Alice Green has had a really bad year. Her husband left her for his much younger dental hygienist, her mother died, and her daughter has dropped out of college and joined the Peace Corps. Despite having the luxury of looking younger than her 44 years, Alice has never really taken advantage of it. Her pal Maggie helps her enhance those looks to start the new year off to a good start. Soon, she catches the eyes of many younger suitors at a New York City bar.Armed with her new appearance, and newly acquired confidence, Alice has changed places with herself, so to speak; she is living the life she lived prior to settling down and getting married. Suddenly, the job she applied for months earlier and was considered too old for is hers for the taking. But now Alice is finding it difficult to live her lie, as she grows ever closer to her new boyfriend Josh, a man young enough to be her son. Josh assumes she is an older woman – he is thinking 29 – he is just now aware of how much older she is. As she and Josh delude themselves into thinking that they are a casual couple, both find that they are falling in love, which causes more pressure on Alice’s over-burdened nerves, and their seemingly insurmountable 19-year age gap.”Younger” works not only because of the great writing style of the author, but also because it does not portray either age as ideal – each has its own ups and downs and troubles and triumphs. It is really interesting to see a 40-something woman masquerading as a 20-some.

I read the book because I lived the story on the show. The show takes a lot of creative license.

Fun book and quick read. Some funny LOL moments. Would love a sequel.

I purchased this book because I love the TV series. The book is good background and has a good plot but the TV series is awesome.
PD-68 –
It’s a masquerade of career and love with emotional challenges in hoping to turn a chapter in one’s life for the better.

This is a really entertaining book. So entertaining, in fact, that I read it in a few hours. I would say that it’s a coming of age novel, in a different way. Even though it didn’t quite end how I thought it would, I was still happy with the many possibilities Alice Green has to offer the world. Go Pamela Satran. Thanks for a great novel.

If you like younger buy the book. It is good. Names are slightly different, but its great.

I discovered Younger on Hulu and new I need to check out the book version along with the book mentions, Marriage Vacation and The Miseducation of Henry Cane. There are many differences from the show but the book doesn’t disappoint. I myself am in the middle age of Alice’s two personas and found it a good quick read. After realizing the book was written over ten years years, and since updated to fit modern times, some things stood out like her cooking with recipe cards, it made her sounds more like 60 and older but hey what I would not give to get back to those simpler times when a recipe was just that and not an entire blog. Overall sweet book and looking forward to the “Older” release this summer. And of course season 7 of the show.

Great chick flick, just sit back and enjoy. No brains necessary. Wonderful casting, each character blends well with the others. On the other side of the spectrum, a half an hour each week is not enough viewing time to substain you for a whole week. All in all, kudos to TV Land on this one. # 2 on my tv must watch list. With Game of Thrones still #1.

This was a refreshingly different story about a woman reinventing herself as a younger person, but also learning to value her past. She finds love in unexpected places, then has to deal with things that weigh love down. It was a journey of self discovery that I did not want to end. I am watching the show based on the book, it is fun.
