There is nothing more that I love to do than to read a book before I see it in the movies or on TV. For some reason, it the one rule in my life that I actually never break. Let’s face it. It is sort of the age old debate, but instead of the chicken or the egg, we are asking which is better the book or the movie/show. So with this in mind, I started Younger by Pamela Redmond Satran.The premise of the book is simple, 44 year-old Alice has had a difficult year and chooses New Year’s Eve to make a wish to be younger. She has never looked her age, but with her recent weight loss, she is looking pretty good. It is not that she wants to be twenty again, but Alice would like to have the opportunities of a young professional starting out with no judgement or sideways glances from the adolescent HR people. If you think that the job market is difficult for 20 and 30 somethings, you can imagine how difficult it is for a 44 year-old stay at home mom who has limited work experience. With the help of her best friend Maggie, she takes a second look at herself and decides to embrace her friend’s push towards a more youthful appearance. Commence the make-over montage now.As Alice continues her path to becoming younger, she meets Josh, Lindsay, Terri, and a few others here and there. Each adds another layer to her experience, but also to her deception. Will Alice be caught and have to pay a price for the lies that she is weaving? How will everything turn out with her new friend and lover once t.
Omg I really wish you guys had the Spanish version I’ve been dying for my mom to read this on her kindle!! I’ve seen others like b&b sell the paperback Spanish edition but my mom won’t read it unless it’s in her kindle. :( Awesome book.
Loved the TV show, decided to read the book. While the book was good, the TV is better, a little more entertaining, faster paced, and dramatic.

I picked up this book for a couple different reasons.One, I am 44 years old, just like Alice. Two, people usually think I am much younger than I am. Three, I tend to date younger men who have no idea how old I am when they begin the pursuit (who am I to tell, anyway?) and Four, I liked the first few paragraphs and figured, “Why not try out a new author, I haven’t read any novels lately.. so…. Just go for it!”I wasn’t disappointed.Pamela Redmond Satran creates multi-dimensional, interesting characters in situations the reader can both relate to and want to find out more about as well. I was fascinated (in an odd way!) about the Alice’s new best friend, Lindsey… and wondered if young women like her are truly out there? I am guessing yes…I also enjoyed being a part of Alice’s choice making… and the miracles in Maggie’s life, too… and regeneration of the relationship between Alice and her daughter.So yes, there is romance (and unconventional romance, which I appreciate…) there is career, there is friendship, there is parenting… there is art…A thoroughly enjoyable, engaging read – I will read more of Pamela Redmond Satran’s books after discovering this one.
…I’m not finished yet with the book but I’m already through it 2/3.It’s well written and the main idea is very similar. I’d say her lesbian friend is the most accurate if you compare it to the tv series.The young guy seems to be brighter in the book and her bff at work more grown up in the book, or better said planning out her life for the next 10 years when to get married, have a career and kids…That’s my impression so far from the book if I compare it to the series.They didn’t alter huge parts of the book which often happens that they only take the main idea of it but not the actual "scenes".I bought the book itself used here on retrolio. the shipping time was normal and packing was very good. The condition was good, as described.. looked like a library book which is fine with me when I can save some bucks on books.
Loved this cute little book – it’s a wonderful departure from your regular chick lit fare. The language is witty and fun and the characters literally jump off the page. I also loved the fact that this book has both older and younger characters – it was so refreshing to read about real women. If you’re looking for a fun love story to read, give this book a try!

Maggie convinces her that she looks young, but needs to revamp her style, and the two set out working on her wardrobe, makeup, hair, and resume. Suddenly, the old editing career with the same company she first worked for is hiring her. It is entry level, but she is soon making a name for herself.Along with her new, younger lifestyle comes new, younger friends, and a new, younger guy. She begins a romance that is new and exciting. How long can she keep up this charade?I loved this book so much. It was flirty and fun, and a joy to read. I also listened on audio, and the narrator did a wonderful job. The only problem? I was sad to see it end.
Couldn’t put it down! I adore this book, the advice, and sentiments portrayed! This author is extraordinary and I can’t wait to read more by her

It is really interesting to see a 40-something woman masquerading as a 20-some.

This is a really entertaining book. So entertaining, in fact, that I read it in a few hours. I would say that it’s a coming of age novel, in a different way. Even though it didn’t quite end how I thought it would, I was still happy with the many possibilities Alice Green has to offer the world. Go Pamela Satran. Thanks for a great novel.

I discovered Younger on Hulu and new I need to check out the book version along with the book mentions, Marriage Vacation and The Miseducation of Henry Cane.There are many differences from the show but the book doesn’t disappoint. I myself am in the middle age of Alice’s two personas and found it a good quick read. After realizing the book was written over ten years years, and since updated to fit modern times, some things stood out like her cooking with recipe cards, it made her sounds more like 60 and older but hey what I would not give to get back to those simpler times when a recipe was just that and not an entire blog. Overall sweet book and looking forward to the “Older” release this summer. And of course season 7 of the show.

Great chick flick, just sit back and enjoy. No brains necessary. Wonderful casting, each character blends well with the others. On the other side of the spectrum, a half an hour each week is not enough viewing time to substain you for a whole week. All in all, kudos to TV Land on this one. # 2 on my tv must watch list. With Game of Thrones still #1.

This was a refreshingly different story about a woman reinventing herself as a younger person, but also learning to value her past. She finds love in unexpected places, then has to deal with things that weigh love down. It was a journey of self discovery that I did not want to end. I am watching the show based on the book, it is fun.
