  1. Quintin Valiente

The Final Fantasy series has always been a long favorite of those in the JRPG genre and the second entry in the series, Final Fantasy II, is no exception. The PlayStation Portable remake of the series classic definitely shows the quality of work that went into making this version of the game the best to date. Without spoiling any of the storyline, the updated artwork and character sprites are beautifully done. For a game that has a couple of years under it’s belt, the artwork gives a heartwarming view at how amazing 2D animations can look like now. For those that play JRPG’s for the storyline will find that you will pick this game up, put it down and walk away out of frustration in a certain scene but you will never let the game go unfinished for how captivating it’s script is. Final Fantasy veterans know exactly what I’m talking about. For those who love video game music, this game will sell you on that alone. To say that i could listen to the music in the game and never play a moment of it and still consider my purchase a justified one is a bold statement but one i stick by.There are some drawbacks of course, players will find the game play to be a bit enduring to say the least. The customization was a bit unbalanced and the combat will become quite repetitious and bothersome in critical moments of the game. While it is easy to say something negative about the game play, some gamers will praise it for doing something unique and different and the end result is indeed an inte.

I’ve been really enjoying this remake and unlike most games I feel like the pro’s for outweigh the con’s. For those of you new to FF2 the game starts out with the Empire basically rampaging all over the world and destroying your home town, your party of four escapes the carnage to immediately die… Now the real game begins; I enjoyed the combat system for the most part. The whole concept of you reap what you sow, if you use swords your swords will lvl if you use magic you gain mp if you take damage your hp grows. The issues with this however is there is no solid lvling system and at times I would have to tactically attack my own party to increase their skills. My only other gripe was the forth party member, reason being its very unconsistent, you have several forth party members come and go, so first time through can be slightly annoying if you spend time and effort upgrading their skills and gear for them to merely leave an hour or two later. In comparison to the original NES game the graphics are amazing. I got several hours of enjoyment out of this game is hope you enjoy it as well.

Classic final fantasy game. More drama in the storyline than later final fantasies which makes it challenging and frustrating at the same time. Gameplay is typical Square Enix. Graphics were good on the PSP, especially for the age of the game.

  4. J. P. Hearn

A classic fantasy RPG, one of the defining games of the genre, this release has been well tweaked for the PSP and is definitely worth getting for any fan. Worth noting that a lot of the early Final Fantasy games have now been ported to a wide range of consoles and devices, so check around to find your most convenient platform!

This is the remake of the second installment of the Final Fantasy series for the Famicom. It was not released in occident in its time, so maybe you missed it. It has nice enhanced graphics and entertaining gameplay and history. Overall, it is a nice classic RPG.

I’ve had this game sitting around in my house for a while. It was one of the first few PSP games I picked up. I work in a pretty boring call center and although it’s slow, it’s not slow enough to finish the books I’m reading, so I decided to bring the ol’ PSP along for a ride one day, and just picked this game up to start. I never thought I’d be finishing it, since I really don’t like too many JRPG games. To my surprise, this game has held my interest long over the two days of work, and now I’m playing it at home on my day off.The game is a classic story of evil forces invading a land to take it over (or destroy). You have four characters, all who are beaten down right at the beginning. On your adventure, you have to find your missing crew member, fight off air pirates, and soldiers. It’s pretty typical of an JRPG from the SNES days, but trust me, if you’re going on vacation and want something to keep your interest, this game is it. I’d write more, but that’s it. It’s less than , so just buy it.

For it’s time at least. Now a days not so much. But the game is easier than it was back on the nintendo days. The leveling system is pretty cool, if not a small pain in the ass. The first true story driven final fantasy, with some great visuals and some well done cinematics. It’s worth playing for simply reliving the days when the series just started out. You have some bonus dungeons and the graphics are better than they were for the psone remake. Definitely worth the cheap price, but would have been better if the first one was included with it, like with the psone remakes.
