I got this back during Christmas 2006. The game is very easy to play and lots of fun. You can choose different weapons, hunters, gear, time of day, weather, choice of vehicles or a horse, and location. Very fun game.

I had been waiting with baited breath for this, and I cannot reccomend it highly enough. It has the best outdoor graphics I have seen on a PS2 and the levels are HUGE! no little valleys and then loading here… Just one load and you can explore a huge level hunting for deer, moose, even mountain lions and bears. There are little critters like squirrels and raccoons for target practice. The atention to detail is incredible. Leaves fall from the trees in the fall and the animals kick up dust and splash as they run through water ! The vehicles are very easy to control, actually being useful as opposed to a liability. The weapons are great and replicate the real world weapons very well. The fact that the designers included a split screen two player mode is a first for hunting games and is a worthwhile addition. I have a great time playing with my friends, as we hunt down animals in torney mode. The online is astounding. The other hunters appear exactly as you set them up and instead of the weapons just appearing their hands when you change them, the hunter actually reaches back into his pack and gets out the new weapon. Stalking through the woods for a prize buck and then spotting someone 100yds away sighting in on YOUR buck is a real rush as you try and bag it first. The AI on the animals is great and they are hard to kill! The graphics on the animals are great and the trophy room is presented as a museum style with all of your animals presented in brilliant dioramas ! All in al.

I now own and have played all of the hunting games for the PS2 that have come out thus far, Deer Hunter being my latest buy. When I first started playing this game I was impressed with the clean crisp graphics and the gameplay seemed just okay. Now that I know what Im doing and how all the features work I can clearly say that this is an awesome fun game. You can adjust your difficulty level to however challenging you want the game which is good. The graphics are truely excellent with better and longer zoom range with your riflescope than in other ps2 hunting games. Animals AI is a little off meaning sometimes you can just walk up to an animal and he wont run if he sees you. You can carry plenty of equipment with you unlike other ps2 games and you can also choose from a wide variety of equipment. The sounds of the game are respectable but a little repetitive as if there was a tape playing over and over again of the same animal making noise. As far as the hunting trip itself it is great you can climb well shoot well aim well see well lure well and depending on what difficulty mode your playing in you can have a bullet pointer compass guide you in the direction of the animal nearest you. Season mode allows for objective based hunting from one location to the next, quick hunt, tournament hunt, online hunting. This game has a lot to offer. My recommendation is this game is well worth it especially at its low price of $20 you wont be disappointed once you get the game going. NOW.

Oh my God! I have nearly every hunting game known to man, but this is by far the most cool, heart pounding and totally awesome game. So realistic you just cant help enjoy the cool realistic animals. The guns are so awesome, there are so many, like 17 i think. from bows, to rifles, a 9mm., a crossbow and a muzzelloader, and 3 shotguns. its so cool. getting an animal is a little challenge, but possible. Now, this is made by atari, Remember the 2d pixel games of 1970’s to early 1980’s? well before they were shut down due to going bankrupt and in an attempt to pull out they made a game where you rape and indian woman without getting killed. well, after nintendo took to correcting atari’s mistake, atari made a comeback in creating games for today’s platforms and they know what they’re doing. This game has to be Bought, it is just way better than any cabela’s games. unlike anything i’ve ever played before. I cant tell you everything, i cant describe it, Realistic comes to mind. When you shoot a critter they leave a blood trail. NOT SEEN ON ANY CABELA’S GAMES! HuGe levels, No bag limit, and you can kill as many critters as you want. so awesome.

I’m not sure who reviewed the title as good, but I was very disappointed when I received my copy today. It did not help that the very first thing I did was turn my character to look at the horse, only to have the camera go INTO the horse and look down inside him. :(Anyway, my thoughts:Graphics:On the same level as the original playstation 1, could not believe it was on the ps2. All of the trees look identical, in every region, you can hardly tell the difference between Montana, BC and Wisconsin – I’ve been to all three, and this game doesn’t look like any of them. There’s some kind of dark grey barrier in the distance in every area, although animal shadows show through(?). As well as looking the same, the hunting areas are dull and drab. The hunter’s movement looks terrible (I think this character has some kind of medical condition!). The animals move smoothly but up close their skins look terrible. Animals move through trees and rocks almost constantly, too, which is very odd.Gameplay:Great slow motion lazer effect, it was strange at first but a really nice feature. If you like hunting games, you’ll like the gameplay style – hunt, complete hunting based challenges, use lures, scents, and equipment, as you’d expect. It’s irritating that even in day mode you can’t choose from any of the hunting locations, and there is no objective list, so it’s tough to figure out what the objectives for day hunts are.Audio:Highly repetative, both between seasons and locations, to th.

I bought this along with a couple of other games for my husband’s birthday. He really enjoys this. I had bought him the cabela’s games but he prefers this one because of the online and the more realistic graphics. I have also started playing this, and it’s a lot of fun. The forests are really well done, with birds and squirrels all over the place, waterfalls, lakes etc. The animals are really hard to shoot, and it is overall very challenging.

If you want a fairly realistic hunting game this is it.You can use a bow, shotgun, muzzelloader or several rifes. With or without scopes. Deer blinds, stands, calls, scents, You name it, it’s in here. Many different types of game to hunt, and different woods to hunt in.Unlock new guns, animals and places to hunt. This is a hunting sim. If you like lots of fast paced action this is not for you. If you want to hunt then you should enjoy this game.
