  1. Cathy Kronyak

this was a gift. my son loves it

  2. Ben Jamin'

I love the Dragon Quest series. Quick warning though. If you played DQ 8 or 9 before playing this then this will seem slow. IMO the games get better as you go on (8 is better than 7, 9 is better than 8 etc.)

  3. William Thompson

Played it before, just got it because it’s portable lol

  4. Emmanuel Paredes

I have always been a fan of the saga of dragon quest, and this is not the exception, excellent story, a rpj with battles in turns that has nothing to envy others, I am very happy with my purchase; the shipment was on time, excellent price and the package arrived in perfect condition.

  5. Lessa

Excellent product and a great transaction!!!

Fragments of the Forgotten Past is an immense RPG that will keep you engaged for upwards of 75 hours. Full of light humor, engaging characters and entertaining quests, this title is a great romp for kids, teens or adults alike. The only reason this does not get a full 5/5 is due to some obnoxious mechanical issues. The game camera has a bizarre way of tracking your party that can be difficult to look at sometimes. There are also minor graphical glitches as time which I feel like should have been ironed out already. The second reason it doesn’t get a perfect score is the fact that the first dungeon was scrapped in this version. The original PlayStation version had a fantastic, immense dungeon to solve at the beginning of the game, and I have very fond memories of working through it. It has been shortened to three rooms and a mini quest that are far too easy to be fun. This should not pose any problems for new players who never played the original however.

I grew up playing Dragon Warrior (now called Dragon Quest) on the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System and it has remained my favorite game franchise of all time. Since I missed the chance to play Dragon Quest 7 when it originally hit the US in 2001 on the original Sony PlayStation, I am very happy to have this excellent re-make on the Nintendo 3DS.Buy this game if you love old-school jRPGs. The graphics are the best that I’ve seen on the 3DS, but Dragon Quest by design keeps things vintage. Fans of the series know and love this, but newcomers might be off-put by the menu system and (intentional) 8-bit sound effects. Also, this game is HUGE, easily clocking in at 100+ hours just for the main story, not including all the extra activities.

  8. David Breutzmann

    Great JRPG.

  9. Marcos

Finally. The best Dragon Warrior/Quest on DS. Only other platform was PS1. Excellent upgrade of this classic – cut scenes are great, good story, classic DQ fare but better than anything on 3DS yet. Not sure why they made IX after VI then made VII and VIII, but so happy to have my collection complete.

I’m a big jrpg fan, and definitely love a great game mechanic. One of my favorite examples of great mechanics in a jrpg is the macros and if this then that in Final Fantasy XIII. This game has a great mechanic. The jobs feature of DQ7 game is such a unique and fun way to level up your character. Unlike xp (which you also get), your job level is raised when you fight battles as that job class. But only enemies that are at your challenge level give you credit to raise your level. You can’t grind for xp and job levels for too long in most of the maps. It’s great pacing for a modern audience.Writing is wonderful. Game does a great job weaving threads of previous stories into your current questing area. Music is lovely.I played through DQ7 on the Playstation two separate times. I lost my save game file after 70 hours of game play. I was much younger and had no kids. But now, as a dad who is 40, I can say that this is a game I can realistically play, making incremental progress at my own pace. They lovingly worked very hard on this game. It is not an entry level game, but it is a great example of why the Dragon Warrior is a much better franchise than the Final Fantasy series. Japan agrees with me.If you find yourself agreeing with Japanese young adults and middle aged men who still game, you will really love this game.
