This is perhaps the greatest game on the Atari 2600. It had a good gameplay, pretty challenging and very good graphics for Atari 2600 standards. This game pushed the CPU and GPU limits of the Atari 2600 and what you get is a true masterpiece. This is not only perhaps the greatest Atari 2600 game, it’s also one of the greatest third party video games of all time. Made by Activision, this game made Atari jealous that they didn’t own the rights to this game. Pitfall is a great classic and shouldn’t be missed by any retro gamer.

In this game u go through a jungle and try to avoid the animals and logs and other objects that come at u. Each stage is on the tv sceen and each time that u complete a stage a new one comes on the tv. U swim, swing on vines, jump, climb up latters, and many more things. It is more fun than most 2600 games. The graphics and color is amazingly good for the 2600 and the sound and music is catchy. It is an awsome game.

One of the first platformers and one of the best during it’s time. Activision was writing some stellar games for the Atari 2600, and Pitfall rates right up there with Space Invaders, Asteroids, Berzerk, and Missile Command as a “must own” for any Atari 2600 collector and/or player! First of all, the graphics were great, crisp, and clean. No background music, but plenty of sound effects to occupy your time as you ran, jumped, and collected through the jungle. Challenging as well, with many obstacles to jump over or avoid. Timing was another factor, to get over the pits that would appear beneath your feet. You had 20 minutes to collect as much “treasure” as you could. Any time you hit a rolling log, points would be deducted from your score. And the only way to score was to collect the bounty littered on the jungle floor. This game was mesmerizing and addictive. I spent countless hours playing it, and can say I own this in my current Atari 2600 collection, one loose for playing, one complete in it’s box with the original instructions.I recommend this highly to all those that own an Atari 2600, and even those that are thinking about getting the old console, get this game for it. It’s cheap and easy to pick up these days, so you should be able to find a copy with no problem. A great adventure with Pitfall Harry. You won’t be disappointed!

This game makes you feel like Crocodile Dundee, Steve Irwin, and Indiana Jones all at the same time!
