There have been many comparisons between this game and Professor Layton. Yes, it is not good as Professor Layton, but it has enough to set it apart from it (for better or for worse). The animation, voie acting, and charaters in this ame are very well done, and the story is very good as well, but the game falls flat when it comes to gameplay. With all of the sidequests, the game quikly falls into repetition. Also, the puzzles aren’t very well thought out, and are quite simple, and man of them are very similiar. However, the battles against the Treassure Animatus are very well down, and can be very engaging. It is still an enjoyable game, but it could use a little bit of tuning up.

I will always love Professor Layton. But it appears another Professor in a top hat might just steal my puzzle-loving heart. Dr. Lautrec is the complete opposite to Layton. He is surly, terse, and sarcastic. Not interested in being a perfect gentlemen, his ultimate goal is to solve that elusive mystery. And I LOVE it.Paris, France – Late 1900’s. Underneath the bowels of Paris, there were treasures hidden underground. This brought the rise of the adventurer. Dr. Lautrec will not belittle himself to call himself an adventurer, but he enjoyed the challenge each treasure wrought. With his assistant, Sophie, he searched the labyrinths for the ultimate mystery. However, one day, a man and a woman showed up with a unique puzzle that might change the world for the better or the worse. The puzzles ranged from easy to moderate. When you first start a mission, Milady will give you a map that will lead you to an entrance of an underground labyrinth. The map consisted of a riddle that pertained to a place within Paris. Lautrec and Sophie will pretty much figured the riddle out for themselves and occasionally ask for your input. There are no penalties for being wrong here. When you are in the dungeon, this was where your frustration will mount. One form of puzzle-solving is where you push crates around to form a path. However, there were some places the police patrolled and if they spot you, you have to return to start and any efforts you have made will be reset. Finally, t.

A rich and challenging game that took me 82 hours to complete, you really get your money’s worth. Even though Doctor Lautrec looks like Pro. Layton, they are nothing alike. The games are very different. In Layton, you have a huge variety of puzzles, whereas in this game, there are only about 8 different kinds of mini puzzles some are challenging and some are simple. The charm is that you look for mazes by running around Paris in an accurate map from the 19th century. you can see all the street names, the building of the Eiffel tower, and all the famous landmarks of that city, as you try to solve a puzzle based on French history. This part is mainly just clicking and going where you are directed, sort of like a Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Once you find the maze, you go through it, each new maze is more complex than the last, looking for treasure animatus (living treasure that you defeat in a battle where you must try to use jewels and other treasure to tame the new treasure, without overpowering it and killing it.)The best thing about this game is you can save any time, so I save before I try to solve a puzzle or tame the treasure, or go through a tricky part of the maze, that way if I mess up, I can just try again. In addition to the game play, the characters have a lot going on, everyone has their own motives, and secret crushes, and relationships—except Doctor Lautrec who appears mean and single minded–but every once in a while he lets slip some kindness on someone and.

I really like this game. I know a lot of people compare it to Professor Layton and although there are a lot of similarities, there are some big differences. One is the way you move- you can move freely without having to click on arrows. Also, even though there are puzzles like in Professor Layton, I think the more challenging ones are finding ways to get past the police and knights in the game when you are underground. You have to move boxes, find hidden doors, and move around without being seen to get to the treasures that then advance the game. The doors to the treasures are opened when you solve a puzzle, then the treasure itself must be “tamed” to get it. The taming involves using previously found treasures and jewels you find in chests throughout the underground. I think this game would be better described as a puzzle/adventure as it contains both. There are long cut scenes and a lot of dialogue, but for me I enjoyed that. I liked the characters and their story lines, and found myself wanting to know more about them. The music is good, the story has humor, and the voice acting is great. I also loved the art and animation. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a game with a lot of story and is up for some challenging puzzles and game-play.

Let’s get this out of the way, because it’s blatantly obvious. Yes, Doctor Lautrec is a Professor Layton ripoff plain and simple. I don’t think Konami cared to avoid the comparisons, but since a North American release of the 3DS Layton is still a ways off, I gravitated toward Lautrec for my temporary puzzle fix. In my review I do compare them a lot, as it’s really unavoidable, but I use it as a gauge for how much fans of this type of game might find interest in DLATFK. Okay, so…I was immediately impressed with the presentation of Lautrec. From the (Laytonesque) music, to the anime-styled cutscenes, and even the still art during conversations, this game oozes character. Graphically it’s very nice to look at, and the 3D element is well-implemented although not a necessity, which is the only fault I can find in the visuals department. As of late game developers, especially Nintendo themselves, have been finding intelligent ways of implementing 3D into 3DS games as an element of gameplay itself rather than a gimmick. Lautrec does not. No biggie, but the puzzle aspect could have benefitted in some way from smart 3D. Look at the recently released eShop title Pushmo as an prime example of this.I loved the music, too. Once again you’ll get the feeling you’ve heard these tracks before and that isnt a bad thing assuming you liked the Nintendo series’ tracks. Additionally the majority of conversations throughout the game are voiced, and this is another area that Lautrec excels in. The.
