Nice job all around by Sega. This is a well-designed and well thought out little device with a lot of fun packed inside. I see a few ludicrous reviews on here, where people forgot to take their pills or whatever and resort to saying this device “SUCKS” or is “GARBAGE”. Nothing could be further from the truth, and some people need to grow up.It was actually my cousin who was one of those “Sega kids”, but I still got to play the Genesis some back in the day and have fond memories of Sonic, Road Rash and several other great games. Hardware-wise the original Genesis was somewhat more generic in internal design than the SNES and had some real limitations if you know what to look for. But it was still a fertile platform for fun and classic game play. In bringing this classic mini console to market Sega has seemingly followed Nintendo’s lead in hardware design, having nearly identical internal specs and including power over micro USB, which will presumably be a vector for hacking this thing. That’s a good thing! Then Sega upped the ante and doubled the number of included games compared to Nintendo mini consoles, including alternate international versions of the ROMs that you can access just by changing the language settings. However this probably means there is less internal storage available for any future hacking of the device, but perhaps they will get USB support working.Overall the game selection is pretty good with a small handful of weaker entries and a few glaring o.

Don’t be fooled by the knock off versions of this that have been out for a couple of years. This is the Sega 30th anniversary authentic mini console. Works awesome, obviously there are wired controllers, I fixed this with a 25ft HDMI cable that allows for the console to be near the couch. I use the same cable for other mini consoles. The game selection is really good also. A lot of fun!!!

I am having so much fun with this!! I have only ever owned two video game systems in my 35 years: Atari and Sega. Just hearing the Se-ga when it boots up was awesome and that was before I even started playing. The games are just like I remember! I am totally cool with the three button controller, I never had the six button version so not sure what that would be like. I’ve read other people didn’t like the combat games with only three buttons but I’ve never had an issue before and don’t have one now. And no, it is not wireless. You are gonna have to pull a chair up in front of the TV just like when you were a kid. You could also get the HDMI extender but where is the fun in that?!? Also, this thing is so tiny and CUTE! Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to take a stroll down memory lane, anyone who loves pixels, or anyone who wants to know what their parents used to play in the 90’s. Lol.

As a collector of many classic edition, plug and play, small mini game systems, I can happily say Sega Genesis Mini DOES what others don’t. It rises to the occasion and outshines early attempts by AT Games. In the Mini game system market a number of the small systems have been created over the years and only so many of them can be truthfully called quality products.Where as NES Classic and SNES Classic by Nintendo may have set off the phenomenon a fire and anew to the world Sega has set the bar with a new high quality standard here.In terms of build quality the system looks like an exact replication of the original Sega Genesis from the 1990’s only much smaller! Way to cool! I was shocked to find small details like a cartridge slot which has flaps that actually move. To my surprise the Volume controls while does nothing still works as a moving piece. There is a working Power and Rest buttons and the expansion slot that can be removed where the Sega CD would have gone are all great tiny details that make this product a most have! The 2 included 3 button GamePads look and fill just like I remember and set nostalgia a blaze from a much more simple happier time in life. They quite simply put fill great!I love and adore almost all of the included 42 Digital Video Games that Sega hand picked for this snap shoot view and slice right out of a Gamers life from the 1990’s! I highly recommend the Sega Genesis Mini as the emulation of the games, the sounds, the music, look and fill are al.

This is a wonderful piece of nostalgia! I’ve also tried Nintendo’s mini NES and mini SNES which are perfect, and this mini Genesis from Sega is right there with the build quality, which is fantastic! It’s impossible that they could include everyone’s favorite games but this mini console includes some great titles. Honestly, it’s worth the price just for Mickey’s Castle of Illusion and Sonic 2 imho. I do wish it contained all of the Street’s of Rage games as well as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic and Knuckles.

If you’re a Sega fan, get this. The lineup of games is great. The console itself is extremely small, as described, so it it very easy to put along with your TV and whatever else you have plugged into it. I would recommend buying the 6 button Retro Bit USB controller for some of the games. I have one for my console, and it works great. My box did come a tad bit damaged, but when I put it on a shelf, it isn’t seen.

I’ve been a gamer since 1974 when my parents brought an Odyssey home. Since then I’ve pretty much owned every single major console release. I worked in the industry from 90 to 97 and collaborated with people at Atari and Sega regularly. Why am I telling you this? Because I wanted to give you a point of view of someone who’s been a gamer for over four decades and thinks you would appreciate my viewpoint. The Genesis Mini is a fantastic little piece of hardware. It’s emulation is spot on and even the sound is accurate. I know there are those who would say that some things are off, but like I said I have been playing my original launch Genesis for over two decades and have become used to hearing it’s sound chip. The sound emulation in the mini is excellent, so much so that I really can’t tell the difference. I have to laugh at YouTube millennial reviewers putting the sound chip through audio scrutiny to get clicks, it sounds fine.Graphics performance is on par with my Genesis and I love the little 90s bedroom that has a slight traffic din coming from the Window. The 3 button controller is exactly like my standard Genesis 3 button, but I’m a little confused why they didn’t include the 6 button. I understand that it didn’t launch here with the 6 button, but it would have been nice to have it as the pack in. That being said I have picked up the RetroBit 6 button in both wired and wireless and they work and feel like OEM products, well done Retrobit. The build quality on the.

The included games are pretty good, the build is solid, the cord length is decent (though i reckmend a pair ofbUSB 2.0 10′ extensions). The best part is the system is moddable, you can put any games from n64 down on it, (look for online instructions). The included controllers are needing to be replaced with official sega classic 8 button ones (6 ontop, 2 shoulder). Make sure to get a case thatvis big enough for system and extension cords etc, i regretably bought one that is even snug just with included componenets… picture shouldnshow problem lol.

I just got this yesterday. It came in later than expected because I did pre-order this time ahead of time, so I was expecting to get it on the same day it released. That was the only thing I was disappointed by. Other than that, I love the Sega Genesis Mini and I hope that Sega will eventually release a Sega Saturn Mini or a Sega Dreamcast Mini. This Sega Genesis mini has the same quality as the Super Nintendo mini, it’s also miles better than the Playstation Mini. This Sega Genesis Mini is also a way better option than AtGames Sega Genesis Flashback console because the AtGames version isn’t high quality and the menu navigation sucks. The Sega Genesis Mini, on the other hand, is very high quality and easy to navigate through. So pick one up today.

I felt a little nostalgic and decide to purchase this Genesis Mini. With games pre install I didnt have to worry about keeping the cartridge together and clean. in addition, I purchase a 19 inch tv from retrolio to go along with the game. Im in my 50’s and playing these good old games bring back good memories. Yes the graphic is totally different from todays graphic but What I miss most is the good story line. I miss the good rpg games but now I can enjoy them again.
