Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core for the PSP is one of the best games that you can play on the console. Even if you don’t entirely know what Final Fantasy is, this is a great starting spot. I truly had a blast with the game as it tells a long and amazing story with an awesome soundtrack to play to. Sure the graphics may or may not be top of the line all the time, its still a fun experience especially if your new to the series.
(While pasted from GameFAQs, I did write the original review there.)GRAPHICS:Nearly flawless. I would have said these were perfect a few months ago, but after playing MGS: Peace Walker, my horizons were slightly expanded. Still incredible, though. The menu layout is nice and fancy, while maintaining a certain simplicity to it, as well as stylistic similarities to the original Final Fantasy VII. The faces are pretty good too, although, the certain animations some characters have are overused. The main character Zack has a few that are done way too often. For instance, when he’s upset, he has this exaggerated animation in which he hangs his head, and when he’s surprised, he has this (also exaggerated) flinching animation. Plus, the different qualities of cutscenes had my head spinning in circles for a very long time. The lowest quality have only preset animations and text with no voices. The next highest on the list has voice acting, but still the same low quality animations. The next highest up from that has graphics that are the same as the others, only rendered differently so the edges on any given shape look a little smoother, while the highest quality graphics are completely from scratch and look incredible (though there are very few of them throughout the game). However, even the ‘worst’ graphics still look great, and the animations likewise. Although, like other Final Fantasy releases, some enemies are just recolored versions of others, or worse, differentiated only by s.
The Good: Insane production values, real-time random battles are better, materia system is good, the DMW is odd but worksThe Bad: Pretty short for FF standards, lame side missions, combat is too simpleIf you’ve been holding out on a PSP (I don’t know why you have), but here is another reason to buy one. CC offers and original game experience and, well, here’s how. First off, people who HATE turned based RPGs can relax. We get a whole new real-time combat engine and no it’s not like FF12’s. When you engage in combat you can select attack, your materia (more on that later), and your items with the L or R buttons. You attack with X (combat is VERY simple and pretty easy). Now for the new original hate-it-or-like-it idea: The DMW. It looks like a slot machine up in the corner and this is how you choose your power attacks (overdrives), level up, and your Aeon. This is also random so it mixes up gameplay, yet for micro-managing freaks they will hate this. Each character’s face is on the wheel and as you meet them they are unlocked. Each character has a special move either offensive or defensive and they are pretty neat. You also have numbers as well and for example if you get three 7’s you level up. If you get two of the same number you level up your materia. Another thing, you don’t have magic and all that anymore.Materia are things like Fire, Thunder, Vital Slash, and even Graviga. You also have AP now which is for materia like Vital Slash, Jump Attack etc. You can also fuse mate.
As advertised! Great condition! Thank you!
Ok so I do not have a PSP and have not played any of the FFI -FFXIII series. I originally found a music video on youtube called “Be somebody” by thousand foot crutch which ultimately led me to seeking out this game.I have to admit I was a little nervous about buying a game for a system I don’t even have (borrowing a PSP 2000 from a friend), but after I got about 1 hour into the story my concerns ceased to be relevant. I am pretty sure I’m not terribly good at the game, but I find it tremendously fun. In fact I have enjoyed it so much I am considering buying a PSP just so I can play this game again at my leisure after I finish it.One warning, the story is beautiful but very sad. Growing attached to characters may be a bit depressing (trust me on that) but the overall saga is just too impressive to ignore. All in all this is likely to become one my favorite video game stories I have ever played through. Stop reading this and go buy it!
Weird because of the spinning DWM. Instead of gaining experience the usual way, this gauge spins and you gain SP which can be used in various ways. The DWM also levels your materia, it also provides special attacks, summons, limit breaks, and more. My beef with it is that it has a more ‘random’ approach that I do not like. Despite being an action RPG, I like having some control over things. You do get to set up your main attacks, which is nice, but you really can’t initiate your special moves. I can’t tell you how many times I got fed up with watching the animation for Octoslash when the enemy was one normal hit away from death…That was my big negative. The rest is positive. Except that I am not overly enthusiastic about some of the story elements. There is a lot of melodrama. It’s like watching a soap opera when Angeal, Genesis, Zack, and Sephiroth are all in a scene together (or when at least two of them are in a scene together). But the overall story is complex and well played out. I especially enjoyed seeing some of the characters that appear in FF7 making brief (or more important) appearances. Some of the characters are rather one dimensional, mostly those that don’t appear in FF7. If you have played 7, then you kind of know what is in store. You really know who is going to make it into the next game and who is going to ‘ahem’ kick off. But knowing that, I still enjoyed the game. There were some poignant moments, like where Zack fell into the church in th.
I decided that before I play the classic Final Fantasy VII, I should play Crisis Core to get into the story. I must say this is a phenomenal game, especially to anyone new to Final Fantasy VII! In the story you will play as Zack as he has to contend with the questionable actions of Shinra and SOLDIER. Along the journey you’ll meet Zack’s mentor, Angeal. You’ll see how his legacy is eventually carried onto Cloud. Meet Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth, Genesis, and Cloud who’s the main hero of the classic Final Fantasy VII! In addition to playing through the main story, there are an additional 300 missions that can be completed after beating the game. The missions are a treat to complete, if you like to get 100% collection of items in games. I have one gripe about the story writing for Zack in the end, but I shouldn’t spoil anything for newcomers. As you journey through the main story you’ll meet and see the back story of many characters that are from the classic Final Fantasy VII plus featured in other Final Fantasy VII related games. Now I have to go play Final Fantasy VII to see where this all goes!
Probably the only final fantasy 7 game that I hadn’t played. I really like the origin story of Zack He’s one of my favorite characters and I was really happy when he got his own game. it’s really cool to see where cloud got his memories from and the story behind all of it, the story behind sephiroth, angel. And the bad guy Genesis is an awesome villain.
Arrived with both the case and game undamaged, works perfectly on my PSP. Fun add on story to FF7 with a bit samey but highly customizable combat. Zack is a really fun character, which helps the story. If you’re willing to play older feeling games, then this should be no problem. I do recommend if your an FF7 fan.
Honestly, if you’re already on the fence about buying this game then I think you should just get it, because the people who hate these things can usually tell by reading a summary of it alone. This game’s engrossing personal involvement, unique blend of role-playing and action, and thoughtfully poignant storyline is an ineffably appreciated breath of fresh air from the millions of FPS about being a freaking US marine that seem to be infesting the gaming market. It’s nice to see original games like this still being made; in my opinion RPGs are the only meaningful video-games one can dedicate time their to. Fans of FFVII will be in for a cherished treat with this one, and so will anyone else who is interested in a good storyline coupled with bountiful action and excitement. You can pour countless hours into this game (actually it counts them for you) and still not unlock and/or discover everything for many months, or you can power through it in a matter of days just to say you beat it. Either way, Crisis Core has a pace and content level for everyone from novice to veteran. This game has made it onto every top 10 PSP list since it came out for a reason- and I invite you to find out what that is.
