Yet another great Lego game whole bunch to do a lot of replay value and a great sense of humor pure fun to play

Well like I said in the title it’s fun to play. It’s great going through the different places in middle earth getting to play all the characters from the movie. I love that they used the music and dialogue from the movie not mute grunting noises like the last lego games. The only part I hate……..THE GLITCHES. Golem falls through landscapes. Gimli is supposed to be thrown at cracked targets but sometimes the game just won’t let you pick him up to toss him. We had an invincible Golem when we were playing the last scene where Frodo has to fight Golem before he falls in the lava. He lost all of his hearts then he just poof got full hearts again and you couldn’t take off any hearts. He just wouldn’t die. The game has froze a few times. In Cirith Ungol level the stage where Sam and Frodo escape from the Orc castle (after the spider) it’s jerky. They need to figure out how to download a patch for this thing because this really kills the fun part of playing. This review is for Nintendo Wii LoTR.

Unlike other lego wii games this one is very storyline based with direct quotes and cinamatics which mimic the movie. I loved it as an adult playing through the storyline, but I would definitely be uncomfortable just letting any kids play it. Unless you are okay letting the person playing the game watch the movie I would skip this. My 4 year old plays lego star wars and loves it but this would be too scarey for him.

My daughters, 7 and 9, love the Lego games on their Wii, and LOVE the LOTR movies, so this was a must have this Christmas. This game, unlike the others, has dialog from the movie rather than grunting Lego characters. My girls have really enjoyed seeing the movies acted out with Lego people, it’s very entertaining. The game also uses the Wii wand for aiming to throw objects and fire arrows. They earn new characters at a steady pace, but they’re not breezing through the game too quickly even though they play a LOT. This will entertain them for quite a while. My only complaint is that some parts get a little tedious, but probably less so than some of the other games.

This game is awesome for kids to play with parents! It’s a co-op game, so there is a lot to do for children and parents alike. There is no blood at all. Whenever a character dies, they just fall apart into lego pieces and then they respawn with full health with no penalty. This is a great mechanic for children that don’t want to try things due to extreme consequences like starting over at a previous checkpoint or losing something when they die. It’s also fun for the adults because it’s a very large world to explore and the perfectionists can go back after a level is unlocked and get all the fun hidden challenges in that level.I play this with my 5 year old and he loves it. It tells the entire LoTR story without making it too scary for smaller children. There are some scary moments of course, but as long as an adult is playing with the child, they can walk them through it and explain what’s happening. The only complaint I have is the lack of graphics (but it’s the Wii, what can you expect?) and the way the split screen works sometimes. If you want a fun game to play with your children that will entertain you and your child, this is one of the best I’ve seen.

I have two boys (age 10 and 12) who love Lego and love the Lord of the Rings. When we found out this game was being developed, they could hardly wait for it to arrive. I have to admit that I was pretty excited myself. My kids already have all the other Lego Wii games except the Rock Band one, so we can compare this game to the game play in the other Lego games. If you’re familiar with any of the other Lego games, most of the game play is similar, but they’ve added or changed a few things:1) There are now quests. After you complete the typical levels, you can approach various minifigures throughout the map and receive a quest. Most of the quests involve getting an item for the minifigure. My kids like these as they were able to beat all the levels within a matter of days, so it continues to keep them busy much longer.2) There is now a concept of day and night in the map/hub. Certain characters or items are only available during the day or night. You can easily toggle between day and night, but it still adds a new complexity.3) There are multiple hubs and they’re constantly changing and evolving.4) The characters now have an inventory that they can acquire items and carry them throughout the game.5) This is now the second Lego game with actual dialogue (Lego Batman 2 being the first). Finally, if you’re familiar with Lego games, you’ll know that there are "bugs", or as my kids call them – "glitches", where the screen will freeze and there will be a loud.

We have other lego wii games and I love them for my 4 and 6 years olds. My four year old saw this title and not knowing anything about LoTR, still wanted this (over Batman!?! Go figure). I trusted the brand, so gave it a try. The first week was not good. frustration, difficult puzzles relatively speaking…. The navigation interface is much more complicated than the other games, but after we stuck through it and learned how the map worked, life is better. My four year old loves the quests, loves the map, loves the navigation feature. Going to the blacksmith is always a treat. Two forms of money is finally understood. Exploring the game just took a while. We like the game, but it is a step up in challenge for little ones. Stick with it, and they will enjoy it!

My family loves Lego games and this is the reason that we made the purchase. My kids are not into Lord of the Rings and thought that maybe they would not enjoy playing the game. No so; my daughter played this for most of a weekend and really enjoyed it. It is a lot of fun and we always enjoy going back and earning new items. Really cute game and well done. Love that the Lego people talk and it is always full of fun little things that make you laugh. If you like the Lego games then you will enjoy this as any of the games. You don’t have to know anything about Lord of the Rings to keep up. Also like the fact that one or two people may play at the same time, you can drop out and drop back in at almost any time. Note if you do get stuck there are website that offer tips to get you going. Most of all this is a great way to spend sometime on those days when you can’t get outside to play!

We own almost all of the Wii Lego games and this is definitely one of the BEST! We did have a problem with this game freezing, but honestly it wasn’t a huge deal to me. It was a little annoying, but the game saves often enough that I didn’t think it was that bad. We were on the fence getting this because of all the reviews on here mentioning game glitches – but we bought it anyway and don’t regret it! If you’re on the fence about this game and you’re a fairly patient person, give this a go!

Overall this is a very fun game to play. The adaption is comical (mostly) and fun. I enjoy the free & open areas to explore. It really got the adventure feeling right on this game.(-1 Star) The big issue I have with the game is the dark theme. I know there is a fine line here, but personally I can’t let my kids play this right now. It’s just not 100% kid friendly. Too dark & intense. I know it does fit the underlying theme, but it is a LEGO game. For our household, it’s grown-ups only.
