The game? Fantastic as always for an Etrian Odyssey game, even if its alot of re-threading on past game assets. Lots of returning classes and a new class or 2. A great myriad of possibilities indeed. My boxed copy arrived rather squished. The game and the included items are intact but the box was beyond help. Please don’t pack boxed items like this in a padded envelope, especially when shipping internationally.

As of writing this review, I have approximately 50 hours of game play on my save file. I’ve tried to write this review with no spoilers, but some may consider a few sentences in here as very minor spoilers.Etrian Odyssey is a turn-based dungeon crawler JRPG; it is well-known to be challenging on the hardest difficulties, and it requires the player to think carefully about party synergy. The puzzles in the dungeons challenge and sometimes force you to think outside the box if you want to get past a section blocked by an enemy that is too strong for you to fight. You will spend a lot of time deciding where to place your hard-earned skill points upon leveling up, as you must prepare for tougher and tougher enemies that attack with synergy and coordination of their own and attempt to probe your party for weak points. This game, like all the games in the series, requires the user to draw your own maps, which gives it a charm that makes you really feel like an explorer heading into new, unexplored territory. If you are new to the series this is a great place to start. The game does not require any knowledge of what happened in previous entries in the series. That said, if you have played the other games in the series: there’s no reason not to buy this! As the name implies, it brings together many of the elements of previous entries in the series, largely keeping the things that fans have loved and discarding some of the things fans have not liked as much. Personally, so far this is.

Good game! Not for kids, lots of talking and dialogue.I recommend you use the new hero class as it does just about everything. Don’t get Zodiac, it doesn’t scale well and the MP drain will leave you having to heal every 4-5 fights.Landshark, Gunner are also very good for DPS.Anywho, nothing new, same old and more adventures. Classes can sub-class into other classes around lvl 45.Apparently to get vampire subclass, you have to play 100 hours or get it from someone else.Have fun!

  6. DUD

It’s a amazing game and a good send off for the game’s series on the ds/3ds.

  7. NaomieSchiller

Si te gusta los dungeon crawlers y personalización, el ultimo juego de la saga para 3ds merece tu dinero.

  8. Leo

Just as brutal as ever, and probably packed with so much nostalgic content that it’ll keep me going until PQ2’s Western release! Even better is that previous experience with the series is not required at all to enjoy the game. There are very few games that instill wonder and dread like Etrian Odyssey can. There’s never a contrived world-ending plot; it’s just 5 nameless adventurers exploring the wilderness because it’s fun, with beautiful dungeon music and adrenaline-pumping battle themes to back it up.

  9. Destinee

End of an era:I have been playing this series since eo1 on the DS and boy does this hit home for me. The art changes. The characters. Everything feels fresh and new and I am saddened this is the last game on the 3ds. But I look forward to the switch releases in the future

  10. Everybody

A fitting swan song for the 3ds. As a series veteran though, i wish they kept the airship from EOiv and the cooking elements from the untold series.
