Super Mario Advance for the GBA is an excellent port of the NES classic Super Mario Brothers 2 game. In Super Mario Advance, gamers get to choose from four characters: Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Toad. Each of the characters has their own special strengths and weaknesses. Players get to battle it out through 7 levels and 20 screens in an attempt to get rid of Wart at the end of the game. What makes this game shine are the additions that Nintendo has added to the game. Five special coins have been added to each of the levels that players have to find in order to get a red star for that level. Once all the coins are collected a new challenge of finding two yoshi eggs on each level becomes an option and only then can a player ultimately master the game. Another added feature to this cartridge is a second game, the original Mario Brothers for the Arcade. This is really an added bonus where a single player for up to 4 people can hack it out on the arcade style classic. The added features to each level and the ability to play this game with up to 3 friends is what makes this game a must have in everyone’s GBA library.

Not long ago I got to take Super Mario Advance on a test run. (they had it hooked up at …) And let me say it is great!! You may be saying to yourself "I wish they would have taken better advantage of the 32 bit graphics available on game boy advance instead of copying Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 2". But several things have been added to enchance the game.First of all there is a 4 player mode based on Mario Bros which you can play with just 1 game pak.Plus Mario, Luigi, Toad and peach talk at certain points in the game. This game takes advantage of the systems L trigger to shift your view from normal to over your head to under your feet. The method for beating enemies varies by which game you play.In Mario Bros you jump on the platform over your head as an enemy walks on it to flip him then go up and sock it to him.In Super Mario Bros 2 you jump on the enemies head and pick them up and throw them into another enemy or throw veggies (yes veggies) at them. To beat the bosses however you normally pick up the eggs (or whatever else they throw at you) and throw them back.GET THIS GAME!!

do you like pulling weeds out of the ground while throwing them at enemies trying to *spoilers* escape from a dream of Mario by *spoilers* throwing vegetables at a giant frog named Wart, than this game is the game for you.

This game is a very good game for the GBA. this game is very easy to learn and has a lot of screts for replay value. The graphics are colorful, the sound is cool (Nintendo should have added more tracks to it though -.-) and has great gameplay. This is a great pick up and play game, so if you’re looking for something fun and not to easy, pick this one up.

Super Mario Advance is a fun, yet challenging game. It took all the charm from the original, and made it look and sound 10x better. Although most of the art and assets are ripped straight from Super Mario: All Stars, I still think this a competent recreation of a classic game, that I love to this day. While this isn’t my favorite game in the Mario series, it’s still a welcome addition to my GBA collection!Super Mario Advance adds features that weren’t in the NES, or All Stars versions of Mario 2, at the end of the game, you can go back through any level and find all the ace-coins you missed along the way. Finding all the ace-coins in a level grants you a 1-up. Next is the Yoshi egg challenge, where you have to run around the levels to find 2 hidden Yoshi eggs. Gotta say, some of them are hard to find. But its certainly a welcome change from the Original.Overall, I recommend this game to anyone who wants to either get into Mario, or just wants another game for their GBA, I’d recommend getting this game instead of the Original or Super Nintendo versions, because this game has a save feature and unlimited continues, so no matter if you get a game over, it just starts you up at the beginning of the level. So for those who want a more fun and laid back experience, you can buy the GBA cartridge, or alternatively, if you don’t own a GBA, you can purchase this game off the Wii U Virtual Console for about 8 bucks. Thanks for reading!

Mario’s first appearance on the GBA came with the first Super Mario Advance game, which is an updated port of Super Mario Bros. 2 for the original Nintendo console. For those that don’t know, Super Mario Bros. 2 was a departure from the classic, standard setting original game, as Mario now pulled radishes out of the ground to hurl at enemies among other changes (the reason behind these is because the original Super Mario Bros. 2 was deemed too difficult when originally developed, so another in-development game got a Mario facelift and was released as Super Mario 2 here in the states, while the other Mario sequel would see somewhat of a release as Super Mario All-Stars on the Lost Levels segment), but despite it all, the game still offered some solid platforming action and fun. Choosing to play as Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Princess Peach; you hurl radishes and other items at enemies, look for secrets, and more besides. The game is pretty simple to get into, and the graphics and sound have been updated for the GBA, but there are some flaws. The controls aren’t as tight as we’ve seen on Mario games before and after this, and there are moments where the game really doesn’t feel like a Mario game (and it’s really not, for reasons mentioned above), but despite it’s flaws, the first Super Mario Advance is a fun diversion, even though it is the weakest of the four Super Mario Advance games that came out for the GBA over it’s lifespan. All in all, if you’re still looking to get some.
