Perfect game for whole family!
Really cute game but putting out the pieces takes almost as long as playing! And the pieces are pretty small, so my toddler is constantly disrupting the set up. A car airs frame or something for the pieces would make a big difference
My friends and I call it chess with a twist! It is not hard to learn the game and while it is a very simple game, it gets the competition going among the players. It was fun trying to have your own strategy and try to think ahead of other people’s moves. The only thing would be that the tiles did not seem to line up when we followed the directions to set the game up. Other than that, it is a very fun play!
Wonderful game that induces violent cussing almost immediately as people steal your coveted positions and fish. You’ll feel sheer joy as you block your opponents on isolated floes and see their hopes and dreams crsuhed.Great for kids too.
Awesome, fun, cuthroat little game.Get it. Such an easy game to learn but has so much value in playing many games. Would pick this over a few others.
Really fun, simple game, even a 4 year old can play it. The only drawback is there are a ton of little tiles.
Bought this for my wife (who loves board games) as a stocking stuffer last Christmas. We brought it with us as we made the rounds visiting family, and even relatives who usually don’t like board games joined in for a round or two and had fun. Strategy is easy to understand, but surprisingly deep for a ‘little’ game.
Hey That’s My Fish is without question the easiest game I own. That being said, it is still quite fun and has a surprising depth of strategy. In the game players will take control of a group of penguins. The number of penguins each player get changes based on the number of players (4 for a 2 player, 3 for a 3 player, 2 for a 4 player). The penguins will be placed on hexagonal tiles that have 1-3 fishes. On your turn you will move a penguin in a straight line any direction as far as you want, with the caveat being you cannot jump over other penguins or empty spaces. Whatever space you were on initially you will pick up and add to your collection. That’s all it is. Its a tactical game where you’re trying to figure out ways to get the most fish while limiting your opponents. it allows for some clever maneuvering with very minimal rules. Children as young as 5 could probably grasp the idea, possibly younger, while adults will find enough strategy here to be entertained.
First off, do not let the fact that this is a travel sized game deter you. After having played numerous games, the size of the tiles and penquin models are ideal. Much bigger and you would have to have a larger playing area to play. I love how small it is for storage or transport, but it is plenty big enough to play. The game mechanics themselves are very simple and easy to learn. It is playable by children (it was a Christmas present for my 4-year-old, and she adores it) but there is enough strategy to make it fun for adults. The games are fast-paced. I can’t see one playing longer than 15 minutes, with no real down time. Also, the tiles amd models are all sturdy and of the excellent quality we have come to expect from Fantasy Flight.Thematically, this is a refershing change from all the wargames and dungeon crawls. It is a family friendly contest between penquins to grab the most fish on a very rapidly shrinking ice flow.Overall, this is a great game and a great value.
This is NOT the full-sized version, but instead the “travel” sized version of a game originally produced by Mayfair games. The original, uses full sized (Catan sized) tiles, and these tiles are less than an inch wide. How does it stack up?Durability- This goes to the Fantasy Flight games version hands down. In this production the tiles are very thick (albeit small) and printed with vinyl finish. The Mayfair version is printed on the same kind of tiles as Catan, which do not impress me to be honest. They are not as thick as these, and the ink on paper finish is no durable at all.Quality of Bits- Once again, this goes to Fantasy Flight. The print is on vinyl finish, and the tiles are HEAVY. they are thicker than the full sized game by far. The Penguins however, leave something to be desired. In the Mayfair version, the penguins are hand painted and finished to look like penguins, wearing different colored accessories to signify what team they are on. In this version, the penguins are simply solid colored and stuck in entertaining poses. They get the job done, but are not as pretty as the Mayfair ones. I imagine this is done to keep this version easy on your wallet, and do to the fact that they are small. The quality is where it counts so I supposed we should forgive FF this one.Gameplay – same as the original… A strategic and clever mix of moving penguins to take as many fish as possible while leaving your opponents buried alive by their mistakes. At my house, there are NO fr.
