beautiful blu-ray package! I was impressed by the work inside and out. From the digital remastering to the artwork it is a testament to Chan and his work.
Great product and great service
As someone who has worked with the previous Fortune Star licensee, I know how difficult it is with them. Subtitles on their remasters can’t be tampered with and everything has to be done their way and special features were always minimal. As expected, Criterion Collection is chocked full of relevant special features and documentaries. English subtitles have also been reworked on. Packaging is also nicely designed. Absolutely a must buy. Buy it!
The Police Story films are a lot of fun to watch. The action set pieces are tremendous, and Jackie Chan shows he’s an expert actor as well as director. The plot and story is a bit lacking, and the films could be trimmed down a little bit. These films are still loads of fun and glad to see them get Criterion treatment.
Excellent quality on the remasters, with really cool special features. Especially the Edgar Wright interview. Well worth it for two of Chan’s best films.
The audio and video work are fantastic. Clear picture and has the perfect audio balance of song and dialogue.It’s a little thing, but they kept the og sounds! (i.e gun sounds and punching audio)

CRITERION Blu-Ray Edition comments: Finally! Not since laserdisc have we been able to hear the original audio mixes for both POLICE STORY films. For reasons that remain unexplained the Hong Kong film studio in control of these films has only allowed us to have inferior 5.1 remixes on DVD, Blu-Ray etc. Time and time again we were given disappointing releases with audio that was amateurishly mixed, picture quality through a potato lens and subtitles that were just atrocious. The only viable alternatives were fan made editions (some of which I was involved with). But NOW we have the ultimate Criterion release and they knocked it out of the park by including the original audio tracks, despite their needing to source them from some strange places (and shame on numerous so called review sites that did not even mention the inclusion of the original audio).There is no need to bore you with the details. Just know that in addition to the original audio we have outstanding picture quality that is likely superior to the theatrical prints.I pray Criterion can work similar miracles with other Hong Kong films because nearly all of them have been neglected and even disrespected.

Criterion really went a out on they two disk set. This is the cleanest I’ve ever seen these movies look with only scene that were shot poorly looking low quality. This set is the best way to experience these movies featuring various extras and option to pick which vocal track you want including the films original spoken dialogue. If you loved police story 1 or 2 you can’t go wrong with this set.

La primera copia Blu-ray que recibà de esta pelÃcula venÃa rayada, cuando lo probé en mi reproductor no funcionó bien, por lo que solicité un reembolso y me dieron respuesta de inmediato. Mi segunda copia estaba en perfectas condiciones, por esa razón no le doy mala calificación al producto, la calidad del servicio de retrolio es excelente, entonces al final sà quedé satisfecho. Sólo revisen bien el empaque y los discos.

The 5 stars are more for the package than the films themselves; I think there’s an awful lot of dead space to sit through before getting to watch Jackie C do what he does best: move. The films, though, do look great. Nice and sharp. But it’s the extras that really make this shine. Interviews, appreciations, analyses of the stunts and the on-screen character JC portrays. And the Jonathan Ross programme from the 80s. All this is what makes it such a good buy.
