into guessing which move he will make next? Well think of DOA as a glorified rock-paper-scissors game. Rather than SSF4’s 6 button layout, DOA uses a 4 button layout, which is surprisingly comfortable the 3DS controls. Strikes (punches and kicks, 1 button each) negates throws (1 button), and throws are negates holds (counters). Simple enough, right? Yes! But don’t let the simplicity fool you. The TS adds an enormous amount of depth and intelligence in high level play, while at the same time be very noob-friendly for casuals. ‘Chronicles’ mode, which I will dive into later, provides the ins and outs of the Triangle System. The touch screen implementation will please both returning fans of the series and newcomers. Fans will feel right at home; the combo system immensely gratifying and flashy as ever. Not only do you have visuals of which buttons to push next, the inputs flash as you press- making it a very reliable(and easy!) training source. If you are a newcomer or just don’t want to invest the time to learn com.
