Haven’t played all the way through but its just like Professor Layton. The graphics are pretty good for this type of game and I haven’t come across any bugs yet.

I keep hearing people compare this game to Professor Layton. As a self proclaimed “Layton-holic” I can say without a doubt – Lautrec is NOTHING like Professor Layton. I’ve only been playing this for a day, so I will give my review of it – thus far.The only similarities to Professor Layton is that the main character, Doctor Jean-Pierre Lautrec, has an accent; is an archeologist; has an assistant/partner; wears a top hat and an overcoat; and you solve puzzles. He is certainly not the gentleman Professor Layton is. He’s rather arrogant and snarky as a matter of fact. As for game play, I do not find many similarities, other than the dialog layouts. These are most definitely like Professor Layton, or say Phoenix Wright. For me what sticks out is the 3D implements on this game. If you actually use it, it is fantastic. You can tell that Konami spent a great deal of time to include this feature. It definitely is my favorite game thus far that uses the 3D mode.Secondly, the animation cut scenes are more prominent in Lautrec than Professor Layton. They are impeccable, and again, the 3D works well to improve said cut scenes. Overall the artwork is the biggest most admirable feature for me. The colors are fantastic and the line work is super crisp. Backgrounds are phenomenal, lighting is spot on. Great character development overall. Voice acting is used more in this game as well.I do enjoy the free movement of the character in this game. Though this is the one portion of the game where I.

A well-done game with excellent voice-overs, interesting french history explained during the gameplay, lots of fun to discover. Although it is pretty much a Professor Layton rip-off, it is well done. It was worth it to play.

Dr. Lautrec is a puzzle game, but that’s where its similarity to Professor Layton ends. It stands very well on its own. You play as Dr. Lautrec, solving puzzles to unravel the mystery of an underground world beneath Paris.Pros:Mostly spoken dialogueInteresting/funny charactersRelatively straightforward gameplayCons:”Stealth” and block-pushing gets repetitiveToo much information provided in the Data section (the game basically introduces all of the landmarks in Paris)Uncategorized:Easier than Professor LaytonCollect-them-all aspect for treasure huntingI started playing this game because it was the one 3DS game in my collection that I hadn’t picked up and started, but now I can’t put it down. It is definitely a surprise favorite!

if you like Professor Layton you will enjoy this game.. the game is along the same idea solve puzzles to continue the story, so far the puzzles are enjoyable and not unbearably hard and the story line is great. if you like brain teasers then this is one game that should not be over looked

Many people have been comparing this game to Layton and there is a fair comparison to be had due to the games genre and presentation, but this is no Layton game. Whereas Layton games primarily feature puzzle solving Lautrec does puzzles, and much much more.Graphics – What can I say, they are serviceable. The art work is really well done, as are the animated cutscenes, top notch stuff. However, when it comes to the city and the labyrinths/catacombs, more work could have been done. Layton’s models is okay but the townspeople and guards aren’t exactly heavy on polygons. It’s ok though in the sense that you won’t exactly be laying this game for pixel shaders or impressive lighting (which they actually do have a bit of at times).Sound – The Music is well done, and actually very catchy. You have several character and situation themes like most games and then you have grand pieces for events and such. It all works well and really helps to suck you into the world of Dr Lautrec. The real standout here though is the voice work. While not exactly emmy winnig it’s very well done and professional sounding. Though for some reason everyone has english accents, yet they live in Paris, go figure.Gameplay – Like I said before, the game is similar to Layton in that you solve a variety of “puzzles” but the similarities end about there. The biggest differences here are that you actually get to “explore” the city of Paris, interacting with it’s famous landmarks and then exploring it’s underground.

Dr. Lautrec and The Forgotten Knights is very much like the Professor Layton series . Although its similar it deffintely is its own story and has unique gameplay , not only word , number , object and image puzzles , but strategy & map quests as well . It has well known actors who often are on bbc classics as the voice actors . The graphics are amazing and the game will keep you busy for quite a few hours since even when You beat it , You can still play quests over again and each time You do it will be different. Dr . Lautrec doesn’t want fame or fortune , just the thrill of solving puzzles , He often has run – ins will the police , since the Cheif of police doesn’t like treasure hunters & since he ‘s not above breaking into a building to find what he ‘s looking for . His asstiant Sophie rather likes Him and helps him by seeing the spirits in the treasures " treasure animautus " which helps You fight other Spirits and gain the treasure and experience . Each is a different type and some are stronger against certain stronger spirits. This game has lots of RPG elements . So if Your looking for something like Professor Layton yet different and exciting adventures ,Then I Highly reccomend You Get this game . I’m glad I did & it’s now one of My fav 3ds games . It ‘s and awesome game at a great price . It came quickly & I would use these shops again.

This is a great game with many, many hours of fun!! I can’t wait until the 2nd game comes out! Most o the games were easier than Prof. Layton games, but the info on all the places and history was tremendous! I hope they come out with one on the US, too. The next one is to be on Italy, yay! Maybe they will eventually do all the different unique places in the world??!!The only thing I don’t like in this is that after all the game is done, I still have to find areas I missed in order to get the last few puzzles I am missing. There are so many places that I don’t think I will ever find them!! :(
