When the PSP first came out I took a look at it and thought it was too expensive for the games it would have. However, with the lower price, new games and PS3 connectivity the new lighter PSP Slim (I have the 2001) has so much to offer I can hardly believe I waited so long to buy one.I bought my PSP Slim from retrolio with Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core and Gods of War: Chains of Olympus. Without a doubt, this was the perfect time to buy as these two games would be A+ on any system. What I hadn’t counted on was that I would actually spend more time using the system as an RSS/Podcast player and PS3 remote play system even more than I play those two games. I love having the built in WiFI that allows me to go online and listen to my favorite podcasts real time without having to download and update with my desktop computer. Some people say Remote Play is a waste, but I am having fun going back and playing FFVII for the PSOne on my PSP with Remote Play.I also love being able to upload movies from my TiVo to the PSP and watch my favorite movies where-ever I am at. I plan on loading up a few movies for a vacation trip we have planned this year. This is a great time to buy a PSP and the 2000 systems are a great deal. I’ve only had this model for a month, but I will probably by a second system this summer for a backup and to play games with my wife while we are on vacation. I have my eye on that GOW:COO Red job! This is definitely the system for people who want more than just game play ou.

Just a warning, make sure you get your memory card now; I made the mistake of ordering the system but waiting to order the memory card. Basically i got to play the same start up levels for a few days while I waited for the system to come in. Keep an eye our for bundles, a much better deal. Often, you can get a bundle for the same price as just buying the system and card, but it will also come with a game.I gave this system 4 stars because it only lasted about a year and half before keys started to give out, granted I played this a lot, but I expect it to hold out a bit longer than that.

I have been wanting to get a Playstation 2 for quiet awhile but I decided that I probably would not play with it as much as I would like. So I decided to get the PSP. I can play it anywhere. I don’t have to worry about interferring with someone using the television. Currently I use it to surf the web and play games. As soon as I order my sd card I will be able to enjoy it even more.

Picked up the PSP after having my PS3 for a couple of months. I was just looking for something that I could play while traveling, during lunch, or just hanging out at home. I wasn’t that interested in some of the other features like MP3, picture viewing. At some point I’ll probably pick up a movie and see how it looks but for the most part this will be a game only system for me.Over all I’m pleased with the PSP. The graphics are very good, the quality seems good, and the selection of games isn’t bad. Some of the other positives are:1.) Battery life- seems good to me for casual use.2.) Wifi- love the ability to go on-line and play against others on-line.3.) Interface- the interface is just like the PS3. I think the interface is very clean and easy to use. Some of the cons are:1.) Controls- playing some FPS type games can be a bit of a challenge with the controls. My hand/fingers tend to cramp up.2.) With the Piano black model a memory stick is not included. So by the time you buy the PSP, memory stick, 1 game and a travel bag you are out a fair amount of money.

PSP is great, and its modding scene is great as well.

I’m reviewing this product with a unique angle. I have an original 1.50 FW PSP that I never upgrade because I use it exclusively for homebrew. I basically ignored firmware updates, and as a result I wasn’t able to play any new games that were released for the PSP. Yes there are workarounds, but I got tired of relying on custom firwares and other applications which always run the risk of bricking your system. Yeah there are now unbricking methods and such, but honestly I got tired of the hassel. When I first heard that this new style PSP was coming out, I got pretty excited because I was thinking about getting another one anyway. While the new features and everything truly aren’t much better than the original, this is a great way to go if you have an old PSP that you want to keep exclusive for homebrew. Not only do I now have a permanent homebrew enabled system that will never be modded, flashed or tampered with again, but I also have a system that can stay up to date with the latest firmware updates, play any released PSP game, and I can utilize the PS3 connectivity features, which are becoming better and better over time. The issues of poor quality are pretty overrated, and I think it’s mainly because people don’t know how to take care of their stuff correctly. I use mine daily and it’s in pristine condition. Want to know how? Well, to get maximum enjoyment out of this thing, I heavily recommend before even playing it, you also purchase the following:1) a hori screen protect.

Pros:1. This is a smaller/lighter version of psp so carrying it around feels lighter.2. The battery is good. I generally end up charging it weekly (dont use it 24/7 thou)3. Plays video(mp4)(You can use mediacoder to convert video to psp’s mp4 format) /mp3/pictures/Internet radio (need wifi access point)/Browse websites (flash supported so youtube videos can be enjoyed)Cons:1. Doesnt come with headphones/screen protector/bag/jacket.2. Doesnt come with memory stick pro duo (unless you buy the packaged one)3. You cannot just plug in the usb and charge it, you need to navigate to the usb settings only then it’ll charge, which mean if your battery is dead you cannot charge using usb you’ll need the power/car adapter4. Screen reflection… while playing/watching video, you can actually see your mirror imageOverall worth it, my kids have fun time in long drives…
