Lair is a brand new experience that uses six-axis control to give the player the illusion of actually steering the dragon. Of course, as riding most living animals, it isn’t easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun. It takes practice and a little bit of imagination. If you are having some trouble with the control in this game, imagine your six-axis controller as the reins of the dragon. Just like riding a horse, you need to snap your wrists down to dash, and snap them up to do 180degrees turn. Also, when you want to do left and right dash, you have to yank on the six-axis left and right, making full swings. The in-game tutorial should have been clearer on this, but once you realize that the six-axis works as the reins, it should come fairly naturally. The targeting system is not ideal, and the fact that the ground control uses the analog sticks, not six-axis, makes ground to aerial combat transition unnatural, but these are minor points to the immersive experience of riding a dragon and blasting away the enemies in gorgeous environments, listening to fantastic music scores. I have played about five hours now, and so far, the story, although predictable and melodramatic at times, is fun and flows nicely and logically. I am glad that I didn’t heed to the bad reviews and bought this game. Frankly, I have been getting little tired of FPS and hack and slash games that constitute most of the games nowadays, and I was waiting for a new experience. If you want a new experience and ar.

Who doesnt like dragons? if you do this game is definitely for you. I liked it so much i basically gave it to my fraternity brother as a gift to keep just because he asked for it. A few levels are a bit hard but nothing is impossible.

This game is stunning. Awesome visuals, incredible story, and impressive integration of the Sixaxis system which in my opinion has up until Lair been underwhelming. Very well done.

LAIR was a game that I had more-or-less decided not to get, based off all the bad I’d heard about the game, along with the good things I’d heard as well. But it was really cheap, 15 dollars here on retrolio, and I needed something else to get the 25 minimum for free shippping, and I’m glad for that. For 20 or less, this is a great PS3 game. It’s very playable with the analog stick patch that was released a long time ago (I have no idea how the original Sixaxis only controls work). The premise is GREAT, you’re a dragon-rider, so you get to fly around and shoot fireballs at your enemies, swoop down on ground forces and so on. You can also stomp around on the ground and breath fire on troops, swipe at them, etc. And one of the coolest parts of the game is when you get into an air-duel with another dragon-rider. You use a simple system with the buttons to attack and defend while you have this close-up one-on-one battle. Like I said, great concepts in the game, and they’re all done fairly well. Interesting enough story, and a pretty decent looking game for how old it is in the PS3’s lineup of titles. I couldn’t help but think of ways the game could be even bigger and better, but I like what the game is, and as I said, if you’re on the fence with this title, and can get it for 20 dollars or less, I recommend you take the plunge and get it.

The overly negative reviews for this game have a certain knee-jerk quality. No, it’s not an FPS or 3dPS with a trailing camera that takes fifteen minutes to master. No, it’s not an RPG-style story that emphasizes “character development” with lots of new moves and powers. At heart it’s a flight simulator; it has sensitive controls, all the action takes place on the back of your dragon, and it has a series of “missions” that emphasize different skills and are re-playable if you enjoy mastering the controls and improving your performance on the individual missions. The story content is all about moving you from one mission to another in a somewhat plausible manner. The game reminds me of my experience with F-16 Fighting Falcon on my old 286 machine. After 20 minutes of trying to play the game on a joystick I wanted to throw the thing through a plate glass window. After I got the hang of the game I played it over and over and it became one of my favorite diversions. As for all the digs on the sixaxis controls, at least it’s original, and it is a more sensitive control than the little thumbsticks are capable of being. I have not had any of the problems identified by the negative reviews, including the Gamespot reviewer, perhaps because I always approached the game as a flight simulator.Bottom line, if the idea of a graphically stupendous, fantasy-genre flight simulator appeals to you, then play the game. If it doesn’t, don’t. But either way the game should be appreciated as.

This game rocks from start to finish. Controls rock using full capability of the six-axis controller (fully charge it before playing ;) ) Plus graphics are like never seen before. Now Heavenly Sword beats it but gameplay is different. Story is great and turning points in storyline are well thought out. Awsome game overall.
