While Fifth Element has always been one of my favorite movies of all time, this high resolution remaster along with more bonus content than any previous version rocked my world. It has magnificent presentation and takes you deeper than just the movie. The only downside is the packaging… It is less than worthless and started coming apart the very first time it was opened, even with great care. Since I don’t store my discs in the original cases, that isn’t an issue for me but might be for others.

The digital copy still does work, while ultraviolet as a service no longer is around, Vudu has been kind enough to take over what Ultraviolet left behind and most of their codes will work on Vudu as long as they haven’t been used. Even though the code expired last year, as of 10/23/19 the code I received with my disc worked on Vudu.

Set in the distant future, a cab driver named Korben Dallas ( Bruce Willis) has a tough life until one day he meets a unusual fare that fell into his cab. It’s a lovely alien beauty named “Leeloo” ( Milla Jovovich) whom was really a secret experiement as she is known as the ultimate weapon against evil, she with Korben Dallas must save the world from a destructive force as there must be five important elements to destroy it, along his way he meets a cast of colorful characters such as Ruby Rod ( Chris Tucker), Cornelius ( Ian Holm) and the dastardly Zorg ( Gary Oldman). From Luc Besson ( director of “Leon The Professional” and ” Le Femme Nikita) comes a totally dazzling, colorful and wonderful Sci-fi fantasy comedy adventure epic which is now a cult favorite among Sci-fi fans. Luc Besson has always dreamed of doing this movie since he was a teen, it finally came true as this movie is a stunning flick with great performances, a witty sense of humor, non-stop action, impressive visual effects, cool aliens, and this movie is totally one of my all time favorite movies. The new 2-Disc Ultimate Edition is a big time improvement over the previous bareboned DVDs in both regular and Superbit forms, but this one has nice extras. It’s got a handful of featurettes such as how they designed the movie, a scene that never made it into the final cut, optional full length trivia track, and it has Superbit digital picture with perfect sound quality. This is a must see and must have for Sci-fi DVD.

Pretty standard fare for its genre and era of filmmaking, but the cast was amazing and it brings back so many good memories of my youth. It’s got enough color and slapstick humor to keep children entertained while also harboring those subtle (and not so subtle) innuendos that keep the adults happy. The details in the environments and sets still give me a few things to look over even now.If you’ve never seen it, you should rent or watch on a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu if it’s available. If you like it, buy it. It’s the purchase of movies that tells movie producers what to make more of. You can have a blockbuster weekend in theaters because of hype, but few sales because of a bad movie, so it’s really the sales that guide projections.

I love this movie. It came out when I was 5 (I’m 21 now), but didn’t see it until a few years later. I always saw my dad watching it or caught it on TV, and finally bought it, and very glad I did. It’s a Bruce Willis movie, that’s for sure! He is great in this movie, as well as Milla Jovovich, and especially Chris Tucker (who isn’t listed like the other famous actors on the front cover) but he definitely makes this movie the great movie it is. I love the 2nd disc with all the extras like the artwork, story, cast, special effects, costumes, especially the part about the blue, opera singing alien, Diva Plavalaguna. I can watch this movie over and over and never get bored. The BEST original Sci-Fi, futuristic movie. Beautiful scenery and art work and detail to everything in this movie.

When I first checked out DVD players this was playing on the widescreen rear projecton Tv on the Panasonic DVD I wound up buying. Have always been impressed by this movie, the plot, and the wsy it looks. So I had to get the 4k, and it does not disappoint. Bruce Willis still has hair so its been around for awhile, but is not dated a bit, still looks amazing, still a lot of fun, and in 4k…wow. Reccomended.

I already had the special edition with a lot of features this Blu-ray Steelbook had nothing just straight movie. Never the less this is a must buy. and the art work on the cover looks great in my collection of Steelbooks movies.

I’m a bad movie review writer, but I’m compelled to give it 5 stars and rave about how wonderful it is just to spite all the dumb, famous critics who snootily panned it [“It’s not a bad movie, it’s just not a good movie”]. arggh. This is one of the most beautiful, spell-binding, charming, funny, absorbing, lyrical, sci-fi action, buttered popcorn movies you will ever see. So see it. There are brief scenes–the mugger, for instance–that are worth the price of your theatre ticket. But I gotta stop.

Sony’s Cinema Series release, the third Blu ray release of the film, is nothing short of spectacular. The colors are bight and punchy, without over saturation, as would be expected of a film with such a wide color palette. The black levels are spot-on, giving the image fantastic depth. The audio track also has gotten a nice boost with an Atmos mix. I don’t not have an Atmos set up (5.1 speakers are enough for my room, not ready to put two more in the ceiling!) This is clearly a complete remix. Audio is much more punchy and lively.. mimicking the theater experience. While the book packaging is slick and looks very nice, I agree with some of the other reviews that is seems flimsy, much more so than Digibook packaging. I had no issues with lose pages or or anything being upside down.I recently picked up an older release of this in a bargain bin for next to nothing. _The Fifth Element_ on DVD was one of my primary demonstration films for my home theater, so, I was more than eager to see how it looked on Blu ray. I was underwhelmed. Colors were muted, blacks were gray, and detail was lacking. Honestly looked like they just upsampled the DVD release. After going on line to see if others had like experiences, I discovered the Cinema Series release. As a sucker for Digibooks, I picked up Cinema Series packaging.Once popped in, the difference was immediate. Colors were natural, especially flesh tones, no longer looking pale and sickly. My favorite scene, where LeeLoo sees.

If you are into Bruce Willis, Sci-Fi, good laughs and a story that will keep on the edge of your seat! This movie is for you!Or maybe you’re like me and have always loved The Fifth Element? It has been a go to movie for me and with the addition of Dolby Atmos and 4K color I can’t wait to experience a long time favorite of mine in a way that only high end movie theaters can provide but now I get it right from the comfort of my couch!Additionally this is a beautiful collections edition, with very high quality images and printing techniques used throughout the booklet.
