beautiful blu-ray package! I was impressed by the work inside and out. From the digital remastering to the artwork it is a testament to Chan and his work.
Great product and great service
As someone who has worked with the previous Fortune Star licensee, I know how difficult it is with them. Subtitles on their remasters can’t be tampered with and everything has to be done their way and special features were always minimal. As expected, Criterion Collection is chocked full of relevant special features and documentaries. English subtitles have also been reworked on. Packaging is also nicely designed. Absolutely a must buy. Buy it!
The Police Story films are a lot of fun to watch. The action set pieces are tremendous, and Jackie Chan shows he’s an expert actor as well as director. The plot and story is a bit lacking, and the films could be trimmed down a little bit. These films are still loads of fun and glad to see them get Criterion treatment.
Excellent quality on the remasters, with really cool special features. Especially the Edgar Wright interview. Well worth it for two of Chan’s best films.
The audio and video work are fantastic. Clear picture and has the perfect audio balance of song and dialogue.It’s a little thing, but they kept the og sounds! (i.e gun sounds and punching audio)

The qualityof the restoration done on both movies is absolutely stunning. The Fidelity is incredible, even for Blu-Ray. The 4K sourcing is obvious–the film was definity downscaled from a high resolution source and even at an average bitrate of around 25,MBps , looks mind-blowing with zero noise, film grain and emulsion debris. Criterion’s restoration capability deserves some kind of award.The audio, both the original monaurual and remastered 6 channel uncompressed tracks, are impressive as well. The remastered has been expertly corrected in Pro Tools and has had all pops, hissing and reverb filtered out and the dialogue cleaned up and improved — they sound as if they were recorded in a modern sound room instead of being sourced from 35 year old magnetic stripS. Really just mind-blowing stuff here, well worth the $35 asking price.As for the movies, the stunts are without a doubt some of Jackie’s best and.most death defying. My favorite scenes are when he runs down a steep mountain and hitch-rides a bus using nothing but an umbrella handle in the beginning of the first film, the white knuckle mall sequence at the end of the first film, and the unbelievable, stunning pipe-fight sequence half-way into the second movie. Unreal!! Eat your heart out John Woo.5/5 would buy again if I somehow lost this copy, no hesitation. It’s worth that.much.

I havnt seen all of Jackie’s work, but this is a truly fantastic movie. Its funny, and engaging.I couldnt lay down, its too awesome.All the fights and stunts were amazing to watch.Cool ass movie. Im glad i own it.

Oh my Lord I’ve never seen these films in such high definition. It feels like I’ve been transported back in time and I’m in a theater in the 70’s. Except this might still be better quality because there’s no flicker or smudges that randomly pop up for a split second like on projected film. I grew up a fan of Jackie’s movies, but I only ever saw them on reduced quality re-recorded VHS.
