its a good game if you like flying around on a dragon breathing fire all day.but if you dont or not sure you should rent it first other wise youl be unhappythere is NO ground fighting so you should keep that in mind before renting/buying itbut its a good game to my friends co- workers and i recommend it to you

It’s too bad people are lambasting this title. I’ve made it through only the first few levels, but I still consider it challenging, beautiful, engaging, and simply fun. Most people’s gripes center around the sixaxis controller scheme and how difficult it is to use. On the contrary, the sixaxis might be the reason that the game is challenging. It forces the player to think ahead and time your turns as precisely as you can. The game doesn’t forgive people for having knee jerk reactions. You might actually have to plan out some of your attacks. That being said, I do agree it would have been better to enable the analog sticks as an option. As a whole, the game is still good. Scorching the earth, picking up a few horses and throwing them through the air, and devouring a soldier or two is a blast. This game is definitely a reason to get a PS3.

Before playing Lair I read some scathing reviews on it, and of course the main criticism for the game is the controls. I’ve heard they are unresponsive, tortorous, sluggish, and many other names from critics, and regular gamers. Still after reading these reviews, I still wanted to play the game. I had a feeling that some of the people playing this game didn’t take the time to learn the controls, and gave up on it, saying the game was poorly designed.Well I just recently got a PS3 and Lair was amongst the first games I bought, and after playing through and beating the game, I couldn’t disagree with those people more.Story: I’m not going to go too much into the story, involving the warring nations of Asylia and the Mokai, except to say I was impressed with what was there. It’s not complex, but is very interesting and told very well through some great FMV cutscenes between levels. I really didn’t think there would be a lot of story, figuring it would be like a typical action game, but I was wrong. Again, nothing complex, but better than your average action game. It’s even emotional at times.Graphics: The graphics in the game look really good. Mostly the colors are earthen, using a lot of browns, blacks, and greys, but they are still well done. Lots of details on the dragons of course, but also the other creatures like the giant manta bombers or huge warbeasts. The levels themselves all look great. As you fly past towers in the cities you will see decorative markings on them. The.

Let me just start by saying, I think this is a great game in general. And the reason it falls short doesn’t seem to be listed in the reviews I’ve read. There seems to be no one that cares about the frame rate. The preview movies on this page aren’t always choppy because they are of low quality… that’s the way the game runs half the time. Just watch the movies; you’ll see a distinctive extra chop as they blow up a ship. These chop-ups are even present in the “behind the scenes” movies in the game extras (DvD quality movie shorts). As soon as you get to the major battles you’ll be dealing with frame rate reductions (sometimes lower than 20 fps). There are also quite a few shading errors that occur quite regularly on the dragons and the terrain. I updated my console version to 1.92 and then to 1.93 thinking it would help, but it still runs rough in the same places.Another small issue with this game was the timing on the vocals. They’ll tell you to go attack a transport (manta) and as you go they’ll start yelling that the boats you left behind are under attack. You’ll learn when to listen.Outside of those errors, this game is awesome. I personally love the use of the SIXAXIS controller in this game, but I can see where it might frustrate some. It’s just like any other set of controls; you have to take time to get used to them. The ground combat portions are probably the greatest fun in the game; breathing fire, clawing, eating a passer-by for some health points. Just.

I love games that are set in a mythical time set and mode and this game definitely kept my interest and the way the gameplay was set up, only added to the challenge and mad it more worth while playing for me. I think that anyone that has a slight fascination with dragons or anything of that nature would like to play this game and at least take a peek into it.

I thought this would be too difficult for my 7 year old son but he is good with video games, and with a little practice he got the hang of it and LOVES the game. Excellent graphics, he likes moving the controller to make the dragon’s do what he likes. It is like having a little bit of the Wii capability but with the PS3.

I’m glad I ignored some of the negative reviews and purchased this game. Great graphics, stirring music, and simply a lot of fun to play. You need to spend a little time practicing, and of course you need to learn what the motion sensing controller does (neither of which takes all that long), but once you’ve done this, you really feel like you’re flying a dragon and working as a team to defend your people and lands. Recommended.

Lair is truly a feast for the eyes. The graphics, music, and epic story are wonderful. I also love the fact that the game is unique. It is bound to entertain you for awhile. The major flaw with this game is the lack of joystick controlled flight. The Sixaxis is NOT as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but definitely takes some time to get use to. It may be a little difficult for young kids to get the hang of; however, after a day of practice any normal adult/gamer should be fine with it. Do I prefer the Sixaxis? No. Can you still enjoy this game and have an amazing experience with it? Absolutely.Pros:GraphicsEpic Story LineMusic/SoundtrackUniqueCons:Sixaxis Controls (Logitech remote will play the game w/o sixaxis)Motion blur is too exagerated when flyingNo on-line play (other than medal system)

this games shows what ps3 its made off 1080p graphics and 7.1 surround sound plus blu-ray makes all this possible, anyways the controls was the main thing it killed this great franchise which to me its great cause i went up to level 7 with this games using the sixaxis its simple and easy to control plus like the detail and give props for factor 5 making this game i hope they make a sequel cause i loved it ;the contorls are easy because i had experience with a motion sensor controller from logitech before called the wingman extreme that came bundle with one of factor 5 games for pc its awesome hows u could use the same ease here on this game and what i love its the dragon’s battle upclose and how u can fight on the ground with the dragon the bad part is no missions with the main character alone nor he uses any weapons at all only the staff and whip to use for the dragon but aside this game its well done and for those not motion sensor firendly there’s an update for the controls plus a dragon pack for u gamers and trust i have beat it the game twice with the sixaxis and dualshock3 and its awesome i recommend!
