Of all the Dragon Ball Z fighting games the Budokai series has always been easily the best. With simple responsive controls and fast paced action, and of course the crazy energy attacks, this stands above the first two as the best of the lot.The story mode is vastly improved over last years title in that it not only follows the story, but allows you to develop your character (limited to the main Z hero’s not villians or hidden) and unlock all sorts of hidden goodies as well as the natural progression of attacks and skills. The difficulty in story mode of course fluctuates and some times forces you to take time to strengthen your character (at randomly placed Battle Zones which range from Saibamen to Meta Cooler). Also at certain points in story mode (usually the second + time through with a certain character) you can sometimes branch away from the saga and do a movie battle of sorts (after you beat Frieza the first time but before Goku goes Super Sayin you can face off against Cooler instead). However this leads to complaint #1. During the key story moments instead of a cool cutscene we get this almost story book form instead that is really uncool. The controls are identical with a few new improvements. The first is in order to make the action faster you can teleport behind your foe and hit but only if he attacks you first (a counter basically) as well go into hyper mode (all energy at once) which then allows you to unleash your most devastating attacks, which leads me t.

Have you ever wondered what, exactly, millions of fans see in the Dragon Ball Z cartoon? To outsiders, it’s all a bunch of grunting, name-calling, and “powering up” for half an hour every day with maybe the occasional punch thrown on the first and third Thursdays of the month. It’s just this sort of outsider who should try out Budokai 3, though not only is it a fun, accessible fighting game, but it’s also the first DBZ game to completely capture the feel of the TV show. The developers at Dimps have obviously spent lots of time polishing up Budokai 3’s fighting engine, which is now closer to the anime’s feel than ever before. As in previous games, every character has a basic set of abilities to work with, the typical punch, kick, guard, and ki blast, which can be further modified with skill capsules. Once you put a few hours into the single-player Story mode and score a decent enough skill set, you’ll be able to unleash all manner of special moves in the classic dial-a-combo tradition. In Budokai 3, however, there’s an entirely different and far deeper approach to defense. There are real counters now. For example, if you press the guard button and a direction at the right moment against an oncoming attack, your character will teleport out of harm’s way (usually to the side of his opponent) and get a free crack at starting some offense of his own. This opens up an array of strategic possibilities in every match, teleportation takes up ki power, so you can’t rely on it all the time,.

    great game.

I hated the first Budokai, the second wasnt too bad, but once this one hit I was seeing stars. This is the best Budokai game that has ever been released. Shin Budokai, Infinate World has nothing on this game. The gameplay, the characters, everything about this game is good. If you have a PS2 you better have this game somewhere in your collection. Never ever let this game collect dust because it is a master piece!

DragonBall Z is back, and it is better than ever! Now, it has characters from the DragonBall Z, and DragonBall GT series, along with some characters from the movies! The game also has improved fighting!Atari did a very good job in this third installment of the DBZ Budokai series! Amazing graphics, fast game-play, and loads of characters make this game the ultimate DBZ game, and in my opinion, I personally think that this game is better than it’s sequel, DragonBall Z Budokai Tenkaichi! This game’s graphics are two-demensional, cell-shaded, and very bright and colorful! These kind of graphics are not found in many games, and I think that they sometimes look better than the three-demensional graphics! The story mode in the game is great! It is a somewhat “adventure” style story mode! You get to pick one of the story characters, and you can fly around with them int he environment provided! It is not exactly adventure because you you only have one destination, but it’s kind of fun that you get to fly to it, and sometimes find some goodies on your way there!Gameplay! This game’s gameplay is amazing! The control combinations actually work, unlike the ones in DBZ Budokai: Tenkaichi, and the Finishing Moves in this game are the best, surpassing all the other games (including DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi)! The fighting is very fast, and will suit all exeptional players! The opponents you fight in this game are not impossible to defeat like the ones in DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, and with cooperative.

I think that Budokai 3 is by far the best game in the budokai series for PS2. The one-player story mode is excellent. After being subjected to B2’s horrid board-game-style story mode, B3’s was a refreshing improvement. I liked the fact that you’re able to freely fly around the overworld map and search for dragonballs, capsules, and fights. The events are different depending on where you are and who you are playing, staying very true to the series. Furthermore, B3 has added a really great leveling-up system which allows you to customize your characters as you fight and gain experience. This keeps the game interesting and replayable. The gameplay itself is quite enjoyable. The controls are similar to the previous game’s, with the addition of some new moves and flexibility. While not complete, the character list is still good, even bringing in some characters from the movies and GT. The graphics are clean and bright, with cel-shaded characters and nice-looking animations. The camera angles are logical and appealing. My only complaints: a longer character list would have been nice, and I also would have liked the option of having the Japanese voices. Overall, B3’s a really great fighting game, particularly if you’re a fan of DBZ.

I was really surprised the day I heard this long thought dead series was rising from the ashes once again. After playing Xtreme I was hoping for much more, and that’s exactly what I got.Grandia III is just like the other Grandia’s that come before it. An epic journey where friendships are made and love is found. With a new unique battle system (like an improved Star Ocean 3), you travel with Yuki and friends around the world in a neat plane. I was excited when I found out I could take to the skies… However the skies are limited. Access to new and outside places that aren’t on the linear gamepath go nowhere. One of the serious cons of this 2 disc game. Adding an addicting card game does not also cover up the lack of side quests in this game as well. The leveling system however was competely fun for me and a total blast with the new fighting system installed. Definitely tides me over till games other games are hitting the market.I definitely enjoyed the unique background and the chemistry between most of the characters. The dubbing wasn’t even that bad. I was pretty surprised overall with how enjoyable this game was.I only gave it a 4 out of 5 due to it’s few but minor flaws. I would recommend this to anyone who is out for another quick smash and grab.
