You know…there IS something cathartic about beating the stew out of someone. One of the great things about this game is there’s no threat of a civil suit!EA Sports continues to dominate the sports sim genre with this entry. I’ll confess I’m an "old" gamer (started with Pong and grew up on Defender & Asteroids–though Dig Dug was my masterpiece), but I really enjoyed the entirely new concept of joystick-only controls. I find it far more intuitive and is better than being out-mashed (as in "button mashing") by my son who’s memorized the triangle/circle/triangle…etc. secret code.My son & I get a great laugh out of beating one another without actually resorting to physical blows. We can talk thru an issue, taunt one another, knock each other out, and get up with nary a scratch or bruise. Some of you out there may not consider the Sweet Science to be father-and-son fodder…so don’t buy it.Highly recommended. While I agree with some other reviewers regarding the paucity of Big Name boxers, EA probably saved us each $5 by not having to pay hefty endorsement fees. If you don’t like that Hector is missing, you can always make him yourself with 100’s across the board.Definitely a knockout!

For All You boxing Fans, this is a decent game for the Boxing standards. Forget the Soundtrack and the Hip Hop, if you do not like the Hip Hop then turn down the Music. The game has a flow unlike the others in the pass….The grapics are very realistic and draw you in…..the Different levels could improve a little but all in all it is a good Game.By the way Hip Hop is mostly Bought by Kids who do not live in the Ghetto…Don’t hate the music/soundtrack hate the game.

I own nearly every EA sports game…this is the WORST video game I have ever played…I hate it…I played it 10 minutes.I’ll even sell it for $10, email me.

Great controls! Graphics are sub par but the overall fun factor evens everything out. Analog stick mashers need not apply the computer will work you!.. But if you master the bob and weave you can unleash combos after combos. EA don’t sit on your laurels though, this game is a little shallow fighter wise.

This is by far the best boxing game on the market. The new analog fighting controls are good, but if you want to change them you can. The game is missing a bundle of good fighters though. I am pleasantly surprised it includes Winky Wright, but it does not have Oscar, or Mike, or George. I love the fact that you can choose who you want to fight (in the career mode). Every fight has a different payday. With the money you earn you can buy new gear such as: trunks, shoes, fireworks, gloves, and many more. You can even buy a girl to dance as you make you way to the ring (NOTE: MANY OF THE ITEMS YOU MUST FIRST UNLOCK). This game has a lot, but they surely could add a lot more if there is a FIGHT NIGHT 2005. I would like to see more things you can buy……like robes, and body guards that escort you to the ring; maybe let you get escorted to the ring in a convertable or something really ridiculous like a carraige. Once you are in the ring you have to box. Notice I said BOX. You can not just jump into everyfight and expect to knock everyone out in the first round. That is what makes this game so fun. Counter punching, the defensive aspect, the blocking and weaving. The graphics are solid, the controls are solid. And the game is realistic "for the most part". The most unrealistic part is the commentating. I would like to see a better cast put together next year than the solo commentating of Tiger. The commentating set backs are quickly forgotten though once you are in the rin.

I feel EA answered the call, after so many complaints were voiced, by making "Fight Night 2004."Promos for new games can always look appealing, but what really intrigued me is that Roy Jones, Jr., attached his name to this, and he’s not someone who does anything halfway. For the gamer to truly enjoy this boxing game, you must step outside of your comfort zone. The controls are different and they take getting used to, yet the practice pays off.I like the fact that you have total control of the fighter, especially when you can stand in front of the opponent and bob and weave, and counter punch. You can also defend yourself by blocking punches, unlike "Victorious Boxers," which is another boxing game where you need to use some skills.Yes, there are some big name fighters missing from the list, yet the gameplay and the extra features make up for that. Plus, seeing the not-so-familiar names adds some mystery to the mix.I’m having fun in Career Mode, spending my loot on fancy gear and dressing up the ring girl — I know it’s animation, but whoaaa! Who was the model they used for figure?!Like some other reviewers mentioned, there’s no excuse for not having a clinch option, and I think it’s way too complicated to get up from a knock down manually … even in Easy mode. All in all, this is a great game that will hold your interest. I think it’s well worth the $50, and is definitely the best boxing game I’ve played. Go for it and enjoy. But remember, you will n.
