Taken by itself it’s a great game. But it is what it is. Take the GTA franchise and give it another backdrop and story. Not much has changed. Pawn shop level buy but that’s about it.
So, GTA: LCS returns to the GTA III setting, with a new character to play as, more cars, and more to doPlot:Without spoiling too much, the plot is that after killing Salvatore Leone’s made man, Toni Cipriani retreats to LC, where he is greeted by Salvatore himself, and Lucky Vinnie, after performing a certain number of missions (not spoiling what) for Vinnie to repay Sal, Vinnie wants to meet with Toni, which is just a plot to kill him and take his spot in Sal’s trust (kinda obvious), which leads to Toni killing Vinnie and working for Sal himself, and after a while, Toni meets with his mother who calls a hit on him for being a disappointment (what a bitch!), jumping ahead in the story to cut the length of this part down, Toni becomes a made man, the hit is called off, Sal gets arrested, Toni takes over to kill his rivals, he runs the Leone family, kills Sindacco, busts Leone out, and Toni has to save the mayor from *blank blank* to clear his nameGameplay:Pretty much GTA III with a few more bells and whistles, there are the old side missions you all know and love, the stunt jumps, hidden packages, everything for GTA III is here in full force, as far as vehicles go, there are new one, but the main attraction is definitely motorcycles (YES!!) and these s***s do so much you’ll only want to use the motorcycles, unfortunately unlike VC stories or SA, no air-planes are usable, but helicopters are so, yeah, have fun, the map is the same so no complaints, although I am kinda bummed they reverted back to the GTA III graphics, I know its not the main focus but I thought they would’ve made some improvements to the details without changing a thing, oh well. Controls are as smooth as ever, aiming is better, thank god, and the camera is a hell of a-lot better.Other than those, theres nothing to talk about, its GTA III at its core, with improvements and changed missions, if you want the GTA III experience a little better, get this, I highly recommend it, theres so much to do here, you won’t wanna put it down, and by the way, the soundtrack is incredible, the main theme is my favorite of the series, but with that said, hope you enjoy, enjoy wreaking havoc

Liberty City Stories takes place roughly two years before the events that unfold in GTA 3. Instead of playing an unknown, however, you control Toni Cipriani – a member of the Leone family mafia who’s working his way up the ranks. Even when I approached the game understanding that it wouldn’t be as fully fledged of a GTA as its predecessors, I was still somewhat dissapointed with this offering.I immediately noticed the slower frame rate in the game. While GTA games have never been known for having exemplary frame rates, Liberty City Stories handled it somewhat worse than even GTA 3 did several years ago. The city, Liberty City, is mostly the same although it’s fun to explore certain parts of it to see how they later change in GTA 3. A huge flaw that the game has, however, comes in the targeting system. The targeting system is actually worse than the one found in San Andreas and even though the GTA series has always been criticized for a poor targeting system, I didn’t share the same experience until I played Liberty City Stories. More often than not you’ll target an innocent civilian multiple times before you finally lock on to the nearest antagonist. And while the targeting system now features the manual aiming feature found in San Andreas, it proves often times to be too slow to use effectively during heated gun fights.The missions also feel more redundant than ever. Again, this has never been a strong feaeture in the GTA series, but Liberty City Stories lacks the diversity that its predecessors had. Even after beating the game, I can’t easily recall a mission that stood out to me either in difficulty or variation. It simply involves the “drive here, shoot this guy” or “drive here, bring this back to me” formula. Unless this is your first GTA outing, it’ll get redundant before you know it. And I say this as a true GTA fan who has been happy with the series’ previous offerings and isn’t trying to belittle the franchise in any way. Whereas GTA 3 had memorable missions like sabotaging members of a crime family using an ice cream truck or picking up porn magazines as they fell out of another truck, Liberty City Stories lacks both the creativity and humor in this department that other GTAs had.The voice acting is still as good as it always is and the story is engaging enough to keep you interested throughout, although it still pales in comparison to the previous titles. A lot of this is due to the lack of a central antagonist. Throughout the game, you’re fighting against various gangs and political officials without a true target in mind. This leads to a lackluster final battle and a lack of conviction to seeing things through. You don’t have the same determination to hunt down your backstabbing girlfriend as you did in GTA 3 or killing the corrupt, sleazy police officer as you did in San Andreas. Because of this, Toni never really achieves a higher status than errand boy.Still, for $20, the game is pretty solid. LCS has some of the best cars in the series so far and while the humor isn’t as good as it used to be, it’s still pretty solid and entertaining for the most part. It’s no GTA 4 (nor was it ever meant to be) and lacks the multiplayer functionality of its PSP counterpart. But if you’re looking for a GTA game to add to your library, LCS is a perfect fit for a cheap price.

Its a great game for GTA fans. Its fun to play in an old city, like the one in GTA3, except with new missions, cars, motorcycles, weapons, secrets, and missions. The map has only minor changes, and its very cool. The only issue is i have to turn the brightness up all the way when i play this game, its pretty dark.

This was my 1st game on PS2. And i played it till it didnt work anymore. if you want to really enjoy this game, find the cheat code and have at it. lol.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PS2 is a great value. It’s like an enhanced version of GTA 3 for $20. It’s like GTA 3 but includes a couple more radio stations, motorcycles, more guns, and your character talks. It includes most of the things you expect from a GTA game: free-roaming, carjacking, side missions, fun storyline missions, cops, and many more things. But this game lacks some things found in the newer games (Vice City and San Andreas) like buying property, recruiting gang members, pedal bikes, the ability to rob stores, dating, and some other things. One thing I liked better in GTA 3 than in this game is in GTA 3, your character is a new guy trying to make it and earn respect. In this game, your guy is cocky and can get annoying in some cut-scenes because he thinks he’s “all-that,” even in the first missions. Still for $20, it’s a great game, especially if you do not own a PSP. The graphics aren’t that great, but are still decent. And at least the loads times are fast. I recommend this game for someone new to GTA games or a big GTA fan. Remember, you do lack somethings in this game, so some people might prefer getting Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which is also $20 each at this time. A note to parents that this game does have blood, swearing, and violence, but it’s nowhere near as bad as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I teens or even “tweens” should be able to handle this game.

When I first heard that this game was coming out for the PSP I was a little upset because I really wanted to play it but I didn’t want to spend $300 for it. When I heard Rockstar was going to release it on the PS2 as a budget title I was thrilled!Liberty City Stories isn’t exactly a new game, it’s more like an expansion pack for GTA3. All of the missions and story are new but there are many changes as well, such as it being 1998 in the game instead of 2001.It’s a lot of fun going back to Liberty City and being reminded of all the fun I had 5 years ago while at the same time getting to do new things such as riding motorcycles and jumping out of cars. The new story is interesting as well and the voice acting is great.However it does have some flaws. It’s kinda weird going back to the way GTA3 was played and losing some memorable features from San Andreas. You can no longer go into most buildings, swim, or workout. The graphics also closer resemble GTA3 instead of San Andreas. There is no multiplayer as well.For the most part this is a game that was meant for fans of GTA3 who didn’t get the PSP version. If you enjoyed doing the missions in GTA3 then you should enjoy this game. But, if you only like using cheats and killing people for a few hours then you’d be better off just sticking with San Andreas.For only $20 this game is highly recomended!
