The God of War games have always been a staple on Sony consoles. Starting with the PS2’s initial God of War and the followup, God of War 2, Kratos has found a lot of success with the hordes of fans his series has garnered. With the move to the next gen consoles, the PS3 release of God of War 3 may have ended his journey but there’s still a lot of story left to tell. With the success of the first PSP game “Chains of Olympus” it seemed foolish for Sony not to tread into the PSP waters again with another release. Enter Ghost of Sparta. Does this PSP game carry over the combat and story the predecessors are known for or does it fall flat as a portable release?I consider myself a fan of the God of War series. I played the first and loved it, but never finished the second. I’m still playing through the third and plan on finishing it within a week or two. What I’m trying to convey is that I know about the Ghost of Sparta and his plight to stick it to the gods of Olympus. If you are new to the series or haven’t really delved too deep into your Greek mythology, you may be a little lost. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the game, you just might be a little behind on why this “God of War” guy is so pissed and his skin is white (hint: it’s his family…literally). The game takes place somewhere between God of War 1 and 2. After defeating the god of war Ares, Kratos takes over as the new god of war in Olympus. While he is now a god and no longer a mortal, he still has mortal d.

I’m fairly new to the GOW series (and by new I mean I’ve played three.) I’ve played both psp titles and the original, and, out of those this one is the best.Story 8.9 of 10 The story is short and sweet, the best so far. To sum it up, kratos, as usual Is being tortured by memories from his past, namely those of his brother Deimos. Deimos was kidnapped by the gods when he and kratos were both children and taken to the realm of the dead. So kratos, in all his bada** glory decides he’s going to bust him out.Characters 9 of 10This entry delves into the past of kratos even deeper, to when the Spartan was a child. It really fleshes out kratos’ character and history making a seemingly empty character have true depth and emotion.Graphics 8.5 of 10I played the HD version of the game on the ps3 so it was rebuilt and reformatted. The graphics were sub par to modern standards but for the psp are pretty impressive.Sound/voice acting 9 of 10Sound is very good from the roars And shrikes of the many mythological creatures to the angry screams and grunts of kratos to the wonderful soundtrack of epic, creepy, and downright sad at times.Gameplay/mechanics 9.5 of 10Gameplay mechanics stay mostly the same with some minor improvements over previous entries. It remains the basis for hack n slash games, fast paced, violent, hard, and very satisfying. As in previous titles you collect red orbs to upgrade the many weapons and powers you come across in the course of the game.Age appropriation 16+God of.

My only all-time favorite action adventure game came when I bought the GoW Chain of Olympus bundle pack with the all-deep red psp 2001 and Kratos figurehead on the rear battery cover. Now, I bought another psp with the upgraded 3001 series features in the GoW Ghost of Sparta bundle pack, expecting more interesting surprises, plot twists, and a touching story like the first one.Unfortunately but not disappointed, Ghost of Sparta fall slightly short of my expectations as battle scenes are not as long nor challenging: fights with the “bosses” are far fewer and uninteresting, battles with the regular monsters are also shortlived and uninspiring as if they’re handicapped. Plot development is not as progressive nor developed, because scene progression felt unrelated from one to the next; I also notice that the visual backgrounds lack fantastic scenery unlike Chain of Olympus. As far as the story goes, we get bits of scattered plot regarding Kratos’ search for his brother; in Chain of Olympus, there are more visual recollections when Kratos’ was searching for his daughter and dealing with his tragic past. However, despite my negative flavor on this second psp’s GoW, my play was still enjoyable after a long wait for us fans–and since I only had to pay $95 out-of-pocket for this bundle pack with the cool black-and-bright red 3001 psp–after saving my rewards cards from my ToysRUs credit purchases–just like my first psp.

God of War franchise has a good combination of fighting, puzzles, and new weapons. They got the formula for a very successful game series. I own all of them, on PS3 or PSP, never fail me. One let down is the leak before release of this game gave me impression that I’d go back to Kratos’ days before becoming GOW, well kinda. It is still very fun game.
